I lived in Liverpool for a number of years. I never lived anywhere as accepting or anywhere that felt more like I home. I dash out to Crosby, Aigburth, Sefton Park, Abercrombie Square, Allerton etc. when ever I get a chance. I became me in that city. The greatest city in earth.
I remember Flat Stanley!!! Omg that brought me back. Really hope you get a house sorted sooner rather than later but have a fun time traveling and exploring the North in the meantime.
I think I prefer the S.E./Home Counties more than London itself (as a whole). I’m bound by affinity to the side of it south of the Thames (very-much so) but I can absolutely leave Dagenham and anywhere-else outside south London that’s not Camden.
When I last visited Liverpool, I stayed in Chester. I would definitely check it out, it's a very nice town, and staying in Liverpool, you're really close. Wish I had more time in Liverpool, though, very interesting city. The Wirral has some nice sea towns, but there's a very nostalgic vibe to it, and lots of faded glory. All easily accessible by Merseyrail.
Totally agree. I spend 1 day in Liverpool and walked around the same area Evan was in - I would have traded that easily for a little more time in Chester.
Agreed. But Chester is not a town, it's a City. And one of Britain's oldest cities. Founded in 79AD, it's 1128 years older than Liverpool. Which wasn't founded until 1207AD.
It's so crazy to see you so close to were I live. I live on the Wirral, that 'town' you mentioned over the water, (it's actually a peninsula full of towns, but hey, we don't always appear on maps, so meh.) My partner and I had our first date on the docks, by all those pad-locks, and it's nice to remember. I will say though, Liverpool is a great place for culture and history, and if you travel over to the Wirral, there's even more, including a tram museum, beautiful town halls, and more. Also, take the Ferry, it's an experience. Welcome to the North West, and hopefully things get better for you Evan!
@@04nbod Everyone not from the Wirral just assumes were Scousers, but theres a pretty identifiable difference in tone and accent. At this point though, I've just accepted that most people will think I'm from Liverpool. Also, I'm in Leasowe/Wallasey!
Welcome to the North West Evan. Feel free to come over to Manchester at some point while you are up here. Plenty to see and do in my beautiful city. You will find people are much more friendly up here!
12:55 That historic apartment and attractions complex you looked at is the Royal Albert Dock. Opened in 1846 it was the first dock in the world that allowed ships to load and unload directly into and out of the warehouses. In the 1980s the by then long-disused warehouses were converted into the apartments, shops, restaurants, museums and galleries you see today. The Red ship stuff you mention is all the original infrastructure used to load and unload the warehouses.
I'm from Moreton (a town on the Wirral) and genuinely it was lovely to see someone who's lived in the South point out Liverpool's beauty. It's different gravy up here than in southern towns and cities so enjoy it as much as you can. I'd highly recommend visiting the Wirral if you can; go to New Brighton or West Kirby if you get the chance (for all their flaws, they are lovely for first-time visitors of the paradise peninsula).
OMG Stress!! Liverpool is a great option for in between though. That was our first stop on a lovely circle tour of northern England. Great memories, including the staircase. I hope that your move goes smoothly, don’t envy the uncertainty.
@@ruthie9757 Cheap Drinks, La'gO on Colquitt St. Historic pubs: Ye Cracke, the Philharmonic, the Caledonia, Peter Kavanaghs. Museums, go to all six. Food, Tokyo Berry St, Pho on Bold St and Cafe Tabac also on Bold St. Slightly out of town you have the Albert Dock (featured in this video) and the Baltic Triangle full of independents. Out of town you have the unique vibe of Smithdown Road where loads of students live and mix with the locals. You have an abundance of parks, big park like Sefton Park, Princes Park, Calderstones Park.
Hope everything works out alright, Evan! I’m a firm believer in throwing yourself in at the deep end, you’ve GOT to find ways around any problems. You can really surprise yourself. Good luck! 😃
They say moving is about the most stressful thing after bereavement and imo that's true. Change can be very unsettling sometimes. Cried my eyes out last time after 15 mostly happy years on the South Coast. But I've been even happier where I moved to in Scotland. With new beginnings come new opportunities and new things to experience. Good luck with it all.
Seeing you in a place I grew up is so amazing, seeing you enjoy Liverpool like I always did is amazing. Also! I strongly recommend Yard & Coup for some amazing chicken!!
