What a gem of a find in the middle of all the youtube junk. It is rewarding to watch such a smart and educated person distill and explain so much research. This is your tax dollars working for you. Thank you AMNH.

Bit of a stretch to call that exercise in this video, but i agree exercise does positively effect the brain. I am wondering what happens to the brain when people stop - or never exercise.. could it be one of the biggest causes of anxiety/depression that so many in the western world suffer which appears to be growing more common than the past. Or if thats just because we talk about it more.
I think exercise that is equal to the idea of simulating hunting or fleeing or long distance migration would be most akin to what our genetics are built for. So a mix of it would be similar to what our ancestors had to do and their bodies evolved to do.

clearly, this aerobic exercise is easier to do in a classroom.
no one is going to try a Grand jeté in class.
plus, no one has to overdo exercise... just get your blood pumping several times a week and you are maintaining your body just fine.
      exercise is great.

But the argument is exercise helps the brain. But i am sure walking around going to class will do far more blood pumping than what ever that exercise was standing on the spot ever could.
She went to get training for that, seriously? You could just jog on the spot or do star jumps - you don't need training for such basic exercises.

the type of exercise routine she goes on about has been known for a long time. the military has been using it for more that decades! during a run, the sargent or whatever is calling and the troops are responding with positives (according to military training) as they run. Iv done this over 20 years ago on myself when I was in the gym. working out while repeating to yourself positives about what your doing, what your training for, about others as well as yourself. NOT NEW! "intensaki" (or whatever that BS , made up word is) has been known for centurys. again...NOTHING NEW, Dr.

The difference is, she can explain the neurological reasons for it working. You can't.
