I fired up last night without knowing about this pack. As soon as I logged in it was raining and then withing min I got struck by lightening! I then went off and found out about the pack and purchased it. Loving this new update!
happened to me as well , same part of my station got struck twice by 2 seperate storms within 20 minutes of each other , and they say lightening doesn`t strike twice in the same place
Rotating the content of an LCD image would be awesome for being able to change where an arrow points, without having four versions of the arrow in memory, and as scripts require without re-welding them.
tbh I think that's a bad idea, it would make large grids even less needed and the main point of those is to allow players to build big with much lower performance impact. I think introducing the whole resource & assembly cycle to the small grid would incentivize people to just work with small grids and the servers would suffer a lot because of that
I am glad these came in to the game as content. I have all off these as mods already... This will get me to play the game a little ;) I want them to create space engineer bots that we can program to do things. I always feel lonely in the game when I play...
I’m really happy that the space engineers team are adding some mod ideas because there are some really awesome mods out there that people on Xbox for obvious reasons can’t get so it’s amazing

So lightning is an energy beam, all Keen has to do now is create a model that uses a large amount of power and/or takes a long time to charge with all the same options as gatling and rockets. Weapon update seems more possible than ever
Curious if these are sturdier then rotors when going from large to small grid, for having machineguns on large grids. my machine guns constantly break off with my large ship.
you should start a series with the hinges where a lot of your vehicles are made out of said hinges and you can only have a mobile base and use the hinges as a sort of crane that grabs things and sets it in a grinding pit inside of the mobile base
The mod you were missing that were put in the game is the emissive strips mod, that's pretty much the basis for the neon lights. Only things I wanna mention here: 19:53 - They already did a whole remodel of all the components in the game. The old ion thrusters are extremely basic compared to what we have now. The only thing you're paying for here is a hyper-detailed model that's a third iteration of the same blocks. Everyone has an already upgraded model of the engines. Also, yes, the paid models will look better, that's the idea behind paid content vs free, the better-looking stuff that provides no additional functionality will be an incentive to pay for the extra goodies. If there's no incentive then people won't buy it outside of just wanting to support the team. 21:49 - There does exist a single button option in vanilla, but it's only on small grid blocks. That being said, I get the gripe of the single button panel vs the 4 button panel. However it does not add additional functionality to the game, it uses the same functionality as the 4 button panel, just reduced the buttons to 1. That to me just seems too minor a thing to really get upset over, you are not limited in functionality, you just don't have an alternative option which is paid for, there's a difference. Alternative options that don't give players advantages over others is fair to monetize imo, because you don't get an advantage to the single button vs 4. You still get a functional button regardless and you can label it with a screen or by hovering your cursor over the button. Like you said with the doors about functionality, they're buttons, you assign the button and push it, it activates a function. Sorry, just had to toss my two cents in on those two. I get the disappointment of paywall stuff, but that's the point of paywall items, they're meant to incentivize you to pay and make a demand for it. If they didn't do this then the development fo the game will go down and eventually stop as there's no money to pay people to work on it.
aw, i was thinking the neon tubes where lights, i was thinking of setting up a sensor to flash the archway from blue to red when it detects something like a metal detector...
this one is unfortunate, but in the stream keen said the decision was made mainly because of performance impact on servers, especially since unlike the regular lights, the neon tubes invite designs where you'd want to put in a lot of them... making them all a light source would bog down the game, so they've chosen to make them just emissive maybe there will be a functionality to change their color programatically? They've said you can adjust the brightness with the value setting when coloring them, so _maybe_ someone will figure out a way to do that and make a mod out of that

Just wanted to ask, is this sparks of the future scenario just a place to walk around or is it a playable campaign? It didn't seem like one but I was walking around and it seemed like it was designed as a campaign, with hidden resources and dead bodies etc..
It's nice that the weather is generated automatically and that there is a way to control it through the UI, but I'm still really disappointed that the game can't tell the difference between what's outside, inside and underground like the weather can in Minecraft. I'm also bummed out that there isn't a large grid version of that new sliding door. I think you are spot on for calling out the single button panel not having a vanilla counterpart. People have been asking Keen for one for years and I don't think you should have to pay for functional blocks that don't exist in the base game.
Nice breakdown of the update, thanks for doing this. I'm curious what the weather will be like during a survival game, can you change the severity in world settings? The hinges look most interesting. Are the new thrusters actually identical? Just new skins? The old blocks all need a visual overhaul including the original Interior Block.
Need a lighting rod that absorbs the energy and transfers into power, however it take a bit if damage each time its hit and if hit multiple times in a short period the damage to it increases also if your batteries are full there's a chance for a catastrophic overload and you might just blow up a battery or two
Can you in this game like make an island? Place blocks into the ground under it on pistons and then cut out the piece of actual earth so the only thing on the earth is what you built on the piston and raise and lower it? Like cut it out?

Space engineers: can yoy improve the game? Optimize it more, stop creating new stetic cubes, leave the mod community to do that. Just improve the phisycs, bring us water, make the solar system to be in orbit, maybe new kind of planets and moons. Its europa and titan on this game? If not i want that. Imagine customized solar systems or procedural generated, solar systems with red giants as a sun, or whithe dwarfs, or black holes on the interstellar style, or pulsars, imagine being on a moon around a planet like saturn. I want to create more detailed ships, follow the example lf empirion where u can put any texture on any block and look how many block shapes are on empyrion. Can u give the icons a little more life? Or true lcd screens.. Etc etc
So you'd pay for a dlc that had "Physics Updates" in it? I don't know what you expect the devs to do. I paid £10.99 for space engineers when it was first released in early access a good few years ago. It's now 2020 and if the devs didn't release paid dlc they would've went bust ages ago. They don't ask much for each dlc , just be glad that a game this old still has the community that it does. Thanks mainly to the modders for that, but they have to pay the bills somehow.

It has THOUSANDS of blocks , many of them with various functionality to play with.. And what we have here? Oh!! New neon lights!! Yay!! So much to play with... LOL
Compared to other SE updates also Mojanng is a larger developer and they put more time between updates Also if you want to go down the missed route you do the same to SE their are thousands of mods on the steam workshop

Also Minecraft got a whole different type of corporation to back it up. I think this is great and I'm looking forward to play with this (even the hinge mod has been around for a while) - now it's "legal" as in vanilla 😃

Decoys will draw lightning. No harnessing afaik but yeah.
