hi.. Given that I have been approve for stamping my passport with this visa today, when will the 1 year count start? will it start upon stamping or upon arriving in Germany?
Great video! It took 5 months for me to get recognition for my Brazilian University certificates last year. It includes the time it took to send documents through mail from Brazil to Germany and the extra documents they asked in the process, which luckily they accepted through email. My tip is, if you want to come to Germany, start this recognition process as soon as possible, because 1 month after I received my recognition I applied for a job in Germany and actually got it, and to have the certificates ready was a huge time saver and made visa process easier.

@aliscode2386 I applied for a researcher position in an University. I did not apply with German language certificate simply because it was not required for the position and also because Brazil and Germany apparently have an agreement that citizens do not need to learn the language to get a work visa. I highly recommend to learn at least B1 German to live in the country, as not everyone is willing to speak English, especially in government departments depending where you live.

1. Depends on your German mission 2. Letters of recommendation or similar 3. Private/Expat for the visa and while you are looking for a job - change to public or private once you have a full time job.

You can find links to the governmental recognition website and Anabin database in the description of the video to check whether your qualifications need recognition or are comparable. Usually your higher degree matters. Letters from the companies should be fine, but only your local German mission can tell you exactly what you need to provide.

The problem is not that you can get a permit or license to work in Germany; the problem is finding an apartment, especially if you’re moving there with children. If you’re single or a couple with only a dog, then you’re going to have an easier time finding a place inside city limits and very enjoyable time moving to Germany. Otherwise, it will be extremely hard.

Thanks! 😊 You 'exchange' it by applying for a work permit with your local Ausländerbehörde once in Germany. To our research and knowledge, your university degree must only correlate with your job for a Blue Card. But for a general work permit it doesn’t have to. Jen’s degree never correlated to her role and she also never had a blue card.
Great video. But I still thing that those requirements are really hard to accomplish. I mean have a Blue card, but I'm thinking more in the real need of Germany for new workers, and the little flexibility in their bureaucracy and their culture to adapt themselves to immigrants.
Based on my experience, if you don't have the mentioned financial means for each visa and a certificate of language proficiency (even though you can speak at the level of B2), you cannot migrate.That's why millions of people immigrate ille/ally every year, and when they reach any European countries, the government exempt them from paying for anything but you, the legal migrant, should pay thousands of Euros for every simple tasks you need to be done. For example, I don't have Euro12,000 to be deposited for this visa, and although I speak English fluently (for a country like Germany that no one will respond to you in English), I don't have Ilets or Toefel certificate, each of those certificates needs at least $250 to be paid and it takes at least three months to be completed.

Not sure if you guys will know the answer: If you are applying as a citizen of a country for which English is the official language (the U.S., in my case), do you still need to provide a language level certificate to obtain the points for English fluency, or will that automatically be granted based on your nationality? Your video is still the best I have seen on Chancenkarte. Though, still am not clear after reading all comments and videos that 1) If my uni and degree is in Anabin database, then I am fully recognised. Right? 2) If my degree or uni is not in Anabin, and I get it recognized from Zab and gets the right equivalency i.e positive report, then I am also fully recognised. Right?
We will do an extra video on the whole riddle of Anabin and recognition in the future. To answer your question briefly: 1) both your exact degree AND university need to be listed in Anabin. 2) as far as we understand yes, as along as your profession is not regulated in Germany.

just curious about jen’s use of her life as example for why she can’t apply! couldn’t you qualify just because you have a university degree alone? even without matching work experience? (just as long as it’s at least partially recognized in germany and if you meet age and language and financial requirements as well) i thought the vocational training is just another option for the “professional qualification” if you don’t have a university degree!
In your example it's correct. In our example we wanted to make the point in the case that Jen's degree is not recognized. Since she doesn't have work experience in the field of her degree, she wouldn't qualify.
Thanks so much for the video! I haven't been able to find some details on the Chancenkarte so I was wondering whether you've come across it: 1. Regarding the proof of funds, would a Verpflichtungserklärung also be an option? As far as I understand, this is currently an option for the Job Seeker's visa. 2. Since you can only apply for this from June onwards, do you know if it would be possible to apply for a Job Seeker visa first and then apply/change it to a Chancenkarte? The timeline seems a bit risky and it's not clear yet how long the process might take since it's a new thing, so someone who is already in Germany for 90 days might run out of time. 3. For a bachelor's degree (in the IT field) that is showing as H+ on the Anabin database and the language is in English, the only thing needed is a screenshot of that and no other lengthy recognition process?

