You helped fix months of frustration with this video. For the longest, I could not figure out for anything how to get the audio to be the same on both sides. Turns out it was way easier than I thought. Thank you.
I am about to hit my first month on TH-cam. I couldn't quite figure out why my sound wasn't good. This video is more helpful than you know. My audio quality is about to literally be 2X better! because I'm not just playing one side lol. Appreciate you.
I learned on the Rode website that if you press and hold both bottom buttons on the receiver that it'll toggle between split and merged. If it shows 2 channel volume bars then you're in split, if it's a single volume bar then it's merged.
This was driving me insane, because I'd been recording in split mode and was listening back with only one headphone in, and I couldn't figure out why it was - sometimes - completely mute. You're right that (at least for me) this was the most important setting to consider. Thanks!
hahahaha it happened to me also once I had these earbuds, but only one, and couldn't undesrstand why I saw the waveform and couldn't listen. Now you got it and will always choose the right one for what you need :D Thanks for watching !!

I do appreciate your video and amazingly explained. and when you said you need to cry, I really was crying that now I cannot split the sounds. hahahah. but this video is going to save me for future vlogging. thanks man. I do apprectiate it. love from DUBAI
What I learned and will apply for myself: Use two lavs on split mode for better coverage and faster work flow. Use a single lab on safety for easy clean up. Thx for these tips!
Excellent explanation ! I will watch all of your videos now about this mic. I just got it and already messed on one of the video just because I did not use it correctly
@@FlyEnri thank you for great videos!I watched the other one and now I think I know the most about it. I also bought the Boya BY M1 Pro II to see if that will work with gopro as well.
This is quality stuff. I was deciding on if I should buy these Mics, saw a negative review with this listed as a reason, and found this video. Super helpful and now I know what to expect on the editing side if I purchase. Earned a sub.
Hey Andre, thanks a lot for the feedback! Yeah, it's not that intuitive if you never used a dual mic before, so I imagined it could be a helpful video !! Let me know if you have any other doubts that i could address here!
Thanks for this video. It's the only one i found which explain perfectly how it works. I had issues on Premiere for work on both tracks, now i know how to get them both and why i should stay on splitted channels. Thank you !
Superb video. Just bought the GO II, and it would have taken me ages to figure out these different ways of handling recording the sound, and then dealing with split audio in my premier APP. This covers it all. Excellent video.
Hello. Thanks so much for this video. Sometimes I conduct interviews in noisy environments and I’ve either experienced one speakers audio was too low but the audio was merged or I had frequency squeaky issues occur. So I’m guessing I may have needed to have the receivers in split mode and turn up the gain. What do you think? I need to know the best setting I should have in this scenarios. Many thanks
Hi !! Yeah, for the volume difference recording in Split will save you, so you can control the volumes separately ! The frequency issues if it happens with only one TX and it's not the one you need at that moment, the split will solve. Otherwise the best solution is to get the recording from the internal memory on the TX. The gain I always leave in low or medium, turning up too much generates too much noise.
I am using one mic, in merged mode. However, when I play the video it only comes out from one speaker. I want the sound to come from both speakers in stereo sound. Can you help please.
Hey man, awesome video. Nice that you're responding to comments too! I've recorded clips in split mode onto a Canon M50. I can see the different levels of waveforms in the L/R channel so I think it's correctly recorded them split, but when I separate out and mute one channel, I still get audio (although at a lower volume) from the muted receiver? I know that it's not just echo because it's distortion and wind noise which is coming through. Really weird, have you ever seen this issue?
Okay on the off chance someone finds this and has the same issue.. This is caused by my camera not having a true stereo input. The canon m50 which I'm using down mixes the L/R channels so you're effectively forced into merged mode.
@@FlyEnri for anyone else reading this the workaround is to just enable the on board recording. Requires syncing in post but still usable if you don't want to have to invest in a new camera!
I'd use merged with the Safety Channel on ! Like this you have the audio on one channel, and the safety on the other. Later in editing you can choose which to use. If you're streaming or if there's no editing, then just merged !
