I appreciate this very personal talk about his feelings towards a very emotional subject for so many fans of Linkin Park, and it always amazes me when I discover that famous musicians are basically just like me when the day is done😊❤
All of y'all have made such a huge impact on music for mental health awareness, and addiction and it's incredible to see the changes made across all genres.
Honestly, I wanted to hate her.. but hearing her sing the song "Numb". I couldn't. She's amazing. It tears me apart cause, of course, we all want Chester to be singing it. Yeah, it's been many years.. but this band was huge for our gen. If you're a true fan, you understand. That darkness. &for a lot of us, the loss still feels fresh...it was a HUGE loss. But that’s why it hurts but in a good way. It pains our heart because SHE reminds us of Chesters style. It’s so difficult to get someone to cover Chesters singing. It was way too high to try and copy. Only a woman could try and hit the octaves. But not only that, they found a woman that screams well too. They found their gem to move on. If I were Chester, I’d want them to move on too. That was just the kind of guy he was.
@@solarydays You think technique will completely change a voice to precisely mimic a person? By that logic Chester could have been coached to perform a Barry White tune because "technique" would give him that low range, timbre and resonance? Suffice to say you have no idea what you're talk about and signaling your toxicity. I'll say there's a few spots in the old songs live where her voice outshine Chester, her performance lifts Mike's voice in a new way and their harmonies sit in a whole new space within the music.
She doesn't believe in mental health support. The very thing that could have prevented Chester from taking his own life. She's also a scientologist with psycho beliefs.
I love Jacoby, hearing some of his experiences growing up when Papa Roach was starting out with his mate and hearing him honour Chester and Chris is awesome. It's a touchy subject for me, I've battled depression my entire life, had my first thoughts of quitting life when I was 5 (my mom told me I spoke to her about it). It scares me that with all of Chester's channelling his pain for so long. He didn't make it and it breaks my heart. Some days I wonder if I even stand a chance. Choosing life is a real challenge sometimes. I hope he's at peace.
I felt the same way, Chester will always be Chester and no one can replace him, but I love what Linkin Park is doing right now. I'm pretty sure a lot of fans didn't like it at first. But this is honoring Chester and the fans! We are here for it!!!
At First, I wasnt for the Idea of having her as the new Singer, then I Heard more Songs, and Made an 180° and I cant wait for a new era of Linkin Park 😍😍😍
i love seeing the new smiles from fellow LP fans, the smiles of Mike Shinoda and the whole band, and the chance of us who never got to see them live yet now we get that chance back ❤❤❤
Great the way this discussion is going throughout! Both are passionate and onpoint for each topic analyzed and it's been a while to hear such POV on alternative music evolution being analyzed with such emotional and personal intensity from both
In the essence it's about losing Chester and it meant depth to each of us from fans to friends alike due to Chester's personality, story, struggle and musical expression. Chester is exactly like each of us in (music is our emotional language); an outcast who will never fit in
I think LP is doing it perfectly. I think a lot of people feel the same way where Emily is great and it’s cool to have the band back, but you also can’t help but miss Chester anyway and we wish could hear him again. But that’s the point… you’ll never replace him, so let’s have someone new and great to sing along with the fans and help celebrate and remember Chester as well as give the rest of the LP members the opportunity to keep writing.
It's really a disgrace to Chester. Over time his memory will be replaced with searches of Emily has the singer. We're talking about the modern populace who has a 10 second memory and can't even remember how politicians got them just a few months ago.
I was just entering high school when Last Resort hit the airwaves and I remember how awesome that whole album was and how Papa Roach was everywhere for that album and the next. I haven’t really followed their music for the last 15 years, but seeing this interview I like the place Jacoby is in and his mature perspective. He seems to be doing good unlike a lot of other people that have been in the mainstream music industry that long.
@LeftMap I am around the same age as you, also loved Papa Roach in high school and Last Resort came out when I entered high school as well. I had also lost track of their music but about a year ago I looked them up on Spotify and had a listen and now I have a LOT of their songs on my top lists on Spotify. I read Jacoby had wanted to stop doing the more rap type of singing in PR so he kind of changed it up and his singing on the past 10+ years of albums is awesome. “Before I Die” is a huge favourite of mine, as well as “Falling Apart” and “Leader of the Broken Hearts” Highly recommend giving those ones a listen!
His silences during the begining of this video are so painful... but I'm so glad to find someone who feels the way I do about LP's comeback. I've been a Linkin Park fan for almost two decades now but I've been only getting into Papa Roach for the last year. Jacoby makes me feel extra glad I did, he seems to be an excelent guy.
Linkin Park was a huge part of my childhood. When Chester died, it ripped my heart out. Songs I used to love were painful to listen to. Bringing Emily in gave me the same love I had without over abundance of pain. She gave me my favorite band back. Her vocals remind me of his, but are different enough to be her own. I hope they do well, so they continue to release music.
I find them coming back with Emily makes me more sad, then again I was/am a massive fan of Chester. Also always loved Mike, have Fort Minor and his solo stuff, but I don’t feel that Emily is the right choice for LP. But not everyone will agree, and I’m happy that other people are finding healing and positive feelings with Emily.
Jacoby Mate... I found your album "Infest" when I was out street skating with mates... I was 13 in 2000 when I found it! It was next to the abandoned pool we were skating at the time! Took it home... the CD worked to my surprise! I must of listened to the whole thing for like 5 hours straight pal! Such great memories associated with that album man and that era! Mad love dude!
I feel the same way as he does. She's definitely talented and sounds amazing. But, I miss Chester and I can only imagine how wonderful he would sound on these lyrics and tracks. I just want to hear him again. R.I.P. Chester
@@brenttitus2134*saw them. And have you listened to anything they’ve released in the last 10-15 years? I hadn’t followed them much after Angels and Insects but recently listened to them again and Jacoby stopped the “rapping” type singing from the early Papa Roach and sings so talented, I have a number of their songs now in my top Spotify playlists. But yeah if you still don’t like them that’s okay. It just surprised me how much their music changed, for the better IMO though I like the old stuff too.
Dude, I understand. Chester was the kind of singer that just solidifies himself within the band, so much so, that his voice is like the very identity of the band.
I'll be totally honest... At first I refused to listen to it because I said how are they going to try to replace Chester... But one day I gave in and listened to this song... And that was my and most people's problem... Thinking of Emily as Chester's replacement... She is not a replacement she is part of the new chapter... And honestly I am here for the new chapter because she is great... She is the perfect person to bring out the new chapter of LP

