I love your tutorials! You’re teaching me to crochet! The only thing I would like to see you change is to add how you sew in your tails and go a little slower when introducing stitches.
Hello ! love the booksleeve! The one thing confusing ( as a beginner), is that when you were doing the chain, you did it at the lenght of the book but since it is an increase rounds it became way to big ! So I had to chain way smaller so that when i do do the sc with the increase and switch to the dc it don't become to big for the book.
Hi Houda, I am so happy you like it 😊 it was actually my first tutorial so I may not have explained it as well as needed. You only need to do the increasing on the bottom of the cover. Once you have the size you want, you will work in continuous rounds without joining and also without increasing putting only 1 stitch in each stitch around. Also, I used a HDC which is a half double. It's a shorter stitch than a DC so it lets you work in continuous rounds without having to join at the end of each round. I hope this helps. Thank you for your support! ❤❤
Hi Sarah! Not yet but it's a popular request so I am planning to do some color work patterns in the coming months with the dragon and moon theme. Right now I'm finishing my book tote design. That's the light blue one with handles. I should have that filmed and posted for February and then I'll work on the color work patterns. Thank you for your support!
Although my first attempt went poorly, mostly making the base too long and too wide not realising how much it would expand and a minor error on the increases, I am excited to make another one with some practice, for now I made a lengthwise cover it was so wide , but this is still the first time I have successfully made that increase to make rectangle shape and the tutorial was a good pace and very clear once I got the hang of it and for now I have a slightly wonky book cover for myself haha
Hi PH4! Thank you so much for trying my tutorial 😀 this was my very first book sleeve. You can also try my newer tutorial for larger 📚 books. Enjoy!! th-cam.com/video/WVnA_RavOj8/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
For a kindle or tablet you probably don't need to do the increasing on round 2 in the corners. Just do round one and then do one stitch in every stitch around starting from round 2. That would give you a more narrow sleeve. You could do HDC stitches like in the video or SC stitches. Both would work. Hope this helps 😊.
This is how you turn the corners while increasing to get the size you need for your base. Once you stop increasing the corners it should start to turn in like a bowl and go straight up. Is that happening for you?
Hi Carrie! No you can use any yarn you have for this type of project. I personally prefer cotton for a couple reasons. One it does stretch as much and it's really durable. But not having cotton shouldn't stop you. Acrylic will also work great. Enjoy!
Hi apricotteya, you can use any kind of yarn you want for a book sleeve. I prefer to use cotton yarn but I have seen others use acrylic so whatever you have will work fine :). I had a very thin cotton for this one so I just held 2 strands together so it was more like worsted weight but if you have worsted weight that will work just fine. Just adjust your starting chain based on the size of your book. You could do a small 2x2 inch square to test your yarn and hook before making the project. If you use a smaller hook than what is recommended it comes out a little more stiff and I sometimes like that for this kind of project. Hope this helps!
If you're talking about the beginning part, then those stitches are worked into the same space like an increase would be but in this case we do that to get around to the other side of the chain. Let me know if this helps :)
Hi Daphne! I don't have a written pattern for this one but I do for the royal ridge version. You can follow the written instructions for the BASE of this book sleeve and then when you get to the body just stop increasing and continue with HDC. You'll have to follow the video for the button attachment. Hope this helps! crochetcricket.ca/crickets-crochet-book-sleeve-tutorial-with-royal-ridge-stripes/
i cannot figure out how to add two and three stitches in the round part? i can't identify the difference between just the end of the row and the "round".
Hi Gutt, with this pattern you are working on both sides of the starting chain. On round 1 you work to the end but instead of turning you keep going. In order to get around to the other side of the chain you need to work 3 stitches in the very last chain so instead of doing 1 stitch you put 3 into the same space. Then you're on the other side of the chain. Now work around putting another stitch in each chain on the other side. So you're essentially working in a circle. When you get back to the start, you need to put 2 stitches into the same space as your starting stitch. At that point, I chose to keep working without joining but that is optional. You can join and chain 1 before continuing if that is easier for you. If you want a flat bottom bade instead of working in the round try my newest tutorial 😊 Hope this helps!
Hi Loren! It's because the first stitch of the new round has an increase so when you get back around you just need to finish increasing in the last 2 stitches. Hope this helps! Hi Adriana, for this project I don't have the pattern written out, I just have the video tutorial at this time showing you how to create the book sleeve to fit any sized book. I may create a written pattern later but I wanted it to be customizable on the video tutorial. Thanks!

Do you have pattern or tutorial for the one with dragon on your book cover sleeve ? I luv dragons 🤩

Hey! If I wanted to make a kindle sleeve instead of a book sleeve, should I be making any adjustments for width?

I did 232 on both ends is it still going to end up the same or will I have like a bowl?

I have a ton of yarn
.. no cotton. Do I need to use cotton?

Does the type of yarn we use matter?

How do you add three single stiches?
Hi Matil, are you talking about the single crochet rounds at the top or are you referring to the bottom part of the sleeve?
If you're talking about the beginning part, then those stitches are worked into the same space like an increase would be but in this case we do that to get around to the other side of the chain. Let me know if this helps :)
Is there a written patten for this😊