When using two lav mics (Rode Wireless pro) for a vlog (two people) I record in split mode. However, when I listen to the audio later, I hear (like you showed in your video) an echo from the voice in the opposite mic. You showed that in Davinci you can mute the person that is not speaking to get rid of the echo. However, in my case both people often speak at the same time and interrupt each other so muting one is not an option. Can I record the two mics in merge mode instead of split? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
Hi ! Yeah, it's difficult when it's like this, you can record in merge, the issue is that if one persone talks way louder than the other you can't fix it anymore. Also if you're using different lav mics and they have different volumes it's also impossible to fix. Is the echo really bad ?
Just writing to sincerely thank you for this fantastic explanation. I was so close to packing everything up and returning the whole setup because they have no proper instructions in their manual. I wish you could do a quick tutorial on how to pick a headset to listen in real time while recording an interview between 2 people.
Hi, thanks a lot for the comment, it made my day ! Sure, you mean how to choose one ? I use the Sony WH1000-3 with the cable connected to the camera to monitor the audio, but sincerely you could do it with a cheap pair also, if it's meant just to be sure it doesn't have any noise and the levels are ok.
@@FlyEnri So I'm using an iPad Pro to film an interview I am conducting with my guest. Starting with the iPad, the connections go like this: iPad > Rode AI Micro > WirelessGo2. The center of the AI accepts a 3.5mm headphone cable but I don't want to be seen on camera with a wire running from my ear all the way back to the iPad. So I went for a device called AirFly where a dongle goes in that center hole & airpods go into my ear. It works. But if the guest, for example, is saying "jack went up the hill..." by the time he says "hill" my ear is hearing "went". The delay is distracting, especially when I speak too. Is there any device that can connect to my setup that gives me the guest's voice in real time without delay ?
Well Done! Question, I only have 1 transmitter, assuming that I should have it to merge setting. I recorded today and the video had the voice on the left and background music on the right (assuming that means that I had it accidentially set to split. (it wasn't connecting so I hit some button and must as switched it. ). Thanks in advance.
It can be set to split or it's still in merged, but on the right you got the safety channel! Either way yo can check on the Rode Central app !

Excellent video! Unfortunately, my Insta360 One X2 camera only records in merged mode with the Rode GO II. However, a SINGLE track is generated, with the two audios mixed. In other words, when there is a voice that I don't want, that I would like to eliminate, I am forced to retrieve the recording on the transmitter where the speech I want is and make the replacement in that part (with the extra work of synchronization). Would there be another better way? Congratulations on the channel.
I just checked and Insta360 says that it's really only mono recording, meaning you're right, only Merged will work unfortunately... In your case I'd suggest you to always import the files from the TX, synch and create a compound clip. Whenever you want to eliminate one audio, you go inside and cut. Just to keep things clean in your timeline, and maybe this will be faster than chopping up the whole audio, and then suddenly needing to get a piece from the tx here and there.... But yeah, not a greaaaat solution. Or use an external recorder, like a Zoom H1N, small and easy.

Obrigado,@@FlyEnri. Se não me engano você é brasileiro. Achei que cairia bem um agradecimento em nossa língua. SIm, a idéia é ótima (embora eu deteste sincronizar! hehehe). Abraços e sucesso (ainda mais) no canal.
@@FlyEnri Does this work if you're recording 2 mics in split mode, but then you want in the same cut, to just have one person. Because that one person will be on one side, and you want it to appear on both while the other person isn't there... Does that make sense?
Maybe you covered this, but I'm relatively new to working with interview audio instead of VO/music. I recorded interviews with the 2 mics in split mode, but I can't get rid of the echo happening from each voice in the opposite mic. Is there a way to "combine" the split audio (which I've converted to stereo) so there's no more echo? I'm lost!
Hi Ren! Yeah, it's a big issue this ! So ideally you have to try to eliminate it as much as possible when recording. Having mics that don't pick up audio from too far away, having them well positioned close to each person's mouth, etc. This way the echo will be almost unnoticeable. If still you got it, you can use a function called Noise Gate, present in many video editors or audio editors. It will eliminate any noise below a certain level. So it will understand when it's your speaker talking, and leave it, and when it's the other person far away, and eliminate that. It's not perfect, as you can't put it too high and risk having something the current person said a bit lower, but it's what's possible. Hope that helps !