You actually walked very near to the site of the the first ever US consulate! The first overseas consulate of the fledgling United States was founded in 1790 at Liverpool, Great Britain, by James Maury Jr., who was appointed by Washington. Maury held the post from 1790 to 1829. Liverpool was at the time Britain's leading port for transatlantic commerce and therefore of great economic importance to the United States.
So lush to see Liverpool... Not been back to visit family since before covid. Funny to see you talk about the fancy stairs when I've actually walked up/down them! Hope you have a lush time in Liverpool, it really is a lovely city. The walker art gallery is awesome too if you get the chance to go!
We had Flat Stanley in elementary school here in Indiana, too! Our whole class read the book (about the kid who gets flattened by his falling bulletin board) and then we all got to color in a paper "Stanley" and mail them off to an out-of-state relative who then would bring Stanley on an adventure where they live and then send him back with a bunch of photos of his travels. Then we all got to share our Stanley's adventures with the class. One of ours went to a cousin in Washington and the other went to a cousin in Florida, who was actually on vacation in California at the time. They came back with pictures from Mount Rainier and Disney Land. It was actually a pretty cool assignment!
Hey Evan, a lot of my family is from New Brighton which is one of the towns you could see over the other side of the river Mersey. It’s so cool to see you in places I’ve grown up visiting! Some ideas of things to do for you: - See the Anthony Gormley statues on Crosby beach, good photo op there! - Go on the ferry (..across the Mersey 🎵) - Visit Chester Zoo - All the museums in the City Centre are great, and they’re free I think. - Not sure if it’s still there but there’s a big wheel by the arena which gives great views of the city. - Visit both the cathedrals, even if you’re not religious (I’m not) they’re great from an architectural and historical point of view. - Visit the Albert dock (that’s on the other side of those apartments with the red metal work on them) Hope these might be helpful!
Reminds me of a time in my life was leaving my mate (US version) with our 2 yo son and cat going from CA to IL in a car with no AC in summer, by myself and my household goods were in moving truck being unloaded into a storage unit that my friends husband would lock up for me. I had no job, no address, my nursing license renewal slip had not been forwarded and now I was going???? Thankfully the nursing license dept was supportive and got me sorted out , friend took us in for 10 days, found apt and staggered on. But dang...it took a lot out of me. Never want to do anything like that again..ever.
Liverpool, like Glasgow is surprisingly nice. You hear the horror stories of people who grew up there but I think it's just because the scousers like to to tell a long tale. As those things happen on every council estate I have known.
so sad that your going through this but am so thankful you have a friend with u so u don't have to move all that way on your own good luck with everything xxx
Ah good luck! I lived near you and met you once in Gunnersbury park with my sister, so sad I won’t be able to see those pictures of you guys at the river literally 5 minutes away from me, but hope you have a great time!

Liverpool is one of my favourite cities, I haven’t been since the pandemic so seeing you explore is so strange. I think you’ll be very at home there and hopefully everything will turn out good :)
As someone who's renting an apartment with a stove with only 2 stovetops, I feel you and I suggest you get one of those portable ones you can plug in. Really useful and has saved my sanity many times before 😂
Welcome to Liverpool!! You'll have a great time. Socially were an amazing city, and were very welcoming. Look for a place to live in the south end, around sefton park, it's beautiful. The park is lovely too. Lark lane area is very nice and quite bohemian. Enjoy 😊

I lived in London for nearly 20 years - Hammersmith, Holloway, Wimbledon Wood Green & Tooting. Liverpool really rocks, absolutely amazing history, architecture, beautiful parks, particularly Sefton, some of the best restaurants in the country, theatres, museums, seaside resorts, can manage the city centre on foot... Honestly like a mini London. There's nothing I can think of that it lacks!. Oh, on a more minor matter, London equivalent properties around 3 times more expensive.
I spent a few days in Liverpool the other week, I love it there, especially down by the docks with the mix of all the old and new architecture!! We did a ride on the river ferry, and it was a nice way to find out some more facts about the area and view both sides of the river.
I've lived in Liverpool for three years and I love it. Your walk about there was a point where I could see my flat and its crazy to think you're in my city. Hope you love it!