He had me bring plates to Tour bus for after show, for ride to Cincinnati. Falling in Reverse was cool group of guys also. PR hit the stage with Kill the Noise 1st song.💪💪
I've been a huge fan of both of these bands for years! Meteora was the first album I ever bought, and a Papa Roach song is a huge part of my marriage. Hearing this, as a fan, means so much to the audience at large. But, and I need to get this off my chest, I think there's a correlation between Heavy Is The Crown (and Emily's sustained scream) and Chester's legacy. Her crown is heavy, passed to her by legends, and as a fan of those same legends, carrying that crown is hard. Chester is the reason she learned to scream, she's been an LP fan most of her life and she never wanted to replace Chester, she wants to honour him. With all the weight the fans put on it, on her, this is what we asked for.
I’m sorry but even though I miss Chester, the band getting back together is a chance for them to bring everyone together. We aren’t getting mad at journey, stone temple pilots, prodigy (which toured with LP), we aren’t getting mad at them. Why is everyone taking it out on LP?
during the first live event they did, when Mike introduced the band he said something to the effect of "and in the voice of Chester Bennington - is all of you" I'm not gonna lie, I got all misty eyed. Emily isn't Chester, but she is Linkin Park.
I'm glad to hear the support for Emily - she had/has a daunting task ahead of her, very high profile, and she is smashing it! I was a fan of Dead Sara and was happy to hear she is with LP now. Hope the critics can get it out of their system and let everyone move forward.
Seen Nightwish go through three singers now and the second got so much shit, she actively sabotaged her spot in the band rather than come back after maternal leave to a fresh wave of it. Love to see Emily not getting that level of BS.
Ever think of how hard it is for Emily? How much pressure she's under? How she's trying to live up to a fanbase that might never accept her. I loved Chester but I love the rest of lp too and they deserve to continue doing what they love.
@Magdi-c5p that's a personal problem. Its like if you lose your spouse. What are you supposed to do? Move on and find someone new or just stop and give up.
@joeyfrong1666 it's their music their band they can move on I listened few songs I don't enjoy and I'm not supporting new singer.you enjoy listen it's not for me anymore
not for me. it comes off as like watching someone on the Voice or AGT or something - very robotic and clean and Chester was the opposite. I am glad it helped you though.