@@FlyEnri I have this exact same problem, post production. I am doing the 2 x audio files merge in Alitu (podcast hosting site with basic editing capabilities), but both voices are echoing. Another program option I have is Audacity. Can you suggest how to eliminate the echo within that? Thanks!
Would you recommend merged for live-streaming? We 4 people sitting around a table & have 4 mics panned left/right from the 2 receivers & set to mono in OBS and we get a lot of echo which I think is the mics picking up everyone speaking. Haven’t tried merges but thinking that could help
Hi dear ! Yeah, i think probably it's best to use merged. But definitely you'd be better off with microphones that aren't omnidirectional, meaning those that pick up only what's in front, and not from the sides. I've tested one in the channel that was incredibly cheap and efficient on this, maybe it would be a better option for a podcast like setup than the Rodes !
Amazing Video thank you! I have one more question - I was recording some Interviews just with one transmitter and now I notice the problem that the whole audio is heard just on the left earphone. Is there any possibility to change it after the content was recorded? From now on I will just record in merged mode if I use one transmitter but I did a lot of content on this specific recording day so it would be amazing if you could tell me if there is any possibility to change the mode after it was already recorded. Thank you!
Hi ! Yeah, it's perfectly possible ! Depends on which editing software you're using but all of them have some sort of audio effect which copies the left channel onto the right channel. Or you can change the sound track to Mono and it will also be heard on both sides. Try to google these ideas according to which editing software you're using and let me know if it works !
I'm doing it on Capcut you were right it is quite easy haha but without your Answer I don't know if I would have found it this fast. Thank you bro you helped me a lot! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much, this is very helpful. I was very confused when recording split mode how the voice comes out from one side left or right ! I always use the merge option, it's easier to edit.
Thanks a lot for watching Shadi!! It can be a bit confusing, but only because it's so powerful and gives us many options! Check now if maybe Split can be better for you in some cases!

Oh yeah !! I'm glad it worked out ! I'm always a bit in doubt about showing different editing softwares, people usually skip the one they don't use and messes up with the video. Thanks a lot for the feedback and congratulations for your sister !
Hi Sylvia ! What exactly do you need ? To hear the audio from both sides ? If you are using Merged, it should already be like that, if it's Merged but you only hear it on one side, you might have the Safety Channel On. All these are on the Rode Central. Deactivate it and it will be ok! Or, if you already have things recorded like that, you need an effect called Copy Left to Right or Copy Right to Left, depending on each side you're hearing. It will make the same sound go over to the other channel.
Which modus do i use, when i record only 1 micro? split or merged? and its possible to record with 2 micrs on direct video? also not extra audio and video but record vid with audio...
Hi ! The audio is always recorded in the camera together with the video, so no worries there. If you're recording with only one mic you can choose Merge or Split. Merged is a simple way of having the audio ready to use. Split will record on two channels, left and right, different volumes of the audio. It will record a normal on the left and a -20dB on the right. This way if at some point you have a very loud noise you can save it. But you'll need to edit this audio quickly on any video editing software to have it sound on both left and right channels. It's easy, but one more step.
Hi, great tutorial! Thank You! I need Your help with rode configuration split/mere or other solution. I am recording workshops. I have 3 presenters and audience. Using two sets of rode go ii. first receiver connected to yolobox pro directly (to line or mic input-i can not find the difference between those inputs). Second receiver connected to Yolobox with HDMI via Canon M50 mark II (mic input of Canon). Than I have 3 transmitters - each for 1 presenter (clipped) and one transmitter mounted to rode interview - to record questions asked from audience. When I am recording tests, I experience echoes and voice from this rode mounted as reporter is much more lower....My question is which setup should I use to have the best possible voice recording effect (with no echo and similar voice levels from those four transmitters)-thank You in advance for Your assistance!
Hi !! Hmmm so I'm imagining the second set of Rodes got one tx with one of the presenters and 1 on the reporter right ? So if the tx with the presenter is ok, it means the issue is on the levels on the reporter app, or the microphone you're using there is lowering the audio way more than the other lav mics or whatever you're using. I'd say to make a simpler test with the only tx that is different. Connect it directly to camera, without the yolobox and the reporter app. Check both tx's are good. Then put the yolo. Check. Then connect it with the reporter app, and check. One step at a time you'll manage to isolate the issue! Let me know if i can help any further!!