Another place you need to visit in south Liverpool is lark lane. Loads of independent restaurants. Also that’s right by Sefton park which is always a must to see the palm house
Where the heck in Liverpool are you with the internet being so slow?! Ours is so fast in my house. Honestly Liverpool is one of my favourite places in the world. You should check out central library if you get the chance, it's gorgeous inside. So much history to be found in the city as well!
As someone about to do my third move of the year due to issues with buying a house (luckily this is the final one into a house I own, and has already completed, thank god) I have a lot of sympathy! Good luck with it.
I doubt it! I have few friends who moved from London to Liverpool and Manchester (sold their flats in London and bought houses in Liverpool. and Manchester) - they all regret it! - And they cannot now afford to move back to London anymore.
There was a film with Flat Stanley. I'm pretty sure he posted himself to China or something to go see a penpal. He was animated but the film was normal. It was pretty weird. Anyway, enjoy Liverpool.
I'm sure you didn't really want to know, but.... Apart from taking up a bit less space that 2 ring hob probably doesn't require a dedicated electrical supply & will have a 13A fused outlet, or even a 3 pin plug.
evan being impressed by liverpool one and the odeon staircase is weirdly day brightening as someone who's been in and out of town for the past few years
Great minds think alike - I was thinking of Ormskirk, too! A few years back, I went to one of the summer fairs at the parish church and they did tours of the tower. It's quite something to see what's up there!
Bold Street for restaurants, Baltic triangle for food and drinks, Hope street for 2 cathedrals (go inside). New Brighton by train for street art. Lark Lane and Sefton park too.
Others have said it here, but if you like historic, I strongly recommend a trip to Chester. 45 mins on the train from Liverpool. Try to go during the week; it gets busy at weekends.
Ours had 50 or 70 tops, I believe. Which was pretty poor considering there were about 150 students in our residence. Communal kitchen in the basement for a building with 3 stories. Unfortunately it got knocked down the year after, the chip factory nextdoor needed to expand... Curse you, IMEC!
We went on a few school trips to Liverpool. We visited the slavery museum (depressing but very important) and the space museum (which I think has closed and is being turned into a different science museum).
You are in Liverpool. That is near Blackpool. In Blackpool is is currently illumination season, the wonder of the northern world. (Also the UKs best and most british theme park). There's a hell of a travel video in reach there.
Seeing you in Liverpool One is crazy, and reallllyyy weird. Like I've been there, and I go there, I'm not used to you being in places that are my normal.
which book was that?? the flat Stanley I grew up with was crushed by a giant bulletin board that was hanging above his bed. he woke up flat the next morning.
First time I've ever heard that Liverpool is like LA 😂 if you're looking for things to do • Lark Lane - lots of really nice restaurants • Sefton Park • Crosby beach - Anthony Gormley's another place/iron men statues • the world museum • St John's beacon • Anglican cathedral - not sure if it's still there but have an installation of 15000 paper peace doves • Baltic market/ghetto golf
Liverpool? I recommend a visit to Chester. You could take a stroll along the walls, visit the racecourse, shop on the rows, see the remnants of the amphitheatre, lots of things to see and do.
Just watched the video about Why Won't Leave London on other channel, and just seen this video about moving out of London? Admittedly I have not quite finished the Why Won't Leave London video so more info could have been revealed at end!!
Hope I see you down Sefton sometime !!! You’ve been one of my fav youtubers for a long time now so it’s veryyyy exciting your in the city now😆hope you enjoy it above everything though :)
Flat Stanley! My kids do this once in a while. Depending on the teacher. It's still a thing here in the states. We sent Flat Stanley to my SIL in Queensland Australia and she was kind enough to write a whole travel blog in Flat Stanley's POV for my daughters. Their classrooms loved it!
Liverpool native here. More and more people are staying in Liverpool, has a high rate of students graduating here that become enamoured with the place and decide to stay.
The place on the other side of the Mersey is the Wirral, you should definitely pop over there, there's a country park, some beaches! I grew up there so I'm biased but it's a great place to visit!
I just came across, searched how to grow the avocado indoor . And find out what his plant being 5 years old gonna be. But at the same time here I am a witness of the big beginning. I bet you gonna go well man! And plus, I've subscribed already.hehe

Excited to watch along in this next phase of your life ✊
I lived in Liverpool for a number of years. I never lived anywhere as accepting or anywhere that felt more like I home.
I dash out to Crosby, Aigburth, Sefton Park, Abercrombie Square, Allerton etc. when ever I get a chance.
