    That is EXACTLY the information I was looking for. There is 1 way to speed up the cleaning, if you have a bowl large enough to hold your colander: put the berries in the colander, add to bowl with the water & vinegar/salt. That way you would not have to transfer them.

    The thing about insects in produce is that any produce imported when it is out of season in the USA is processed with irradiation as mandated by the USDA. If you are worried about a little extra protein with your fruit, wash your USA grown fruits thoroughly as they have not had all the little creatures and bacterial killed off prior to putting it out on the shelf.

    Why would you see bugs crawling out of a strawberry that is loaded with pesticides?🤣 They're all probably dead and stuck inside your strawberries

    With ALL that VINEGAR and SALT, I think I'd rather just rinse good with cool water taking off the leaves, dry off with paper towels, place on a flat pan or plate, put in freezer (uncovered) just until frozen, then put in freezer bags and keep in freezer until needed.

    Actually you should be adding Peroxide to the water instead of the vinegar. Peroxide naturally removes the pesticide film on fruits and vegetables.

      I grow strawberries blackberries and blueberries and have not been able to eat them since I have discovered worms in all of them. It's some kind of Asian fruit fly that's made its way to the United States. I get so many delicious blackberries but I end up putting them in the freezer and then throwing them away because I was so grossed out. I'm going to try and put netting or something over the fruit.🤢

      @@justbeachy2031 I was told it's a good thing when bugs are still interested in fruits and veggies. When they arent that means its genetically modified. After I wash them I don't feel as creeped out.

      @justbeachy2031 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rossothecrimson7 I was told the same thing only it was regarding pesticides. That hasn't helped my psyche yet. Now we know why berries are listed in the dirty dozen. I actually dug up my strawberries which were doing really well, transplanted them to a pot, even though I knew it was risky. I was going to put netting over them and feel like I had some sort of control. I guess I'll find out. Meanwhile, the plants were all loaded with strawberries about ready to ripen and I had to cut them way back and start all over.