In the video there is no information about what Fully Qualified Degree means. But in the simple germany website it is mentioned that if you get diploma comparability certificate from the ZAB (or maybe other organization) you degree counts as fully recognized, did understood it correctly?

Through Statement of Comparability at Zab, my degree in US is equivalent to German degree. Also, I can see my Uni is H+. However, based on ZAB, It is not a professional recognition and therefore does not entitle its holder - especially with regard to German recognition authorities - to receive a formal equivalency. Could you explain what does fully recognition and partial recognition mean? Every website is not showing clear explanation about this. Thank you for your video :)
Planing on doing a video on that, however the ZAB and Anabin listing should be enough. The formal equivalence is only needed for regulated professions.

1. We believe so - yes! 2. Your local German mission will need to decide. But we would say a letter of recommendation stating the time span you worked etc should be accepted.

Hi Jen and Yvonne, new questions popped up in my mind. When applying for a visa I guess we need to provide the town/city name that we will be while looking for a job. AFAIK embassy then sends visa application documents to the foreign office of that city. My question is, if one finds a job outside of that city or even outside of that state will it be approved? There might be some kind of restrictions regarding finding a job in a different state.

My friend, who is a software developer, came in September with this visa. He is applying for jobs, but many of the workplaces rejected his application. In their rejection letter they say that he is not allowed to work in germany. Seems like most of the companies are not aware of this visa.

All the information was clear I just need to ask you for the language requirements A1 for German or B2 for English. But for scoring they gave scores for C1 and above. Secondly, my wife is also graduated and degree fully recognized and don't have any work experience as well as Language. Can I apply with spouse.
Can you clarify where it mentions that the university degree we have, has to match the work we are seeking as a base requirement? I spoke with an immigration attorney about the blue card and chancenkarte and he said that as long as I have the recognized 4 year degree and work in a field that requires a 4 year degree, they don’t have to match. You do! We noticed afterwards that we didn't make that clear enough. You still need to fullfill the financial and basic language requirements. You just don't need to collect further points.

If the degree is recognised by the German government so we are directly eligible for the chansenkarte. Thanks! 😊 You 'exchange' it by applying for a work permit with your local Ausländerbehörde once in Germany. To our research and knowledge, your university degree must only correlate with your job for a Blue Card. But for a general work permit it doesn’t have to. Jen’s degree never correlated to her role and she also never had a blue card.

Great video. But I still thing that those requirements are really hard to accomplish. I mean have a Blue card, but I'm thinking more in the real need of Germany for new workers, and the little flexibility in their bureaucracy and their culture to adapt themselves to immigrants.

Based on my experience, if you don't have the mentioned financial means for each visa and a certificate of language proficiency (even though you can speak at the level of B2), you cannot migrate.That's why millions of people immigrate ille/ally every year, and when they reach any European countries, the government exempt them from paying for anything but you, the legal migrant, should pay thousands of Euros for every simple tasks you need to be done. For example, I don't have Euro12,000 to be deposited for this visa, and although I speak English fluently (for a country like Germany that no one will respond to you in English), I don't have Ilets or Toefel certificate, each of those certificates needs at least $250 to be paid and it takes at least three months to be completed.

Yes! I was also on a job seeker's visa and was told I could work a mini-job.
Interesting. The resources say you can only work those 10 hours as part of a trial period for a full-time employment.

Though, still am not clear after reading all comments and videos that
1) If my uni and degree is in Anabin database, then I am fully recognised. Right?
2) If my degree or uni is not in Anabin, and I get it recognized from Zab and gets the right equivalency i.e positive report, then I am also fully recognised. Right?
We will do an extra video on the whole riddle of Anabin and recognition in the future. To answer your question briefly: 1) both your exact degree AND university need to be listed in Anabin. 2) as far as we understand yes, as along as your profession is not regulated in Germany.

