Really enjoyed this vid Phil. It’s a little beast!!! However I’ve included a couple quid with this to go towards driving lessons for ya 😂😂
Legend. Merry Christmas
@@TomleyRC u too mate. Hope u and ur family have the best day!
You're awesome mate.!! 👍 👍 👍 👍
Merry Christmas..
I feel robbed that we didn't get the Allen Allen Allen! That HPI is a little tank though. Happy Holidays from America!
I think you’ve done an amazing job this month with all the videos mate keep up the good work. Thank you
O rings in the diff cups Phil. It tightens up the drive line and keeps the dog bones from dropping all the time. Every savage does it occasionally. This has been a great video series. Cheers mate Merry Christmas.
23 days straight of looking forward to a new video to watch every day. It will be sad when it's over...
I will be sad to ❤❤
Yeah, gonna be strange for me as well. But I need a break haha
It’s been a great month of videos. Watched every one of them, hope you do something similar next year. Merry Xmas Phil!!
I have really enjoyed your reviews during this Christmas Advent series. This little truck looks tough. It's kind of sad that the popularity of HPI declined in the U.S. since the 90's, when it one was one of the most popular brands. The nitro Savage was a brute. I think r/c's like this could help bring them back to a more popular position. I found one thing interesting when I checked on prices in the U.S., the El Camino version is about $25 less. Maybe because the body looks like it was designed by Evil Knievel.
Yes, HPI went through some tough times and sadly they have yet to recover
@@TomleyRC I think this is a good little truck. You gave it.a good review. There is another TH-camr I follow in the U.S. who really beats up the trucks and cars he tests. He shows no mercy. He went into detail about all the good things about it. I think there are a lot of people who would like to see HPI be more successful. I think if they lowered the price by about $50 on this truck they would sell a lot.
i had one of the original ones in about 2012. It was a beast. But it was nothing compared to the savage flux 8th scale!
The minus side is that it is pretty costly. But my experience with HPI tells me the extra cost has been put on radio, servo and wheels. That for me is a big plus because there is no need to upgrade it straight away as it is with 95% of all other RTR.
on mine the first thing i did as soon as i took it out of the box was upgraded the swing arms , metal diff case , new rims and tires , re oil the shocks with thicker one i felt it was too bouncy stock form for me , then i changed the pinion and kept the stock ecs and motor for now but i want to go for a sensored 5300kv motor and put a 17 tooth pinion thats my next upgrade . it needs some reinforcement on the middle part of chassis. and cvd's because just like him i also pop the shafts.
@Coyote.five.0 Sounds like wise upgrades 👍. I usually make upgrades step by step when something breaks or has other issues I find disturbing 🙂 Are the original wheels and tires not good or why did you changed them?
@@electricnitrorc i needed paddles for loose sand i go often to the beach with my rc ,but stock tires do last long
Great truck and you get what you pay for, my friend was selling me his before this new one dropped I just never picked it up
@@RcPlayer-tt2vw Very true in most cases 👍
Nice one Mr Tomley! IMHO HPI are one of the best manufacturers out there. Did you notice how both the HPI's you ran recently both tracked staright, both were built tough and are great fun. I have always been an HPI fan and I am really pleased to see them on your channel. Nice vid sir! Merry Christmas mate.
Yes, both need minimal set up if anything out the box. Looking forward to more from HPI 👌
Plus these designs were ahead of their time , still form able all these years later
I have small hands. How far does the handlegrip go down until that bump is there? I might be able to use it without touching that bump. :)
Pretty fantastic truck, Phil! Awesome bashing and review!!! 😃
When you can, take a look at the ZLL SG216! I saw a guy bashing it at an skate park and he couldn't brake it. But I bet you can! 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Excellent.
I would get that over a Traxxas at a similar price point
Hi tomley 2 little thing that you don't know a bout the new controller 1st is it can be changed to left handed by swopping the steering round and 2 just underneath the throttle Trigger if you look on the base of the transmitter you will see a HPI sticker underneath the sticker is a magnet so you can stick your body pins to the controller ps being whatch all these Christmas calendar videos brilliant idea love it can I have one next year🙂👍
Now thats a proper little ripper 🔥
Merry Christmas Phill, great job on all the videos this month 👍🏻
Merry Christmas dude
Hosim Power, Hosim Speed, Hosim Tough, Hosim Fun, Happy Hosim Holidays !!!
Man I’m thinking of getting an xs, then I’d have a savage flux hp and xs. Seems to be much crazier than on 2s then the bl-2s systems
This seemed faster than the stampede BL2s you did. But, the stampede definitely seems more durable. Only a few bent shock rods. Seems every few jumps with this, you were hitting the bench digging through your box of bits. 😂 Still a great video, Phil. I like this thing.
Great review Phil. But I think I would go for the mt10.
Yep. That or the Kaiju when it's on sale.
Great video.. that thing took a beating. It would be interesting to see it up against the AE Reflex 14t or 14 mt.
52 for that little car, damn.
They don't provide the pinion, huh wat, where's the traxxas like bashing for no $5 pinion lol
Yeah… but HPI actually make the correct size Pinion for that claimed speed 😅
3s is the only way I run my xs baby!!!!
I used to have one of these with the white raptor body. It’s the only car I’ve regretted selling. Apart from chewing through drive cups it’s an absolute tank. Tempted to get another one now. Another great review, Phil. 👍🏻
LETS GOOO I LOVE THIS CAR
Me too 🤘
The American variant looks like a Ranchero or El Camino.