It doesn't really matter much, since you can put the track in mono in the editing, or replicate one channel on the other. Merged mode will do it already for you while filming. For streaming, definitely!
Hi Corey! That's quite strange, the only thing I can imagine is if in the software you're using the audio track is set to Stereo, and not Mono, and it's then outputting it only to one side... Might be, not sure!
Hi ! It's always just one file, video and audio together, but the audio has two channels. In your editing software you should be able to see Right and Left channels, so when using the safety track, one channel (i believe left) will have the normal level audio and the right channel will have a lowered audio track. While editing you can split them in two, and then make them work for both right and left channels, depending on which you need to use.
Soooo if I was filming 2 coaches for a training session would I use split ? And when you record in split do you get two different audio files or is it combined into 1 audio file ? I’m so confused ?
Hi ! Fitness coaches ? I'd use split if i were you, otherwise their breathing and talking will interfere with each other. It's always only 1 video file with the audio inside. The trick is that it splits Right and Left channel. Usually on the editing you don't see it exists, but you can configure the editing software to show you.

My query is regarding the use of Rode Wireless PRO. I want to use it as wireless hands free mic for public address for mega church meetings etc. where preacher and interpreter stands together with their mobiles etc. 1) Rode Wireless PRO being GHz,will our mobiles,wi-fi interference with it's signals, so that the voice gets affected?( Not saying about feed back, but about interference from other signals ) 2) Can Rode Wireless PRO receiver be connected directly to the sound amplifier or is it possible only through a mixer ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW,IF IT IS FINE TO GO FOR IT FOR MY SPECIFIC USE ?
Hi!! I'll be super happy trying to help: so in theory there should be no interference in the signal. And as long as whatever you want to connect it to has a 3.5 mm jack you'll be fine! Or you'll need one of the other cables Rode provides, to connect to phones for example through USB c or lightning.
hi there, your video is so useful, In premiere pro, clip channel format, number of audio clips options are not enabled in Modify clip dailog box. (Premiere pro). Please help me through this. thanks for the useful video.
Which software are you using to remove the background noise, my rode wireless go 2 capture a lot of background noise and its quite difficult to remove this background noise, how to get crisp clear audio using this microphone
If you use DaVinci Resolve just use the Voice Isolation feature. If you use Premiere just DeNoise or go to Audition and you'll have even more tools to clean it up.
Im having an issue. Whenever I switch to split mode my gopro9 will not pick up one of the microphones. It will only pick up both mics in merge mode? Im using a gopro9 with the media mod. I know its not the issue with the wirless mics because I hooked them up to my dji pocket 2 and it works fine. Only with my gopro9 with media mod. For some reason it seems that 1 microphone is on mute when its on split mode? I went through every setting and cant find a solution?
I think it might be because it has only Mono input, meaning you don't get two channels! Gotta check your specific GoPro, but someone here asked about the Insta360 and that was the issue!
@@FlyEnri no the GoPro 9 definitely has stereo I been using it for the past year. This issue just started the other day. The weird thing is 1 of the 2 mics works on split mode but the 2nd mic is acting like it's muted on split mode. I think it has something to do with the GoPro media mod.
Did you use an external recorder in order to use the safety channel? I can't find it anywhere, even though I was recording in merged mode with the safety channel on.
Hi ! It's in the same video clip, all you need is to show both channels of the audio, because the normal loudness will be on the left and the safety on the right channel. Which software are you using to edit ?
@@FlyEnri Hi! Thanks for replying. I'm using DaVinci Resolve. I think I know what the issue is. I was recording 3 mic'd people, so I used two Wireless Go II sets of mics. In other words I used a TRS splitter to connect the two receivers to my camera. I don't think I can access the safety channel because the only two channels of audio that are available are the two people on the first channel and the third person on the other. Thank you for your video. It was really helpful.