(just as long as it’s at least partially recognized in germany and if you meet age and language and financial requirements as well) i thought the vocational training is just another option for the “professional qualification” if you don’t have a university degree!
In your example it's correct. In our example we wanted to make the point in the case that Jen's degree is not recognized. Since she doesn't have work experience in the field of her degree, she wouldn't qualify.

1. Regarding the proof of funds, would a Verpflichtungserklärung also be an option? As far as I understand, this is currently an option for the Job Seeker's visa.
2. Since you can only apply for this from June onwards, do you know if it would be possible to apply for a Job Seeker visa first and then apply/change it to a Chancenkarte? The timeline seems a bit risky and it's not clear yet how long the process might take since it's a new thing, so someone who is already in Germany for 90 days might run out of time.
3. For a bachelor's degree (in the IT field) that is showing as H+ on the Anabin database and the language is in English, the only thing needed is a screenshot of that and no other lengthy recognition process?

In the video there is no information about what Fully Qualified Degree means. But in the simple germany website it is mentioned that if you get diploma comparability certificate from the ZAB (or maybe other organization) you degree counts as fully recognized, did understood it correctly?

Through Statement of Comparability at Zab, my degree in US is equivalent to German degree. Also, I can see my Uni is H+. However, based on ZAB, It is not a professional recognition and therefore does not entitle its holder - especially with regard to German recognition authorities - to receive a formal equivalency. Could you explain what does fully recognition and partial recognition mean? Every website is not showing clear explanation about this. Thank you for your video :)

1. We believe so - yes!
2. Your local German mission will need to decide. But we would say a letter of recommendation stating the time span you worked etc should be accepted.

new questions popped up in my mind. When applying for a visa I guess we need to provide the town/city name that we will be while looking for a job. AFAIK embassy then sends visa application documents to the foreign office of that city.
My question is, if one finds a job outside of that city or even outside of that state will it be approved? There might be some kind of restrictions regarding finding a job in a different state.
A general work visa for Germany is not restricted to a city but valid in all of Germany.

Hallo, what if I have work experience in a different field unrelated to my education? I graduated in English Linguistics and I have working experience in the Hotel industry. Do I still need a level B English certificate?
My friend, who is a software developer, came in September with this visa.
He is applying for jobs, but many of the workplaces rejected his application. In their rejection letter they say that he is not allowed to work in germany. Seems like most of the companies are not aware of this visa.

Yes, you are correct. Even with full recognition of your degree you need to fulfill the 3 basic requirements, as far as our research shows.
Thanks for the detailed info. I have 1 question though. If I am applying with my spouse , who of course qualifies for it, we have a 2 year old son, do we need to show blocked statement for him too ? or 2 blocked account are enough to support our application?
All the information was clear I just need to ask you for the language requirements A1 for German or B2 for English. But for scoring they gave scores for C1 and above. Secondly, my wife is also graduated and degree fully recognized and don't have any work experience as well as Language. Can I apply with spouse.

I spoke with an immigration attorney about the blue card and chancenkarte and he said that as long as I have the recognized 4 year degree and work in a field that requires a 4 year degree, they don’t have to match. You can wait 6 months and reapply for job search visa. I had one and found a job in Germany and now i coach people occasionally to so the same (within the same program that brought me to germany)

Hiring won't be easier per se. But a lot of companies prefer hiring people who are already in Germany compared to still living abroad.

You do! We noticed afterwards that we didn't make that clear enough. You still need to fullfill the financial and basic language requirements. You just don't need to collect further points.

Just realised one thing that you have mentioned in the video might be controversial. If the degree is recognised by the German government so we are directly eligible for the chansenkarte. However, when you compare opportunity card and jobseeker visa at the end of the video, you have mentioned that we need minimum of 2years experience. Just wanted to double check if that’s the case or am I missing something?
The 2 years work experience apply if your degree is not fully recognized.