@@wvufan63 Umm sorry but no this is not the same here for with whatever you had listened to that I don't know anything about or care as much probably as this was just a Linkin Park thing here you see and making that same comparison I just do not agree with simply... This was unexpected and I had only hoped for the best to come of it but it is clear for what has happened and what has been done now... I’m not going lie… I was in high school when Linkin Park showed up. There’s no replacing Chester. Period. Point blank. I was skeptical. Emily is REALLY damn good. I love her voice. When I heard that sustained scream in Heavy Is The Crown… My jaw dropped. When I was able to pick it up off the floor I realized it was a nod of respect to Chester. People need to get over the fact that Linkin Park is making music without Chester. Separate the two if you need to compartmentalize. Emptiness Machine and Heavy Is The Crown are legitimately good songs that every critic of the fact that Linkin Park got back together would love if Chester was on vocals. Look at it that way because Emily has an incredible sound.
Behave they should of changed the name like foo fighters , it’s an absolute disgrace , you were probably in nappies when I was listening to Chester! Milking his death and letting her sing his songs , anyone who agrees with it are no real fan!!! 🤮🤮
I understand what he's trying to say, i use to feel the same way when i first listen to their new song, its not emily the problem she's great, is the fact that it hurt's to listen to linking park expecting to hear chester voice and realizing that he's gone. Thats the heart breaking part cause he was they voice of linking park, but i also admire them for continue to do music for us fans after suffering such a devastating loss.
That hurts the most not to see and hear him and I can't enjoy it now I can't enjoy it with different singer ,never mind about controversy she brought that too but to take away that and purely focus on music she does not do it for me i tried listening to her and i can't i feel nothing just numb
I can’t get into the new stuff with Emily, and to me it would feel too weird seeing them live with only HALF of the band (Chester’s gone, Rob’s gone, and Brad won’t do tours anymore).
I saw LP in London last week and being my first time seeing them as sadly i regret not trying harder to get tickets when chester was alive i am so grateful and glad my favourite band are back. Yes I was skeptical and yes its sad to see two members of the original line up missing however the show was so good vocally and just one i feel so lucky to see. I think Emily is great for the band and yes of course nobody will be chester, his voice was one in a million and a voice that changed so many lives and we all miss him so much. However its a new start for LP and keeps his legacy going for many new fans and the future ❤

I appreciate this very personal talk about his feelings towards a very emotional subject for so many fans of Linkin Park, and it always amazes me when I discover that famous musicians are basically just like me when the day is done😊❤
Jacoby and Papa Roach knocked it out the park with leave a light on so amazing
All of y'all have made such a huge impact on music for mental health awareness, and addiction and it's incredible to see the changes made across all genres.
Honestly, I wanted to hate her.. but hearing her sing the song "Numb". I couldn't. She's amazing. It tears me apart cause, of course, we all want Chester to be singing it. Yeah, it's been many years.. but this band was huge for our gen. If you're a true fan, you understand. That darkness. &for a lot of us, the loss still feels fresh...it was a HUGE loss. We needed them then, and we need them now. LP, keep doing your thing.. WE NEED YOU. &Chester R.I.P. you beautiful gifted soul. 😢❤ LPForever
This comment is underated. Spoke right out of my soul.
Wait til you find out what she did a while back to a protestor against rape.
Im just just glad to have met Chester once before he passed.
Love the Brendon Urie shoutout! That guy has to come back man wow mad talent!
Jacoby is one of my favorite artists these days. Love Papa roach.
At First, I wasnt for the Idea of having her as the new Singer, then I Heard more Songs, and Made an 180° and I cant wait for a new era of Linkin Park 😍😍😍
i love seeing the new smiles from fellow LP fans, the smiles of Mike Shinoda and the whole band, and the chance of us who never got to see them live yet now we get that chance back ❤❤❤
💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 Exactly my thoughts

