Another fully comprehensive review, thanks man! I have 36 Tapo devices, but no cameras yet because thanks to you, my 7 cameras are covered by Reolink, but am tempted to add a Tapo camera or 2 for indoors use, to keep an eye on the pets.
I was just looking to see if a window mount existed. Hopefully one will by spring when I redo my camera setup. Pretty happy with the C120. Oddly enough I've found that when its spotlights turn on the image is worse. Its starlight sensor could be a little better to match Wyze's but that won't be an issue when I get some new lighting installed next spring too.
The white body of the camera creates a reflection through a window, especially if it's double-glazed. I use a larger piece of thick black foam from an exercise mat I cut up. You don't have to stick the foam to the window, you just cut a hole and the camera will hold it in place. Then, you just stick the camera to the window using the supplied mount. I used black gaffer tape to stop the white surround reflection. You can cover the whole front of the camera, as you can't use the spotlights or the infrared though a window, then you just leave the camera in daylight mode. It works great under street lighting, but obviously extra lighting would give even better results.
Excelent review! Thank you. I bought this camera to point it at my back garden through the window, for now I just taped the metal base directly to the glass and attached the camera to it. The issue I have encountered now is that night boost mode you talk about on 01:31-01:50 somehow turns itself back on again after I turn it off and get back out of the setting menu. I tried setting it to indoor and ouitdoor modes, tried resetting the camera - it still does it. Any ideas why that might be? Thank you.
I have all my Reolink bullet cams mounted inside looking out through windows - disadvantage - no night IR or spotlights - advantage - keeps them clean, warm, no rain, dirt, spiderwebs, no drilling CAT5 cables through solid concrete brick walls.
Great video this is exactly what I was looking for. My Logitech Circle camera broke and was looking for a replacement camera that I could mount on my window and didn’t require a subscription service 👍
Thank you for the info! I’m wondering about Tapo and TP-Link’s dedication to the brand. When I looked on Amazon, they only list a couple of their camera and the TP-Link Amazon homepage doesn’t really list cameras. Is this a line they are committed to?
The C120 is performing better than my Wyze Cam V3 especially in notification speed. Still testing it but person detect is what I bought it for, especially because it’s free. Let’s hope they don’t do what Wyze did in the early days and just remove the free service.
Hi nice review as always 🙂 is it possible to do this settings setup eg for the Eufy S350 so it can detect from inside a van to the outside through the windows if sb is walking by? Thank you a lot!
So mic camera is picking your motion sound up while you do distance test through the glass.?? If people would think out the box, they would just buy velco strips to put on camera and stick directly on glass..my window wyze v3 cant pic up sound through the glass...so either this mic in video is better then wyze or you used a secondary mic out side ....i can hear your clothes walking motion..how do you explain that .
@@LifeHackster my bad I guess I miss that part...I use blink and wyze ..blink is garbage on motion pick ups ..I use sd card with wyze..I put a blink next to wyze so when blink gets a notification time stamp I can go on wyze and over lap footage to see why blink gave notification..wyze every 5 minutes comes in to play also... Your a great dude......nice to have come across your channel..I love analyzing videos..like cameras that follow a person..if there are 2 people I was told in another video of your it will follow the bigger person....maybe one of these days u can use 2 people and see who the camera will follow..
I have the Tapo C125 and have to say its FOV is great. If you want a single camera, with wide FOV, behind glass I think the C125 could be a better option.
Are there any cameras thru glass I can use on a battery OR plugged into a battery pack? I’d like to install a camera thru glass on my door so running wires to an outlet is not a good option. Please help!!!
Could you please show me how to put window mount for Tapo C125 which is only available in Best Buy? I couldn't do it, it doesn't show video in the night due to reflection
I wish they would offer full control over the noise reduction, as temporal noise reduction in low light will blur subjects, and result in less detail than just using a weaker noise reduction, or a profile based noise reduction that uses factory set noise reduction profiles based on noise samples from each ISO stage.
@@LifeHackster Thanks. I think i will put them indoor behind a window. I do some research and there as a newer model of the Tapo. The Tapo C125 with Apple Home Kit support. Sounds awesome..
Thank you. Tip your hat to your son for creating that 3D printed mount. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you to your son for the 3D printed mount--it is perfect. That's why this channel is the go-to for these reviews
Your son did a great job! 👏👏💪. The cam does pretty good on the window mount.
Thank you and thanks for watching!

I'm currently using the Girafit W150 window camera, and it's fantastic! The installation is super convenient, and it's better than other brands.
Good review, especially showing the licence plate. What about the day/night picture/video quality comparision among the tapo C120, Eufy and Wyze?
Another great review, and many thanks to your son for the mount.

There are isolation around your windows so you don't need to drill through concrete.
Excellent job by your son. 😊

Hi i need you opinion which is the best camera for indoor but hanging in the window, thank you
What about installing an anti glare window film, will it help with through window camera?
Can you recommend any mount that I can order from amazon since I do not have a 3d printer?

I will :)
Hurricane glass is laminated. Will this work with that?
Yes.
Great as usual.

Have a few solar lights outside instead of spotlight use and c120 picks up great footage for price

The C320WS doesn't seem to have the night boost option 😒
does anyone make a window mount for Nest camera?

@@LifeHackster thank you!
1. Your son’s amazing.
2. At $11 more than Eufy C120, the Eufy seems to be the best bet. The $20 Tapo C110 would be the better comparison w/ the Eufy.
Thank you.
Couldn’t you still use this camera outside under your eaves or gutter? As long as it’s protected from the rain? Or no?
This cam has no problem with rain. Its an indoor and outdoor cam
Review Tapo C125 please
Tapo C120 or Eufy C120?
Either of them will work. The Tapo will edge out if you are putting them outside. They eufy one is not rated for outdoor use.

Thez should make an option to turn on siren manually
after getting a notification, you can still open the SD card to see the playback video even without a subscription to the cloud.
I dont know... paying 15 USD for the Wyze Cam OG makes this not comparable to Wyze IMO
If you don’t need smart notifications then I agree.