Yes ! But on one channel you'll have both microphones merged together, and on the other channel both also but on -20dB. So you won't be able to edit them separately, unless you recover the recording from the internal memory on each microphone. This is a very good way of using it. You got the ready audio, the safety channel, and also the independent recordings. But you'll always need to edit the audio in post, to be able to use it. It's not much work at all, but just be aware :D
Hi Juan! No, it's in the same file, but the normal recording stays on the left channel, and the safety on the right channel. On any editing software you can duplicate the audio, then copy left to right and right to left. Like this you'll be left with two tracks, one complete with the original and one complete at -20dB !
what about 2 person talking in split mode but the sound of 2 person is on both mic? i mean how to make it so like 1 mic takes only 1 person like maybe in post or what so ever?
@@FlyEnri i mean me and you in same place with 2 mic 1 on you and 1 on me, if we talk each other, the sound will go to yours and mine same time. what to do after?
So recording split but then duplicating (fill from left and fill from right) each track? So I’d have the left and right channel coming from both sides after that ???
The level on the Rode can't be the maximum, otherwise it's just way too much ambient noise. But the most important is to have it as close to the mouth as possible ! If you got a lav mic, it's even better !
Hi Roee! Yeah, it records on both channels the same audio. But in this case you have to retrieve the audio from the TX later on. The difference comes when connected to the RX, then it will depend if you set Split or Merged.
For recording motorcycle audio with both transmitters placed at different locations on the bike, should I be using merged or split in case of too much wind or exhaust noise?
Definitely split ! Like this you can mute or reduce the noise from one when it's too much and enhance only the other. If you merge them there's no control in post, just general volume.
@@FlyEnri I can't record any usable audio so far with this. At least not unedited. I've put on the wind fuzzy, wrapped it in cloth, put it in a bag, and then stuck it in a compartment...still gets blown out by the exhaust.
Ahhh that is a very extreme situation... Hmmmm maybe if you try merged then, put it on the lowest dB setting and activate the Safety channel. The safety will go -20dB lower than your setting in one of the channels, might be enough not to clip... 😅 But still you'll have to edit later because the audio will come just from one side, left or right. If you try let me know, I'm curious now wether this could be a solution 🤓
Hi! No, you can't add a third mic here, the only solution would be to add a second set of Rode wireless, and use a special device that allows for dual input before the input on the camera. So it would be like, two receivers, connecting to this device, and this device to the camera.
Because it records in only one file you only have the option of stereo. But then in the editing software you can separate in two different mono audio tracks :D
Im on merged and only using 1 receiver and when playing back audio the left side is way way louder than the right. It sounds reallly bad and i have no idea how to fix it.
Open your Rode Central, connect the RX . Turn OFF the Safety Channel option when using the Merged Mode to have the Right speaker of your headphones the same audio level as the Left speaker. (right speaker is -20db quieter than left when using Safety mode).
Exactly that! Thanks KJ! For the videos you already recorded, you can simply copy the left channel onto the right, and replace it. For the next ones, you can choose to have it lower, as it is, and have the safety in case some loud noise comes up (in these cases you use the lower volume side), or do like KJ said, and just deactivate the Safety Channel and you'll have always both sounding the same.
I have an issue I'm not able to solve... When recording in split mode, if I attach the receiver into a camera or to the Zoom h5, with a split cable and two VXLR+ adapters, all is fine. However, if I attach the receiver into a camera or to the Zoom h5 with a miniplug cable (the red one that comes with Wireless GO ii) and an adapter, only the transmitter nro 1 will work. No audio whatsoever will come out from transmitter nro 2 (although I see it working and recording on the transmitter). They both work and record internally, but for some reason I can't connect only transmitter nro 2 to any device. Any idea why?
Hi ! The miniplug red cable that comes with it should be enough to pass on both channels, or both transmitters audio in this case. If you see the receiver is picking up audio from TX01 and 02, and that they are two different lines, it indicates Split mode is really activated. I'd check the editing software to be sure it's not for some reason playing only the left or right channels. Which are you using, Premiere ?
@@FlyEnri Hey, thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I explained my case a bit unclearly. The thing is, when I attach the receiver to an external recorder (Zoom H5) with a single cable in split mode, I can see on the screen of the RX that both TX01 and TX02 are working. However, I can only hear and monitor the audio from TX01 on my Zoom H5. If I turn TX01 off, I hear nothing. So, my TX02 records internally, but for some reason I cannot hear or monitor it on an external recorder. I can do so with the TX01. I would assume there's something wrong with the TX02, but internally it records just fine, so I guess that's not the case... Any idea? So, this happens before taking it into any editing software.
