  • This is a photo/video journal of the build of my brother's chevy s10. The build is our first attempt at a project of this caliber. We did this build in October 2011 in northern Colorado. The pictures and video were taken on an IPhone 3GS. Editing was done with Splice application on said phone. The truck is still under construction. It is totally drivable, but a step notch will be installed spring 2012.

i have one question on the front end where your RIDETECH shocks you put in behind the bags&wheels, Slanting back towards the bed. Are those ridetech brackets you used to mount the shocks? if you can get back to me asap I have some ridetech shock mount brackets. I havnt installed them yet, so im running only bags in frnt. Its a rough ride. I got them from a abuddy with no instructions or anything i wld apreciate some feed back and how you did it

I drilled a hole in the lower swing arm to mount the bottom of the shock to. Double check clearance at full lock to make sure the lower shock bolt doesn't hit tire or rim. From there it was just lining the holes in the bracket with the holes in the frame. Let me know if I can help anymore, and sorry for the delayed reply.

No C notch exactly what I've been looking for because I am using a 13 inch spoke no need for it truck will be plenty low enough because of a small rims.. Nice video just wish it was a little more in depth… did you cut the rubber stoppers? How does it ride ? I would imagine when you're all the way down pretty rough but if you bump it up an inch or so probably not too bad right?… I just got everything to bag my S 10 and got on TH-cam thinking I was going to find plenty of videos and I can't find anything except for this one without a c notch ...and from what I can tell it looks like the bag install is different when you notch ... compared to a install with no notch

But I'm not positive is it different

freestyle374 Thanks! We completely cut the rear bump stop brackets off the frame. If you drive it with too little air in the rear, it does bottom out and ride rough. But, like you said, an inch or two above the axle and it rides surprisingly well. Since bagging it, the truck has made several trips from Northern Colorado to Southeastern Iowa without any trouble. It rides very smooth down the highway. Still tucks tire while driving and looks great. My brother had actually bought (and still has) a set of weld in C notches. But he decided against installing them because of the need to tunnel the bed. He has had to replace the viair pump every year or two, but that has kind of become a maintenance item.

freestyle374 I was not aware of any difference in bag install when comparing a notched truck vs. one without a notch. The only thing we were going to change with the notch install was the gas tank and tunnel the bed.

another reason why I'm staying away from the c-notch is so I don't have to tear up my bed and I can still put my motorcycle in the back ..you did not have to move the gas tank right?... I need to call the manufacturer because I got for bars but I see everybody else has a V bar and two straight bars I don't know what's up that maybe it's just a different way of doing it .. I really want to Tear into this this and get it going ..I had somebody that knows how to do it that was going to help me and I can I get a hold of him ..completely in the blind now without his help .. I guess I should just start tearing into it .. just trying to get as much knowledge as possible before I do
