Sorry, fairly new to your channel , the pop of colour thingy for your bed is called a throw , mine's a dark grey velvet but I'm googling how to knit myself an ultra chunky knit one in violet ....or maybe navy 😉
Ok I need that hash recipe please! The flat is so bright and spacious, it’s going to look gorgeous once you’ve put your stamp on it. Congratulations again Evan, you deserve it xx
It is wonderful seeing all that anxiety and stress fall away from you and see you start to enjoy life again and get excited about all the things you planned for you flat and finally organising everything 😁 I got to that point recently too and it is a wonderful feeling, so happy for you
When you said you missed your knife....I understand...moved to the UK 6 months ago. Our stuff is STILL in the US. They hope 🤞 it will arrive by May. I miss my books and kitchen stuff!!
Yay! Welcome to the life of home ownership. My hubby and I moved around a LOT, we mostly moved into 'older' houses that already had toilet roll holders etc. However, house number 7 was a new build. We budgeted for the major things, like flooring, new furniture, wardrobes etc. but completely forgot about toilet roll holders, curtain rails, towel rails, blinds for the bathrooms and kitchen, curtains for all the other rooms, light fittings (the house only came with a single bare bulb on a little dangly cord), lampshades etc. Yeah, lets just say that the setup for that house went waaaaaaaay over budget!
Protip with the cables. If you have any left over Roses/celebration/heroes tubs you can store all the wires by type and they nicely stack. I now have a tower sitting under my desk with them all in, easy to get hold of what I want and looks neat and tidy. Also did you ever get to sort out your heating? Did you need to turn on the boiler rather than trying to work it from the thermostat? We had the opposite problem once as I couldn't work out why the boiler wasn't heating, turns out I forgot to turn the thermostat back up after we went away for a bit. Doh. We just normally control the heating from the boiler controller so it never crossed my mind to check the thermostat.
I know this is all over now but when you said you might be meeting up with some friends for new years eve I was like "Yes you should definitely do that. You've had a hell of a year and that would be a great way to close that chapter of your life and move on to bigger and better things" I'm so glad you did.
I called it a bedspread while I lived/grew up in NJ. I haven't called it such since. Quilt, Comforter, Duvet (depending on the type). To me a bedspread is like those things they have in cheap hotels.
I'm really pleased for you Evan, especially after all the shite you had to go through to get to where you are now. The fun is to turn your new flat into your home - enjoy (I know from the main channel that you're making progress). BTW: I have a MEng degree and I have to read the manual whenever I want to change the timing on my heating - it shouldn't be that hard, but it is. Designers of heating programmers please take note (they won't). Mike
The relief on your face somewhere to settle, As for the cords I collected and hung mine over an indoor dryer to see, when the number of usb cords got into double figures ,and transformers I tossed out like mad put the ones I wanted into a pouch and some Backups in zip locks
I can say I've been to New Jersey! Took a wrong turn somewhere in Manhattan - ended up in Newark. So glad you've finally got your flat and you're able to set your stuff up... Congratulations!
I always forget Evan is from like Southern NJ until I hear his comments about how the state is boring and I’m like oh yeah that’s why 🤪 (In all seriousness, lovely to see another home vlog. Hope all continues to go swimmingly 👍🏻)
Congratulations 🎊 on the flat and finally being able to sleep, laugh, make memories and simply to enjoy being in your home 🏡 the accent bed covering that doesn't cover the pillows, sometimes you find it at the foot of beds in hotels is called a Coverlet, whereas a large 'sheet' that covers the entire bed i.e pillows, duvet. Thus goes all the way down to the floor, and is simpley called a Bedspread, this is normally made from chenille, wool or heavy cotton/linen really any material most people use these instead of a Coverlet as they add extra warmth and snugglyness to a bed in the winter 🥶 as well as your Duvet. 🤣 I have an entire closet dedicated to just bed linen, I also recommend having q low and high tog duvet so you are snug in the Autumn/Winter and just warm enough in the Spring/Summer...lots of hugs and best wishes for you in your new home...🤗💜