Hi, I’m a Rode Wireless newbie and am testing merged recording with one receiver and two transmitters (no external recording device) but when attaching the transmitters to rode central the audio doesn’t seem to be merged (one voice is louder than the other dependent on which transmitter is plugged in). Can anyone help please?!
Hi dear ! Let me try to help, so it's configured as Merged, you have both transmitters active, and still you hear one much louder than the other ? They are the same distance from the person speaking, all conditions the same ? Check if the Safety Channel is active, because it records a lower volume version of the merged audio on one side, and the original on the other, might be that. But both audios from both transmitters should still sound equally high given the same conditions of recording.
I have the rode wireless Go 2 . be aware that if you try to use them on a Sony A7S3 . You get buzzing on the recording. I also have the new DJI dual mic system and in my opinion is much better !!
@@FlyEnri I tried multiple cables and even talked to Rode . They blame the Sony A7S3 and said its a known issue. Same cable work on my A7 iii no buzzing
Hey I still couldn’t understand I just wanna use one transmitter but the sound only comes out of one headphone can you plz explain it to me in details 😢😢
Hi dear! If you only wanna use one, set the Receiver to Merged and you'll be good to go! Connect the receiver to the computer, open up Rode Studio and you'll see like i showed on the video :) Let me know it works!
So when record in split. Then bring it in to premier.... Split the left and right into separate tracks.... Let's say my wife is in the left. I'm in the right. I scream in my mic as my wife is talking and I turn off the scream. Now her mic is only on the left. When I export the video. Will her talking only come out of one speaker or headphone?
Hi dear! Exactly! What you gotta do is duplicate the audio. At first you got 1 audio, with left and right channels, each of you is on one channel, in this case she's on the left and you're on the right. When you duplicate the audio on the timeline you'll have 2 audio tracks, each one with left and right, just the same. Now on the first you gotta copy Left to Right. This way, her voice will overwrite yours on the right channel, but only in that first track right. So now on audio 1 you can hear her voice coming from both sides. Ok, now you do the opposite on track 02. Copy right to left. So now audio 02 is only your voice, on both sides. Whenever you want to mute one of you, you mute the whole track and bingo! Not sure was clear, let me know!
You may have the clues on how to record, but you need to speak a little more slowly; just a little more slowly, but still a little more slowly. That will help your hearers deal with your accent.
Hi Christopher ! Great feedback ! I'm aware, many people commented on it so I slowed down in the videos I recorded later on ! Thanks a lot for watching and if you have any suggestions on new videos I can record I promise to go on a better pace :D
Ciao. Great video can u please tell me how you switch to merged mode from transmitter button without connecting rode central to pc laptop or mobile ? Is it possible?
Hi Vinny! Yeah, possible through the receiver, you gotta press both buttons on it for 3 seconds and you will see the levels of audio changing. When it's split you see two lines going up and down, and when it's on Merged it will show only one line. So just press, hold and it will change to the other depending on which you were using before. Hope it helps !!

I learned on the Rode website that if you press and hold both bottom buttons on the receiver that it'll toggle between split and merged. If it shows 2 channel volume bars then you're in split, if it's a single volume bar then it's merged.
Exactly, it's very good when you don't have time to access with the Central ! Great tip for everyone! :D

Exactly ! Way to go Jefferson !
Excellent explanation ! I will watch all of your videos now about this mic. I just got it and already messed on one of the video just because I did not use it correctly
Hey ! Yeahhh, you really gotta set it up right before beginning to use, after that, it's a breeze!
Thanks it worked for me using Rode Central i did not know about the app until this video ✌
Amazing! It's super useful isn't it ?
Thanks for this video. It's the only one i found which explain perfectly how it works. I had issues on Premiere for work on both tracks, now i know how to get them both and why i should stay on splitted channels. Thank you !
Perfect dear !! I'm glad this could help you out !
Thank you! I finally found a helpful video, I was going crazy trying to find a solution for my split channels. Very well explained, very helpful!
hahahaha I'm happy it helped ! The first time we listen and it's just on one side is a shock ! Thanks for watching !
