Too much unnecessary comparison to his father in the comments. This work stands on its own. Breathtaking, elegant, and obviously innovative in its own way. Simply a beautiful composition.
Wonderful to hear Franz Xaver Mozart’s compositions. I’ve always wondered what his compositions would sound like. Living in his Father’s shadow must have been very difficult, but he was known as a very accomplished pianist and I think that his compositions should be kept in the classical repertoires and played at concerts. A fantastic find for me.
Now this is fascinating... for ages I've been trying to find videos of Mozart's children's works.. Very much like his father's music, just a tad more exhubrient.
Not too bad, I can imagine it put a lot of pressure on Franz Xaver to be 'the son of', and probably they wanted him to sound his music like his father's as well, but it has its own peculiarities which is quite interesting, also considering the fact that it was another era. Thanks for sharing.
Wahrlich faszinierend!
The poor FX Mozart... always compared to his father, threatened by his no-nonsense mother to walk perfectly in Wolferl’s footsteps. Nevertheless, he produced a very likable output, as heard here.
Franz tragedy is that his father is so incredibly famous. But we all compare ourselves to our fathers. In best and worst case scenarios the world will.
It is VERY hard to be the successor of a giant artist parent - be it musician, actor, writer or composer. FX stood up to his challenge! My first impression of him was "an early romantic in classical chain" - but he is more than that.
But - just to make some gossip - was it confirmed that W.A. Mozart was his father? There's a theory according to which Franz Xaver's father had the same name and completed W.A. Mozart's Requiem... :-) Ok, just gossip nothing to do with the music
@@bartjebartmans Apologies. I did look at SHOW MORE but missed the credit. Obviously it is unfair to compare with his father . . . he certainly learned a lot from Wolfgang's piano concertos, but this concerto is so much in the Mozartian model that it's really hard to detect an individual voice. But (as someone said) it's a very likeable piece. Klaus Hellwig's cadenzas are EXCELLENT
Only ONE kiddy succeeded dad: Frantz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart. His older brother, Karl Thomas tried his hand at music, but it didn´t work out, so he became a book-keeper. The other 4 died as babies.. Vienna had a shocking child mortality rate.
Because only one of Mozarts two surviving kiddies, Franz Xaver made it as a composer. His brother tried music, but ended up choosing another field - as a book-keeper.
Yes, charming, with touches of his father's style. A bit prolix in the working out (remember the line from Amadeus "too many notes"!?), but the slow movement and finale are gems. Much better than his 2nd attempt; I have always had a soft spot for this concerto. Thanks...
This really is not a bad work, still I can see why he more or less stopped composing quite early. it must have been quite hopeless to realize how much better his fathers work in the same vein are and still try to achieve something similar.
Gorgeous! So free. A good thirty years ahead of its time, too. Honestly, his epitaph should have been about him, not his father (not least because that is, well, the point of an epitaph, especially for someone this accomplished). Had I been there to say anything about that, I would have just said, "Excuse me, I need to go choke a b****."
The second movement is charming! Mistery, the echoes of the Adagio from k 488 but in a balance between classicism and romanticism. A bit weak the development in which his father Wolfgang and his friend Haydn were impassable
"There is evidence that Marianne wrote musical compositions, as there are letters from Wolfgang praising her work, but the voluminous correspondence of her father never mentions any of her compositions, and none have survived" Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Anna_Mozart
If I were Mozart senior, after hearing Mozart junior writing something like this, I would definitely say something like this: “Son, from the works you did, I am sure you are extremely talented. You definitely inherited the music genius from me and I’m glad that you pursued the path I did. But please remember this: You are an individual and you have your own personality. You have your own experience of life and, thus, you have your own style of music. Please don’t copy mine. No matter what others are saying, just ignore them. You don’t need to be me. Be yourself and write your own style of music.” Poor FX Mozart, please just be yourself.
I wonder how Franz Xaver modeled his compositions after, because while this sound a tad bit like his father it’s also very different, it’s quite technical with the scales and arpeggios, a little czerny like, what do you think?
Nein leider nicht. Mozart hatte sechs Kinder.
Is it me or what??? as good as it is when u duplicate or dub a recording there always a loss in quality. Make no mistake it’s beautiful but and sounds very much like his father but without some of those catchy Melodie’s and passionate passages that u hear in Mozart composition. I guess I expected a higher rendition of Mozart where the genius is recognize quickly. Again no disrespect, fantastic music and talent that is amazing. I can’t imagine having this talent but definitely short when compared to his father. I guess Mozart was truly the top of his class forever! Lol
Even though F. X. Mozart’s Piano Concerto In C Major carries his famous father’s influence, there is originality throughout, e.g., FX composed this work for an 88-key equal-temperament-tuned piano.
Franz Xaver Mozart is criminally underrated... I hope he receives the value he deserves in the future
As long as every coming pianist wants to record his Paasionata, his Beethoven 5, his Rach 3... that wilm not happen
Wonderful. Of course you can't compare him to his legendary father. But no one can surpass Wolfgang Mozart in my opinion.
Unmistakably Wolfgang's son. Beautiful.
4:30 - 5:30 is ABSOLUTELY his father coming through... So incredible.
More like Salieri who was his teacher.
man, I wish i could give Franz Xaver a pep talk, You are NOT YOUR FATHER! YOU DONT HAVE TO BE! HE LOVES YOU! JUST BE YOU!
Too much unnecessary comparison to his father in the comments. This work stands on its own. Breathtaking, elegant, and obviously innovative in its own way. Simply a beautiful composition.

