For this intro it's Suga's battle with his shadow and on the switch up at the end it's his shadow singing back to him letting him know that they are the same person and that he'll be better if he just accepts it. Also it is how people want to be famous but then comes the craziness of sasaengs (stalkers), paparazzi, haters and the fear of falling from Grace. Every person has their own shadows whether we want to accept it or not it's what makes us human.
The shadows have multiple meanings in this video. I believe the shadows at the beginning are his fear and insecurities. The shadows in the crowds with the phones are those obsessed fans and the people that want to use them. The door is suppose to be a reference about opening a door in his mind to his ego as well as inspiration drawn from Anish Kapoor's art, Svayambh. It seems that Suga is fighting an internal struggle over BTS' overwhelming fame and success. At the beginning of the video, he is stating all of his dreams and ambitions from when he was a young rapper starting out in the industry. Now that he has reached his dreams, those dreams have become nightmares. So much that at times he feels consumed by them. It seems as if he has come to the conclusion that fame and success comes with a price. With success there are more pressures and expectations. Basically, the higher you go, the farther you can fall. During the song, he says don't let me fly. Almost like he's saying that because of the pressures of success, he doesn't want to do music anymore. With more fame, there is constant scrutiny to be perfect and an invasion of his privacy by the media, obsessive 'fans', and those that want to use BTS for profit. In the end, it seems that his persona and ego have reconciled that they are one and the same person. There is no reason to be at odds, instead they should work together to move forward. Basically don't let your fears hinder you, instead be courageous and use those fears to motivate you. I've come to realize that your fears are important. They are there for self preservation as well as good sources of betterment and encouragement. You guys should watch Black Swan because it moves the storyline forward. What would happen if they couldn't or wouldn't do their music anymore? Their artistry is an extension of who they're and it would be painful if they lost it. But in the end, they reconcile that with all the negatives of being famous and successful, there are also many wonderful positives. Such as being able to create beautiful music and connect with people from all over the world! So really, their artistry is what saves them!💜😁
Love it... I was thinking mostly the same interpretation as you with one small difference. My interpretation of the "I wanna be a __" even in the beginning of the video is actually that is his shadow talking because Suga has always said he never wanted to be famous, just wanted to make music and money, and shadow is supposed to be the undesirable aspect of yourself that you unconsciously repress. So as his shadow grows he begins to realize there is that side of him, which as he accepts, actually helps him through these insecurities and inner struggles. His shadow gives him the drive to push past these struggles and fly higher. It's crazy because his lyric can be interpreted in a way to transform the thinking of "the higher you go the farther you can fall" into "the higher you go the bigger his shadow becomes" which can be viewed as his shadow grows bigger to help him through the growing struggle of becoming more famous. This is also represented in the music as how Suga says "I wanna be a __" starts soft and sort of grows louder and darker as song reaches the chaotic finale where Suga realizes that his shadow is a part of him no matter what, and he should accept it. The acceptance is shown in the video as the shattering and cracking of mirrors (a common theme in BTS past MVs showing the mirror as a barrier between their different selves), him opening the doors to let the shadows come in and consume him, etc. Did anyone also notice the quick flash of wings drawn around him? I have a strong feeling that BTS will connect part of this album to Wings, maybe relating this concept of shadow to the Icarus story? I also predict that J-hope's Ego MV will be related to Boy Meets Evil, and that the video shows his Ego accepting his Shadow (Boy = Ego, Evil = Shadow if you catch my drift) Anyway, still love your comment. Agreed. The Black Swan on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. is the real/original single version. The art film features a strings/orchestral version of the original, so I also highly recommend them to listen to the original version before watching the Black Swan art film video.

His innocent young self wanted fame and money and to make music, but then when he realized what it really was: no privacy, loneliness, hard work, making lots of sacrifices. He gets scared "don't let me fly" but he also doesn't want to let go "don't let me down" he is scared "now I am afraid". So then the shadow comes up: the hunger, the origin of his ambition. The shadow makes him double down on his ambition and drive. "You are me and I am you". You can't ignore your shadow, if you do it controls you. Suga who had an innocent dream really was acting on a forgotten lack of recognition and validation that he put away in his shadow. But that pushing away led to the emergence of this dream of becoming a rap star.

the red thing on the walls is actually made of wax and inspired by anish kapoor's installation art called “svayambh” which means 'self-made' in sanskrit. it was explained that a block of red wax was placed on a rail and moved thru a series of door-like structures. the block gets smaller and smaller as it scrapes onto the border of these doors and loses parts of itself as it pushes through. it might be a metaphor to suga losing parts of himself as he goes through the path towards his dream and that you won't be the same person from where you started. this shadow is also not the full version. a 4"20' full track will be available after 7's release so i hope you listen to that too. the switch up in the end with the voice filter/ distortion to suga's voice marks how it's his shadow talking to him now. the suga on stage faces the suga on the crowd which is his shadow. his shadow says that he can't find peace within himself if he doesn't accept him. that they are one being and in order to be free from the fear of it, he must accept it.

Basically a giant block of wax was made and put on some kind of tracks and pushed along a path with doors much too small for it to fit through. So it leaves a trail, losing more and more of itself as it moves along and shapes itself. "The artwork ‘Svayambh’ by Amish Kapoor is initially a big block of wax forced through doors in order to leave behind a residue. “It’s as if it’s skinning itself as it goes through the doors”. In the end, the block is shaped into a perfect mold of the doorway." Its actually inspired by an art piece.
Basically a giant block of wax was made and put on some kind of tracks and pushed along a path with doors much too small for it to fit through. So it leaves a trail, losing more and more of itself as it moves along and shapes itself. "The artwork ‘Svayambh’ by Amish Kapoor is initially a big block of wax forced through doors in order to leave behind a residue. “It’s as if it’s skinning itself as it goes through the doors”. In the end, the block is shaped into a perfect mold of the doorway."
"Svayambh" is a Sanskrit word and the two main interpretations for the word I've seen are "created out of self" and "Self generated"
And I think for Yoongi he maybe fears the attention itself. Because its known he has social anxiety and to be honest negative or positive, attention can get stressful. Especially the more attention there is. But enjoyed your reaction to it!