Superb video. Just bought the GO II, and it would have taken me ages to figure out these different ways of handling recording the sound, and then dealing with split audio in my premier APP. This covers it all. Excellent video.
Super happy it helped ! Tricky config, I imagined it could help a lot of people ! Thanks for the feedback !
Ohhhh that's a super important thing to know then when using the M50 ! Thanks for sharing it !
@@FlyEnri for anyone else reading this the workaround is to just enable the on board recording. Requires syncing in post but still usable if you don't want to have to invest in a new camera!
Great video, thanks... which mode would you select if only using one transmitter and the other one not being used is switched off?
I'd use merged with the Safety Channel on ! Like this you have the audio on one channel, and the safety on the other. Later in editing you can choose which to use. If you're streaming or if there's no editing, then just merged !
Thankyou 🙏🏼
Great tips! Thanks Enri 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much dear !! Glad it helped !
@@FlyEnri The echo is pretty bad. It sounds like the two people are in a well :)
SIm, a idéia é ótima (embora eu deteste sincronizar! hehehe). Abraços e sucesso (ainda mais) no canal.

exactly what answers i have been looking for!!!!! 👍🏾✌🏾
Yeah !! Glad it helped dear !!
Great video. I recorded and it’s in my right speaker only. Anyway to fix it to have it on dual speakers in post editing? Adobe premier?
Exactly ! Search for the effect "Copy Right to Left" and it will duplicate the right channel onto the left one :D
@@FlyEnri Does this work if you're recording 2 mics in split mode, but then you want in the same cut, to just have one person. Because that one person will be on one side, and you want it to appear on both while the other person isn't there... Does that make sense?
thanks your video helps me to understand the split and merged mode
Glad it helped ! It's such an important feature to use it well !

Hi, thanks for your videos, My question is, how can I make the sound stereo when using only one transmiter. Thanks a lot
Wow this was so helpful thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks a lot for watching !
Let me know if i can help any further!!
maaan....excellent video! great presentation...Thank you!
Super happy it was useful!! Thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback!!
So if im planning on only having one person mic'd up shouldn't i have it in merged mode?
It doesn't really matter much, since you can put the track in mono in the editing, or replicate one channel on the other. Merged mode will do it already for you while filming. For streaming, definitely!
I need help 🙃 idk if you can help me but I selected merged mode but the audio is still split
Hi Corey! That's quite strange, the only thing I can imagine is if in the software you're using the audio track is set to Stereo, and not Mono, and it's then outputting it only to one side... Might be, not sure!
For an outdoor interview with 2 subjects would you recommend split or merge?
Definitely split when 2 people are talking! Unless you need it for streaming or something that goes directly on air !
Thank you! Kept it fun and practical
Awesome feedback, thanks a lot !!
great video - where can I find the sefety track when I recording internal on the device? - is it a different file?
@@FlyEnri ok, but You speak in of file in camera - not in the internal memory of rode mic?
Soooo if I was filming 2 coaches for a training session would I use split ? And when you record in split do you get two different audio files or is it combined into 1 audio file ? I’m so confused ?
Hi ! Fitness coaches ? I'd use split if i were you, otherwise their breathing and talking will interfere with each other. It's always only 1 video file with the audio inside. The trick is that it splits Right and Left channel. Usually on the editing you don't see it exists, but you can configure the editing software to show you.

Greetings. Thank you for your great video.
Please guide me like you do to own brother or to a close friend, though I am asking about the Pro,it will be similar to your Wireless Go.
My query is regarding the use of Rode Wireless PRO.
I want to use it as wireless hands free mic for public address for mega church meetings etc. where preacher and interpreter stands together with their mobiles etc.
1) Rode Wireless PRO being GHz,will our mobiles,wi-fi interference with it's signals, so that the voice gets affected?( Not saying about feed back, but about interference from other signals )
2) Can Rode Wireless PRO receiver be connected directly to the sound amplifier or is it possible only through a mixer ?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW,IF IT IS FINE TO GO FOR IT FOR MY SPECIFIC USE ?
Hi!! I'll be super happy trying to help: so in theory there should be no interference in the signal. And as long as whatever you want to connect it to has a 3.5 mm jack you'll be fine! Or you'll need one of the other cables Rode provides, to connect to phones for example through USB c or lightning.