Hope the head of the bed won’t be again the window; that wouldn’t be good/“proper" feng shui. Bedspread: the set of bedding (pillow cases and sheets) comforter: the thing that goes on top of the sheet which is usually colorful
hello! plz tell me the brand of your couch/ sofa! I was looking such a color from one year and in june (maybe earlier) I will have my own flat. And fabric is great, too!
l managed to get my cables etc down to one bag lol. As for the heating the guy who installed it put my hot water on but not the heating so l bought a heater. See you're not the only one who cannot get it to work congrats on the new flat.
Hi Evan, we have the same thermostat and we’re just as clueless. If you ever figure it out, please do a tutorial because there’s nothing online. Help us lol thanks
Bedspread or comforter? I use them both. But I have come to realize that my family from PDX usez many british terms. There's also a duvet, but that is a pillowcase for a blanket!
I wish this didn't get buried in my sub box, I don't know if a lot of people uploaded at the same time or something but I did not see this. I didn't forget, just did not see.
@@EvanEdingerTravel I actually like your thumbnails for videos, they are quite different to what other people I'm watching are doing so I can instantly recognise if its your video (and obviously always watch, big fan thanks for replying)
Nest is a great thermostat. The interface is great, or just use the smartphone app. Don't try to install it yourself though, get a professional to do it as they can make sure it's all working correctly. For you bag of cables, get some zip lock bags and store cables in them as it stops them tangling around each other. You can then group similar bags into a box or bigger bag. So happy for you!
I just love how me moving in to an unfurnished flat feels exactly the same as you moving into your own flat. I'm still not past the TV on the floor and no bedside/coffee table step though 😅
Hahaha. "Who can say they have been to New Jersey?" I actually have been to Hoboken. Long story. Drinks on me in case I bump into you here in East London.
Lessons I learnt moving last time: Don't move into a new place on a Sunday in the middle of winter if you don't have a car or broadband or a duvet. Laying on bed in a room that's 6c is not a fun time and having no way to fix the problem is even worse
I hope you have gas heating, last time I was in a flat it was all electric and the bills killed me…and this was well before the current ridiculous prices.
So few boxes?! Last time I moved, I had more than 120 of them. And that was after getting rid of 10 boxes and 5 bags of books, filling a 30 cubic meter truck with stuff that was taken to the dump, and various other little things like that. Not that I recommend that, you understand! I call it a bedspread. Comforter is what we called a duvet (a word that no one where I grew up would know). Oh, horror! Cables and wires from thousands of devices that have long since been retired, but the cables live forever! And you no longer know what they are for!
Oh those default thermostats are surely intentionally poorly made. Swap it out ASAP. I personally love the nest 3rd gen, but I’m sure there are multiple options
@@evan I hope you like it. Anything is better than the absolute rubbish the builders install! I’m sure they’re contributing to global electrical wastage but installing such utter rubbish!
You should consider blocking the views from your windows! As someone who's viewed a lot of new developments around London, I know exactly which one you've moved into
Sort of the box of wires "Once and for all".... Good luck with that, they grow back!
bed spread is usually a thin covering or quilt covering, comforter is usually puffy like a duvet.
To throw another term into the mix, is a coverlet a bedspread? Because that's I what I call them
The "I might need it one day" cabling struggle is real.
Now I live hoping I never do need them!
"please, I need a charger to a 2006 nokia slide phone urgently!" --is what we're all waiting to hear some day
For me it's the "I don't know what this is for and I'm too scared to throw it away"

You should make videos "Cooking with Evan". I'm glad you are settling in!
I’m from KY and I say both bed spread and comforter.
Also, Bliss’s pillow tour was amazing.

A comforter is a duvet. A bedspread can go on all or part of the bed and can be a quilt or any other thin blanket. At least in my mind.
Quilt!
I'm Irish and a quilt is the same thing as a duvet to me. I don't know what a bedspread is...a blanket?

I call it a couverture or duvet, because I'm from Quebec, and French, and thus a lost cause