I became me in that city. The greatest city in earth.
How can I like this comment more?!
I remember Flat Stanley!!! Omg that brought me back. Really hope you get a house sorted sooner rather than later but have a fun time traveling and exploring the North in the meantime.
I’m from Liverpool and once you come here, you will not want to leave. Liverpool such a fab place, full of warm friendly people!
Liverpool - Great choice!
Few months time: Can't believe I wanted to live in London, Liverpool is actually so much better
I think I prefer the S.E./Home Counties more than London itself (as a whole). I’m bound by affinity to the side of it south of the Thames (very-much so) but I can absolutely leave Dagenham and anywhere-else outside south London that’s not Camden.
Moving is incredibly stressful ,but you will have many new experiences to discover where ever you go.
As a scouser, welcome to our beautiful city ❤
When I last visited Liverpool, I stayed in Chester. I would definitely check it out, it's a very nice town, and staying in Liverpool, you're really close. Wish I had more time in Liverpool, though, very interesting city. The Wirral has some nice sea towns, but there's a very nostalgic vibe to it, and lots of faded glory. All easily accessible by Merseyrail.
Totally agree, Chester is lovely! Spent a day there a few years ago when on a Manchester trip and was quite surprised how much there is to see.
Chester is a city. Not a town.
Totally agree. I spend 1 day in Liverpool and walked around the same area Evan was in - I would have traded that easily for a little more time in Chester.
Just make sure you aren't on the O2 network. It basically doesn't exist in Chester.
Agreed. But Chester is not a town, it's a City. And one of Britain's oldest cities. Founded in 79AD, it's 1128 years older than Liverpool. Which wasn't founded until 1207AD.
this is such a cheery casual vlog for a video where you're documenting your homelessness 😂😂 so much fun, love it. I hope you secure a place soon!
All I know about the place is that Tom Scott doesn't like it. (Hi from across the channel!)
Yes! Good to see another wool here, up the paradise pensinsula
I LIVE ON THE WIRRAL TOO
@@poppymcpeake9961 Me tooo....!!! Birkenhead, not scouse
Just wanted to post pretty much the same thing. So glad Evan finally made it further up north.
I really hope everything will turn out well. It is so lovely to see the two of you making the best of it and enjoying life during this crisis.
I’m moving to Liverpool for uni in a few weeks and this has ignited so much excitement 😆
I go there for uni and its such an awesome city for student life!!
@@laurenmoxham1653 I’m so excited- any recommendations??

Really hope the move turns out well; wishing you and Bliss all the best!
So this is why The Beatles left Liverpool all those decades ago. They knew they couldn't compete with Evan.
I live a 20 minute drive away from Liverpool. Its a fabulous city!!
You can hop on a ferry to the Isle of Man 🇮🇲 from Liverpool, it’s really nice over there.
So lush to see Liverpool... Not been back to visit family since before covid. Funny to see you talk about the fancy stairs when I've actually walked up/down them!
Hope you have a lush time in Liverpool, it really is a lovely city. The walker art gallery is awesome too if you get the chance to go!
Hang in there, Evan! I know it can be tough, but you've made much more difficult moves in your life already. Everything will turn out absolutely fine
Welcome to Merseyside Evan, be sure to come up the Northern Line on the train to Southport to see a proper old school seaside town
Some ideas of things to do for you:
- See the Anthony Gormley statues on Crosby beach, good photo op there!
- Go on the ferry (..across the Mersey 🎵)
- Visit Chester Zoo
- All the museums in the City Centre are great, and they’re free I think.
- Not sure if it’s still there but there’s a big wheel by the arena which gives great views of the city.
- Visit both the cathedrals, even if you’re not religious (I’m not) they’re great from an architectural and historical point of view.
- Visit the Albert dock (that’s on the other side of those apartments with the red metal work on them)
Hope these might be helpful!
Great moving vlog evan!
Perfect timing mate, cause im moving tomorrow as well.
Also, got a dodie concert advert before. Once again, great timing :D
You guys were the only people who've ever recognised me in the park despite the fact I practically lived in there!
@@evan We were so happy we had met you because some pictures you took near The Bulls Head and the deli near Budgens etc, were so close to us and we were thinking, when are we going to meet you, when are we going to meet you?! And then we met you with dodie in the park, amazing! You guys were so lovely and sweet, wishing you all the best in Liverpool.