Excellent guide, thank you!
Thanks a lot dear !!
hi there, your video is so useful,
In premiere pro, clip channel format, number of audio clips options are not enabled in Modify clip dailog box. (Premiere pro).
Please help me through this.
thanks for the useful video.
Hi Mani! But can you see L and R written as columns over there? These are the left and right channels! :) Thanks for watching !

Sorry, it wasnt very clear for me. So, can u use the safety track (record on -20db) while using BOTH lavs? Thanks!
@@FlyEnri great, thank you very much!
where do you find the safety recording? I have the back up option on. Is it a separate file that's saved?
Hi Juan! No, it's in the same file, but the normal recording stays on the left channel, and the safety on the right channel. On any editing software you can duplicate the audio, then copy left to right and right to left. Like this you'll be left with two tracks, one complete with the original and one complete at -20dB !
epic video, helped me a lot, cheers bro
Super happy it helped ! It's a bit confusing at first, so I thought would be a good idea to make this :D
what about 2 person talking in split mode but the sound of 2 person is on both mic? i mean how to make it so like 1 mic takes only 1 person like maybe in post or what so ever?
Hi ! I'm not sure I got the idea! If each one's got one mic, and you're in split mode it will be separate :D
Exactly !! It should work perfectly like that !
How do you set it up to not pick up background noise like if I were in a gym or in public, that constant ambience?
The level on the Rode can't be the maximum, otherwise it's just way too much ambient noise. But the most important is to have it as close to the mouth as possible ! If you got a lav mic, it's even better !
If you're using only the TX and turning off the RX, would the TX record stereo (R and L channels for a single mic)?
Hi Roee! Yeah, it records on both channels the same audio. But in this case you have to retrieve the audio from the TX later on. The difference comes when connected to the RX, then it will depend if you set Split or Merged.
Great video ! Thank you 🙂
Thanks a lot for the feedback, super happy it's helping people !
Have you tried the BOYA BY-XM6 S2 if this work seperating the mics to seperate channels ?
Hi! I've never tried this Boya microphones, I've got only some lav mics from them and they are pretty good !
@@FlyEnri ok. Thanks for reply . I returned it for other solutions
Thank you great video man!

do both mics still have to be on for merged mode?
The selection is made on the receiver, so it actually sets it for both transmitters, you can't choose for only one.
As a fellow content creator this helped so much, on top of that your editing is fucking crazy bro! Much love from sydney Australia. Keep it up
Thank you so much bro!! Really appreciate it!
this worked, thank you!
great! glad it helped !!
thanks so much for this
You're very welcome! :D
Super video!
Thanks a lot dear !!
can you run a third mic off a single receiver?
Hi! No, you can't add a third mic here, the only solution would be to add a second set of Rode wireless, and use a special device that allows for dual input before the input on the camera. So it would be like, two receivers, connecting to this device, and this device to the camera.
can you make it mono for both instead of stereo? So one mono each?
Because it records in only one file you only have the option of stereo. But then in the editing software you can separate in two different mono audio tracks :D
ok thanks!@@FlyEnri
Thank you.
You're welcome!
But both audios from both transmitters should still sound equally high given the same conditions of recording.
great video

@@FlyEnri Left was still stronger than right and not a great sound.
Hey I still couldn’t understand I just wanna use one transmitter but the sound only comes out of one headphone can you plz explain it to me in details 😢😢
Hi dear! If you only wanna use one, set the Receiver to Merged and you'll be good to go! Connect the receiver to the computer, open up Rode Studio and you'll see like i showed on the video :) Let me know it works!
legendary
Thanksssss !!!
Vai Botafogo kkkk
hahahahaha vai Fogaooooooo !
Lollll wish I could switch it to split after the fact.
hahahahaha already recorded ? Well, next time !
"E aí"? Você é brasileiro kkkk ?
😂😂😂 Tive que arranjar algum jeito de começar os videos, saiu isso e ficou, hahahaha
03:07 Poor microphone 😂😂😂
They suffer sometimes, but generally we treat them well, hahahahaha
Nice but you flew thru
Gotta watch in 0.75x, hahahahahaha
