Not sure if you guys saw or heard the interview where Suga talks about how he cried in the shower after their first live performance on American TV in November 2017 on the American Music Awards. He said he was terrified by the growth of their fame, the responsibility, the potential for and agonizing fall. Facing being on top was overwhelming to all seven of them - and shortly following that November, then December's award shows, BTS went into a long period of silence that startled and concerned ARMY. It was as if they had disappeared. Then came the announcement in March 2018 that they had resigned for another 7 years with BigHit, actually a year earlier than the contract was due to be renegotiated. 2018 saw them blaze into glory and then we saw and heard what happened during that time of silence when Jin revealed at 2018 MAMA that they had been so overwhelmed they discussed disbanding. Imagine the fears! The loss of privacy! The responsibility to more and more millions! Then they broke free of the earth's gravity and reached orbit. It is unimaginable what BTS will give us over this next year!

Army’s found out the number on his left shoulder is an old motorcycle model, which brings us to his permanently damaged shoulder. He never told anyone in fear of not debuting with the others members. Maybe the # is a symbol that he fought with his own physical limitations and overcame it to be a successful star. But his injury is a part of his shadow. Its a part he can't get rid of, he has to live with it everyday...his physical limitation will forever be with him. He achieved everything he wanted years ago but it all came w a cost and he knows he can take a way out, but instead he’s accepted it and lives with all of it.

An amazing thing about "perfectioning" your craft is that BTS is going back to their past albums and you can clearly see how much they've improved and evolved as artists when you compare it. They respect the place were they began, but at the same time they are saying "you are part of who I am, now it's time for you to meet the whole new person I became since I found you at first." That's impressive.

One thing I noticed is that during their debut in 2013, in NO MORE DREAM, Suga rapped "I want a big house, big car and big rings" when they were just starting, with hopes and dreams of success. And now, 7 yrs later, it's like he's looking back on what he wished for, realizing it's more than he might've been ready for. It's pure genius and I'm sure it's not a coincidence.
"Don't disrespect your craft" I agree with you. BTS put a lot in their song, their craft. You can see how proud they are at their craft. They don't compromise. When listening, you get the feeling of them saying "This is my song" or what they always say "This is Bangtan style"

I'm pretty sure that the last part: red and black, is his 'shadow' - his depression and greed. In an interview with billboard he said that his depression, anxiety and loneliness will probably with him for the rest of his life. ("Success or fail, you can't escape I will always be a part of you") It's crazy... And the very last part with the cellphones, it probably relates to his social anxiety, that he has to face every day, especially as an idol... constanty observed and judged... ah it's so sad..

Suga once said how he feels about his level of success " it's like I'm in an elevator, I wanted to go to 15th floor but ended up on 60th ". Even though Suga always was greedy about his success(talked about it in 'give it to me' on his mixtape), all the pressure makes him depressed... Another time, at the begging of 2018, the members had to draw a happiness chart, and Yoongi's perfectly showed how a person with depression feels: his happiness was once at 100% then at 0 than 80 than 20 and just going up and down rapidly nonstop... I feel bad for him, theessage of the song is so sad, but I'm proud too, knowing that he shares these thoughts and feelings with us.
Nicole Wolf that chart was so revealing of their psych. There were so much vulnerabilities. He was not well and the other members were aware but couldn’t help. Jin wrote him a letter and told him to share his burden with them.

Nicole Wolf yes it’s very courageous of Yoongi to share these thoughts. Jimin works hard and sometimes very hard on himself. Glad Yoongi was there to told him his voice is unique and many people likes it including himself. Ailee said the same thing in recent interview. She likes Jimin’s captivating voice when they just debuted. I hope Jimin knows he is already a great artist and vocalist.

This song really fools you with it's slow, calm beginning, then it rocks! The lyrics are so deep and sad yet it bangs. I love Suga's deep voice. I said to my hubby whilst playing Suga/BTS on holiday last summer that listening to Suga's voice is so soothing to my soul - no matter where in the world I might be, having BTS with me - I'm home, they are my home. Purple you guys.