It must have been even more difficult having never known his father.
Smiled at that cute part around 3:05 . Fun little piece.
I love this wonderful music, like father, like son! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Charming piece with traces of his father’s melodic touch in some places.
Now this is fascinating... for ages I've been trying to find videos of Mozart's children's works..
Very much like his father's music, just a tad more exhubrient.
I think the opposite: it seems more considered and introverted than W. A. Mozart's concertos.
He had his Father's style.
Happy Father's Day.
More Salieris style because he was his teacher
Salieri taught him but his Father's style was already in his blood.
Nah, sounds like Salieri's music to me
Not too bad, I can imagine it put a lot of pressure on Franz Xaver to be 'the son of', and probably they wanted him to sound his music like his father's as well, but it has its own peculiarities which is quite interesting, also considering the fact that it was another era. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for including the written music with the audio!
Herrliche Musik ❤

Written the same year as Beethoven's 5th symphony, to put things into perspective
Interesting, how advanced was Beethoven works !!!
He was 17 and Beethoven was 38..

Some of his father’s ideas being recycled here. The syncopated quarters from the G minor symphony scratches the surface a bit.
I guess you could say he worked to improve his "sound FX"! hahahahaha
F.X. Mozart is honestly great in his own right, I don't think he should be compared to his father W.A. Mozart at all
This was brilliant…His father would approve!
The uncredited pianist in this recording is my old friend Klaus Hellwig who is a wonderful human bean. Pity the concerto is so derivative
Click on the tab "show more" and you will see the credits. You might want to check your spelling as well.

is it a sin that I like the second movement of this concerto more than anything from any of Wolfgang’s concerti?
Yes.
No
Yes
excellent composition, same like his father.
Rolf
I would never touch the keyboard or compose music if my father was the most, most,... most brilliant musician of all times 😒
Nice piece, surprised we don't hear more of the kiddies!

That adagio is gorgeous, yes?!
oh yes don,t know this work but sure does impress
The slow m'vt stands on its own. I think he's more like Haydn than dad.

I feel like this is the direction WA Mozart was headed, had he lived to old age,

Really? This is more reminiscent to me of the senior Wolfgang Mozart.

Clearly F.X. Mozart did not inherit the perfection and balance from his father. But his compositions are still as amazing!
It is also believed that he may not have actually been his son but rather Frans Xavier Sussmayr's.
@@edeliteedelite1961 No, the son inherited the same ear deformity that his father had, so it is impossible.
his daddy sure influenced his music style a lot

Muito bem parecido com o pai.
Sorpredente.
franz xaver war seines vaters würdig.
Fabulous! I wonder if the Mozart family line continues still?
No, unfortunately both of Mozart's sons who survived childhood died childless.

Does anyone know who wrote the cadenzas?
Pleasant music to the ears... But
Eh!
18:49 Eroica?
the second movement is not like his father,
I hear Salieri
The performance is unfortunately very pedestrian. Makes the work sound weaker than it is.
Let me know if you know a better performance.
1.25 fixes the problem
Too many notes
Mmmh... sounds like a poor copy of his father's work. No hint of personality of his own.
Well, he was only 16 or 17 years old when he wrote this concerto...