Agreed
My first cd was infest and I couldn’t stop listening to hybrid theory, I will always miss Chester. Emily is great and has all my support ❤.
Nobody can be or imitate Chester so pure heart❤
It makes me sick should of changed the band name like foo fighters
@@4rch3rslif what about AC/DC and Back in Black?
@@4rch3rslifthat's not for you to decide besides mike was the founder not Chester
I agree but they could have just formed a new band. It would have made everyone happy, especially fans of their older material.
@@Under-KaozAre you chester? No? Do you have any records of you singing? No? Wow,..
@@zios870 How do you know they don't have any records of them singing? You literally have no idea who they are.
@@Under-Kaoz I have to agree.
He seems so wholesome and down to earth. Love to see him talk
His cover of “White Room” with Apocalyptica is excellent!
Love your reaction dude! Huge fan of both LP and PapaRoach. ❤❤
Rip Chester and Cris! My heroes.
This is the first interview I saw with Jacoby and he's such a nice dude. Cut my eardrums into pieces, papa.
His silences during the begining of this video are so painful... but I'm so glad to find someone who feels the way I do about LP's comeback.
I've been a Linkin Park fan for almost two decades now but I've been only getting into Papa Roach for the last year. Jacoby makes me feel extra glad I did, he seems to be an excelent guy.
the idea that chester wouldn't want crowds of thousands singing along to LP songs with the band in its current form is insane
Love you Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Jacoby, and Emily!! 🤍🤘🔥❤️
I feel the same way as he does. She's definitely talented and sounds amazing. But, I miss Chester and I can only imagine how wonderful he would sound on these lyrics and tracks. I just want to hear him again. R.I.P. Chester
Papa Roach's debut is one of the best albums of all time. Seriously underrated band.
Disagree. I seen them 2-3 times when they first started out touring with other bands. Didn’t like them then and still don’t like them now.
RIP Chester 😢 loved his music ❤ was one of the gems.Legend ❤❤
I'll be totally honest... At first I refused to listen to it because I said how are they going to try to replace Chester... But one day I gave in and listened to this song... And that was my and most people's problem... Thinking of Emily as Chester's replacement... She is not a replacement she is part of the new chapter... And honestly I am here for the new chapter because she is great... She is the perfect person to bring out the new chapter of LP
Took the words right out of my mouth.. the new songs are actually dope..but man I wish I can hear Chester sing those songs 😢
Thank you for this Interview.Jacoby has a Heart of Gold.my Respekt for Jacoby.Chester will always live in our Heart❤🙏🍀
I bought new cd Meteora, and when I drive hearing Meteora,im alive again hearing Chester voice.❤
That new song was fire. I think it holds up to the name of the band very well🤘🏼
Chester will always be here and we'll never forget him and his incredible energy and voice. RIP. The new singer will never replaces him but Linkin Park is moving on.
Who would think someone called with a band called Roach could seem such a good guy.
I was able to meet, speak with Jacoby at Rupp arena in Lexington KY. Totally cool, down to earth guy. Hella singer, great concert energy.
That’s amazing! I’ve loved him and PR ever since they came out when I was in high school. Jacoby is such a standup guy who puts the same passion into his music as Chester did. It would be such a dream of mine to meet him!
@@forest_maiden Jacoby is well spoken, very cool. He was thrilled that Rupp Arena had chief's tables full of roast, vegetarian, a huge spread of healthy food. Lol. He had me bring plates to Tour bus for after show, for ride to Cincinnati. Falling in Reverse was cool group of guys also. PR hit the stage with Kill the Noise 1st song.💪💪
Feels bitter sweet.
Emily, Colin is great. New era of LP is great. Linkin Park have special place in my heart.
she sucks rofl
@jacoby I'll leave a light on for you, amazing
I’m sorry but even though I miss Chester, the band getting back together is a chance for them to bring everyone together. We aren’t getting mad at journey, stone temple pilots, prodigy (which toured with LP), we aren’t getting mad at them. Why is everyone taking it out on LP?
Cuz too many people have entitlement issues with music
They'll get over it
She's a scientologist. She also doesn't believe in mental health support, you know the very thing Chester needed.
The new Stone Temple Pilots are fantastic!
Sellouts milking Chester death , should of changed the name, like foo fighters! it’s not even the same band anymore , it doesn’t anything like it did!
I grew up in their rising and to this day they both are iconic!!! Keep it coming for us
during the first live event they did, when Mike introduced the band he said something to the effect of "and in the voice of Chester Bennington - is all of you" I'm not gonna lie, I got all misty eyed. Emily isn't Chester, but she is Linkin Park.
I saw the Ozzfest day off tour with proach and linkin park. It was incredible.
This dude is real, love him. So true what he says fuck man Chester should have sing that. Chester we miss you ❤
Ever think of how hard it is for Emily? How much pressure she's under? How she's trying to live up to a fanbase that might never accept her. I loved Chester but I love the rest of lp too and they deserve to continue doing what they love.
So hard human trafficking
I will always remember Chester and listen to his songs unfortunately I can't accept new singer

Hearing her sing a Linkin Park song was the closure I needed. RIP Chester.
As a long time fan I can't say the same unfortunately, as it was just not it man... I get the message but this is just not it.

The singer is actually Trash as I have heard her clearly for how she is when she sings, it's a technical thing I have personally with it if you don't see it or hear it basically beyond tastes but anyways yeah, I don't never stopped listening to Linkin Park before or after the terrible tragedy that happened to Chester, give or take things were not the same for awhile but I will never stop listening to them now, the old band's music of course.

That is what I like about Jacoby. He keeps it honest
Jacoby is just one of us.
LP spent an appropriate & respectful amount of time to grieve, recover, & recoup. They handled it with class; glad to have em back.
R.i.P. Linkin Park.
Real Linkin Park
I saw both LP and PR tour together in Portland Maine waaaay back in the day! Still love both!
I don't want to sound like the bad guy but Chester decided to do what he did! Why does the band have to stop doing what they love because he made a decision?
❤️ Linkin Park! Keep releasing amazing music for us all ❤️
Last resort was an anthem when it came out and we were always bumping it.
I miss Chester so much and it still hurts I know for a fact we will all meet and get to chat in heaven 😊 we miss u so much
I understand what he's trying to say, i use to feel the same way when i first listen to their new song, its not emily the problem she's great, is the fact that it hurt's to listen to linking park expecting to hear chester voice and realizing that he's gone.
@@forest_maiden I understand you ,I feel same . I just stopped listening them altogether .