I love that this song goes with the storyline, but also with the struggles of (what we have been shown) of Yoongi as an artist.
I love how both RM and Suga do thought provoking raps but the way they play with their beats and melodies really invoke different emotions even though they are the same truths.

The part where he is saying “you are me I am you you know now” it’s his shadow (past self) saying how his future and him are the same now. His past experiences are him, his struggles are also him. Now that he is shining and his shadow grows bigger so does his ego but he doesn’t want it that way.

I think when the beat changed, into like a darker and more intense vibe, and when the point of view changes to "you are me and I am you" and stuff like that, I think that was his shadow talking. There are two suga's, one in the crowd and one at the top, the one in the crowd is probably his shadow as he keeps looking at the suga at the top, I know that means something and there is so much more hidden messages and meanings in here as well. There are so many theories in just this one little video, Imagine what they have stored for us when they release the album, a whole new era of bts is coming and it's definitely going to be more evil and dark and I don't think we're ready for it. Don't be sad. Be relieved instead cos through this song, Yoongi is letting us know that he acknowledges and accepts his internal battles/demons within himself. Cos it's real life, we all have our own demons within ourselves. At the end, Suga and his shadow became one. He accepted his shadow. His shadow was a part of the crowd just taking pictures and not enjoying the performance. He accepeted that that's how it is. He might not like it, but he accepted it.
It just makes me want to hug him.
I rememeber when I went to their concert. I couldn't see them properly because there were so many godamn phones on the way T.T
Next concert I go, I swear, I will go soundcheck and I will write "I'm sorry" on the palms of my hands and hope that he can see it. Because tbh, I am really sorry that this is the price they have to pay.
The section of the song in which the bass becomes more prevalent and everything becomes dark, red, and chaotic is when SUGA’s shadow begins to speak to him.

I watched another reaction vid to this and someone else commented that Yoongi is responding to RM questions from PERSONA. Also, y'all are hitting the nail on the head. Yoongi at 1st was telling us in the past he wants to be a king, rap star, producer, etc. Then, he drops on the pedistal and becomes all those things, but the shadows are still there with him, then when it turns dark, that's his shadow speaking about everything saying him and his shadow are one and yes you can't run away, sometimes there is a price for being famous, no private life, always in the spotlight, etc. Yoongi has suffered in the past with deep depression and anxiety, the others had to help him through that. He lost a lot of weight, if you look back at their videos you can actually see the weight lose as their vids progress. 1st, their is the PERSONA, then the SHADOW, then EGO. All these album show a progression and enter lock with each other. Also, when he dropped on the pedistal, there was graffiti that showed their earlier album, O,RUL8,2! He is doing the same as RM did for PERSONA, taking some bits of music from the past and incorporating it into the future. Probably letting them never forget where they came from and just adding to their journey. I can't wait to see what the other members come up with! And I can't help but to think really hard and worryingly about what will happen when Jin has to leave for military service. Love y'all!! And btw, where are y'all from? My heart breaks every time I think about how all of them had to fight and endure to get to where they are today, and now to struggle to survive the limelight. How tough it must have been for Suga, who has a sensitive old soul, and for the rest of the boys. I can't imagine, they started out so young. Gosh, I just admire them a tonne for staying strong, knowing what they want and loving ARMY so much.

The line 'the time I faced myself brought the lowest, it so happens I'm flying the highest' brought to me to last year where they thought about disbanding.
Where the beat change I totally his shadow part speaking to him, to accept the dark that comes with the light.
To me this song was all about the dark side of Fame: the lack of privacy, the media scrutiny, the pressure to break records etc. It's crazy.

thank you for talking about Yoongi's progression. we're in the 4th year since Agust D, and even though he hasn't dropped the second mixtape, we can tell he's been growing. i think he once said he writes like over 200 songs a year or something like that. Yoongi breathes music. it doesn't stop for him; he'll always grow.