Really useful and has saved my sanity many times before 😂
Can't believe you stayed in the apartment hotels, we didn't like that when we stayed there in Liverpool
Welcome to Liverpool!! You'll have a great time. Socially were an amazing city, and were very welcoming. Look for a place to live in the south end, around sefton park, it's beautiful. The park is lovely too. Lark lane area is very nice and quite bohemian. Enjoy 😊
those red things sticking out the building in the Albert dock (around minute 13 are actually the old toilets used by the workers when it was a warehouse (no longer in use obvs) - had to do part of my history gcse on the docks :) (also u should go to the world museum in town its really good)
I lived in London for nearly 20 years - Hammersmith, Holloway, Wimbledon Wood Green & Tooting.
Saying "This is a nice day” - while pointing to the sky that looks like it’s going to start raining any moment is such a British thing
As someone that only had 2 hobs for 4 years (yay student housing), you just learn to cook a lot of one-pot meals and use the microwave and oven a lot
Evan: sombre moment saying goodbye to his old room
Next scene: *M O O N*
Visit both cathedrals while you're there, I'm not religious but the architecture blew me away! Great city, great people.
I doubt it! I have few friends who moved from London to Liverpool and Manchester (sold their flats in London and bought houses in Liverpool. and Manchester) - they all regret it! - And they cannot now afford to move back to London anymore.
Sorry - replied to wrong comment!😒
@@kashd4668 Still a true comment, once you leave London the door slams shut unless you’re rich or lucky on the lottery!
I’m from the north west and I absolutely love Liverpool
There was a film with Flat Stanley. I'm pretty sure he posted himself to China or something to go see a penpal. He was animated but the film was normal. It was pretty weird. Anyway, enjoy Liverpool.
I'm sure you didn't really want to know, but....
Apart from taking up a bit less space that 2 ring hob probably doesn't require a dedicated electrical supply & will have a 13A fused outlet, or even a 3 pin plug.
evan being impressed by liverpool one and the odeon staircase is weirdly day brightening as someone who's been in and out of town for the past few years
Come to Ormskirk on the train and I’ll show you a really old church with both a tower and a steeple :)
I've lived in a small studio apartment with 2 stove places for the past 8 years, and it's not fun!
Best city in the world. Good choice Evan lad.
I love Liverpool. Beautiful city! Thank you for the video!
wishing you the best of luck with figuring out your situation, loved the video!
Others have said it here, but if you like historic, I strongly recommend a trip to Chester. 45 mins on the train from Liverpool. Try to go during the week; it gets busy at weekends.
I lived in Lpool for 4 yrs for uni. You'll love it! You'll love the centre, and bold street. Careful tho, you'll love it and not want to leave
Come to Chester please!!! It's literally half an hour on the metro! Its such a beautiful city
You'll learn to love Liverpool, I came in 2012 for university and I haven't left :) good luck in the next stage of your life
My student residence only had two hobs on the stove. It drove me round the bend! Cooking was so slow
Like I've been there, and I go there, I'm not used to you being in places that are my normal.
which book was that?? the flat Stanley I grew up with was crushed by a giant bulletin board that was hanging above his bed. he woke up flat the next morning.
yeah that's the one
i thought you were holding a bunch of weird machine guns in the thumbnail
First time I've ever heard that Liverpool is like LA 😂 if you're looking for things to do
• Lark Lane - lots of really nice restaurants
• Sefton Park
• Crosby beach - Anthony Gormley's another place/iron men statues
• the world museum
• St John's beacon
• Anglican cathedral - not sure if it's still there but have an installation of 15000 paper peace doves
• Baltic market/ghetto golf
Liverpool? I recommend a visit to Chester. You could take a stroll along the walls, visit the racecourse, shop on the rows, see the remnants of the amphitheatre, lots of things to see and do.
Just watched the video about Why Won't Leave London on other channel, and just seen this video about moving out of London? Admittedly I have not quite finished the Why Won't Leave London video so more info could have been revealed at end!!
i love bliss
God this suucks. I hope you're doing good and get to get settled soon!!
The place on the other side of the Mersey is the Wirral, you should definitely pop over there, there's a country park, some beaches! I grew up there so I'm biased but it's a great place to visit!
