I have one and it’s so much fun. Definitely like a mini Cold Buster. Could use more power but still fun for me and my toddler kids
I like mine. HPI Wheely King body fits wheelbase and it’s a fun 1/12 scale old skool looking monster truck. Everyone loves monster trucks!
I think a lot of people forget about the "fun" part sometimes in the hobby.
Best car i had was the HPI wheely king i loved that. i jumped it off my roof and nothing damaged.
This is the same chassis as the thundertiger toyota hilux/ team associated cr12.
Its meant for trail running, not durable enough for bashing. This will break pretty fast.

Not sure it’s that new. Looks like an Associated CR12 chassis. It’s almost identical to my TTRCSport PUBG ‘Military vehicle’, itself based on the CR12. The blue shocks are different.

I think this is the first RC I've ever seen that a lipo didn't make it a bit faster or a bit more punch, Looks like a fun little monter truck 👍🏻✌🏻

I love mine, it's perfect for the garden. Feels a little like a Lunchbox, no wheelies but it jumps better. I always take the mirrors of before I run it.
If that went much faster it would be rolling looks fun man
great review - video Phil, looks the kinda RC to take to the beach while on holiday, to rip around with of an evening - early morning while it's quiet, to relax & enjoy some uncomplicated RCing fun.
I love this thing! So retro 80’s looking. 😂 And I agree, make the mirrors rubber! If I get this I’ll probably leave the mirrors off 😂 Great video, Phil!

Yep, put some glue on my mirrors just for added strength and led’s in the roll bar really set it off!
While I think it’d benefit from a touch more speed, I think I’m keeping mine stock.

It's the old cr12 crawler, just big wheel and larger hexagone ,,i have one
It does land really well, and handling looks good too. Shame it's too small for my liking. Oh but wait! If we all ordered 1:12 scale RCs that match our 1:10 ones, we could line our walls with the smaller versions just for decoration and stach the biggerones out of sight in the garage/unit/spare castle, or wherever.

Same chassis as the TA Cr12. Biggest issue it has is the plastic diff gears. The Fj45 body was one of the coolest lexans.

Looks fun though the motor being Brushed in this day and age for something $200+'s ridiculous imo, they could have put in a cheap brushless motor but maybe there's a positive reason besides cost? I dunno I find it absurd

Not even close to a classic MT like smt or lmt. The original chassis is the cr12 and is a trail truck with a wimpy ladder style chassis, plastic gears and no Slipper. Only meant for mild trail running. Bashing will break that thing really fast.
@@AsurasWrath164 yea meant a scx 10 every solid axle monster truck is a converted trail truck or a crawler with bigger tires and gearing , sometimes with a cage . Im guessing you should pick one up and bash it and post it? Might take off for ya
@jnmwtkns absolutely not. Solid axle MT always have a TVP chassis and are never converted trail trucks. Utter nonsense!
Edit: and I own this exact chassis! I know exactly what it's capable of.

Love mine. I run a 2 cell LIHV for a bit more pop. That motor gets screaming hot on it so I got a little heat sink and all good :)
So they name a solid axle the MT12, but the name much more similar to the other MTs a Reflex 14MT? Associated is off their meds. At least in the naming department. They make nice RCs tho

I’d love to see your review of the Tamiya Hotshot. Build and run. A car I’ve never had. Oh I’ve got the follow ins. Bigwig, Hotshot2, Boomerang etc etc. but never the og 1st Tamiya 4 wheel drive car. This as well many other RC cars look so light though imitating some real life. I like RC cars, yet to have modern one since the 80s but when i will have, i am going to at least add weight to make it go more realisticly. I dont know if added weight makes that but thats smt i really would like to try.

Forget it! This thing has plastic gears and not even a slipper clutch.
It's based off the cr12 which is a rebrand of the thunder tiger Hilux

I really like how scale it is!
Looks small for a 12th scale. If I remember correctly hpi's wheely king is 12th scale and was noticably larger
20km/h for a tiny 380 and those big tires = not too bad I'd say. And the plastic bits snapping.. No surprise there, since the MT12 is, basically a sped-up Thundertiger 12th scale crawler. I got a sprue full of Axial mirrors and stuff in flexible nylon. I gather that will alleviate the breakage quite nicely. I think I get me one of these. The Crawlers were fun for their size (I got 2 NIB for just under 100 Euro's a piece in a sale) , but a smallish, but not 1/24 scale 'small' Monstertruck in vintage look? Oh boy, even better..

Looks like a decent little solid axle monster truck. Any idea if it's metal geared? Looking forward to trying out with power system would give it just a little more punch yet keep it reliable.
The original chassis cr12 has plastic gears.

Check out the surpass hobby supersonic. 380/390 size brushless sensored system, 80amp esc motors available upto 5000kv. Something like that would be perfect in there , maybe not such a high a kv but the system in general for that brushed control feel with brushless power.

I didnt have good luck with my radio gear it would get like 10ft away and lose signal I binded it and rebound it replaced batteries still no range, so it got a dumbo.
