I glossed over it, but the cave is just button press to go up and down. That part really wasn't supposed to be one of the difficult modifiers 😅 Sorry if my voice sounds a bit strained. Maybe the magic drills can fix this cough I've had 🙃
FWIW, braided belts can hold a *LOT* more items than a regular belt and three types can move 90 items per second. (Credit to JD Plays for that insight.)
Yo, I gotta say I love factorio and there aren't very many youtubers. Keep up the good work, since this niche ain't too big you should get pretty popular! Loving the video :)
@@KeithOlson Oh gosh, expensive mode blue belt would have been brutal though. Gear cost is also doubled, it just didn’t end up mattering for this run😅
I have a hypothesis on how the experiensive mode was added. 1. All expensive recipes are new normal recipes based on the expensive mode cost. They are initially hidden 2. When trigger happens, it reveals expensive mode recipes 3. Then, it switches recipes on all assemblers and hides the original recipe 4. IDK if this is technically possible, but it might also set crafting progress to its previous value
The way factorio handles recipes internally is by having separate normal and expensive ones when you create them (or you only define a single recipe for those with no change), so switching between normal and expensive at runtime should just be able to work
that's similar to how foresters work in IR3 yeah, there's a huge pile of recipes stored that it tabs between as foresters find more or fewer trees in their radius.
With all the random crap happening and small random things having ripple effects this felt like oxygen not included. Great video, respect for pulling through!
i feel like without some of the annoying tedious things in this mod it is also such a cool concept with the different layers and such. ye im not that far into the video yet btw but the layers concept seems reallly cool
This mod is genuinely impressive, I didn't realize it was possible to make anything like this. The popup at the start and the shop look simple but I've not seen anything like them in Factorio. Two comments on the video, while it generally is fantastic, you skipped the part where you found the way into the cave, so I have no idea how you're getting in and out of the cave. Second was just that the lack of lights made it really really hard to see anything in the caves, at least on my phone. I'm sure it's more visible on stream, but your cuts in this video are really fast paced, so it's harder to keep up when it's so dark.
I thought the emphasis on the toolbar and the mouse click made it clearer. It's just a button that takes me up and down. And yeah the mod overrode the day mode I played with to make things visible. When the details of what I was doing was important I used secondary footage with lights
@@Antipatience It's all good, small oversights happen, especially when you're staring at a video that you yourself edited and know what to look for! I just finished the video (my og comment was written halfway through), overall I think your commentary is fantastic and the audio was bang on throughout. Video wise I think a few of your cuts were a little bit too fast and my non speedrunner brain was struggling to keep up and process everything on screen, especially with all the weird stuff the mod was throwing in. That's overall pretty minor though, and I probably could follow much better on a rewatch. You make great videos man! Can't wait for whatever you cook up for 2.0!

I have to say, this video had me ROLLING. Officially subscribed and thanks for suffering for the sake of my entertainment. Respect. Also, did you ever figure out what magic drills did?
Glad you enjoyed! I did actually! Looked through the scenario code a couple hours ago and it makes them randomly mine different ore to force mixed belts.. I just never noticed cause I treated everything as mixed from the start 😂
This mod looks fun. The tunnels reminded me of gates in Exotic Industries. I was a bit anxious about them clogging up eventually, because it's a thing that may happen there - and, unlike in Exotic Industries, Diggy doesn't seem to have a mechanic to transfer logistic signals between surfaces.
Being able to filter the silo slots definitely helped a lot there. I've played other mods which let you transfer items and signals between layers but without the filtering, and I think I prefer this one way if I had to pick
The first thing that came to mind was that the magic drills might not require power. I'm sure you ruled that out, whether consciously or not, but you never know i guess. I didnt see a clip in the video of you placing drills without poles so maybe??? Maybe i missed it
Oh hm. I added a link to my map save since I forgot earlier which should work. This was pre 2.0 so you'd have to downgrade the version, but if you open the save and click restart once you're in the game should put you in a fresh version of the world
It's a mix of stuff. Mostly RedMew's April fools 2024/double trouble scenario. Uses their data pack along with alien biomes for the rocks/winter ground

Its actually been mathematically proven that no matter the time involved no randomly assembled list of letters will ever be a shakespear (or any other long book)
@ the reason is that each new entry is exponentially more likely to be wrong, and as such the error chance rises faster than the random solve rate. Meaning you will never get a valid solution.
@@joehelland1635 It's a comparison of infinite time and finite but exponential probability of failure. The monkey will eventually write all the works of shakespeare not just once, but an infinite amount of times. I'd love to see your mathematical proof.