Yes 👌
Awesome lil truck... it just broke those lil things dribing it with that vold weather. It is a beast.. I love mine !..
I've been looking at these for a little while. May be one of my next buys
It's pretty amazing not the most durable truck out there but nice and very different
Not surprised it broke the amount of punishment and crashes you had !
Yeah, some pretty brutal ones
I own the original xs. It's at least 12 years old. Old electronics died around 10 yrs old. I now run a vxl3. Still not as cool as the original flux savage's ability to do standard backflips and 80 mph castle creation 22v combo. Absolutely insane.
Hi tomley love your vids, been watching your vids for a while and is thrilled to have a 1 video aday for 25 days due to the advent calender and im in the hobby, its tough and expensive for me i just have a hbx 16889a pro and a mst rmx 2.5. I decided not to go with the cheapos and went straight to hobby grade for the long term, merry christmas to you and your family!
Great choices. Merry Xmas
@@TomleyRC thanks you too
Well good morning from 805 Ca. Day 23 nice basher I like it it seems like it’s well made with decent performance. We just had 3 days of rain here so I’m getting out with a truck loaded with RC’s. Gunna be muddy👍
The way that thing drives on 3S really reminds me of my TRAXXAS 1/16 E-Revo VXL. Absolutely rediculous for its size 😂
It was always HPI vs Traxxas while I was growing up, now its Arrma vs Traxxas. HPI fell off apparently 🤷♂🤷♂
Is a lot of fun, very fast on 3s , solid and heavy to be small .Is not a 1/10, is 1/12 scale ,looks a little small than 1/10.The problems : if you abuse it, required a high maintenance . parts damage easily , pinion, gears, dog bone, dif. cap , loose Allen screw in dif. cup. Those are main issues ,. Takes time to repair ,due to same complications to dissemble and ensemble. Comparative whit other s brands, and also the price is high . Before buy, take in consideration the issues .
Tomley rc good running HPI Savage is good to hpi getting back into the haddy define RC car company hpi i willel mis old savage old friends ❤💯👍👍👍 I wish you a Merry Christmas and new year 💯🙏🏻🎄
This style of RC is the one I love 😂
🤘
So you control backflips and frontflips with brake and acceleration?
The 'NASCAR" is a Chevy El Camino body. Don't think it made it to the euro market back when they made it .
Landing on power in all your videos mate! Makes my diff sympathy gauge flap. Land off power and these bashers will last way longer.
McFarland Racing sticker!!!!
Hell Yeah Brother
On the 23thrd day of Christmas Santa dude gave to me a hpi muscle flexing Savage RC
I own one of these that I got in 2013 and i love it so much. I’ve gotten so many aluminum upgrades for it and it’s amazing.
i used to have a savage 25, upgraded to 3 speed and RR hardened gearset and clutch. it took out a fence post and kept going with only a broken bumper.
Hpi went through a bit of a sketchy spell for a good few years there . Have they pulled their socks up and had a word with themselves recently?
not the best basher. my pinion moved and stripped out the idler gear. cup and axle have bent and gotten jammed and have broken two suspension arms! I thought this thing would have held up a little better.
I would rather the new associated 14mt blue and purple that's coming out
It's expensive but worth it if you're into a smaller scale for sure
Phil Would you buy me one of those "I ❤ to make boys cry" shirts for Christmas? Love your 25 day videos.
Yeah a complicated car which in the size class is expensive most problem in the test run beetween this and other small size cars.... it's a no for me....
I have tried to join the raffle but can't create a account as when I enter a password and copy it exactly it tells me they don't match even though they are the same , so I guess I can't win 😢 or have a chance, so good luck to all and merry Christmas 🎄
I usually bring some tools, some zipties,a small roll of duct tape, a small can of wd40 and a small bag of bits and bobs all in a bag.
Saw some bods ripping one of these on the beach once it was fast as F#*K so wanted one but by time had the funds HPI had gone under!
lol American nascar-y body. It’s a Chevy El Camino.
I still run my savage Xanax!! Problem is getting different style rims and tires
How dare you stick a hpi sticker on to the mcfarland sticker!? 😂
I think they just need some good foam in the tires.
Think I'd pick this one over the new Stampede 4x4!
My calibrated speed eyes know that! 😆 great work, Tomley. I use an old savage body made to half cab on a crawler rig I call sportyortydopalicious, aka sporty doowop aka the Mutt 😂 a truck with many names... Perfect 👌 bodies for crawlers nice and low plus original nobody uses them. I've always loved hpi they had the king basher title for years! 💯
Haha nice
Used to have one of these... I never should have sold it! Thing was an animal!
Alin alin alin
I've replaced the esc fan on mine twice. It's gone again. Maybe something to keep an eye on
Diffs are weak spots.
Yeah. They break too much to bother.
That's a tough little f%!$#r there!! Great vid Phil!
just got a mjx 16208 this is a bit costly i think in aus they cost a bit more
It did good, but surprised to see it's almost as dear as the MT10 (in some places)
The advert says 1/10, but I guess on the smaller side.
Looks like it could use the MT-10 wheels and tires for more grip and a bit of shock tuning for the big jumps.
Yes maybe 👌
hey Phil would love to see you review the mjx hyper go h16bm
You sir, get a like every time for Allen 😂
Haha
What a nice little truck, I love how clean & tidy it is inside.
Kit quality for sure
This is an old rc! I remember seeing this almost a decade ago
Haha, calibrated speed eyes. You do nail the speed more often than not. Great video Phil!
Yeah, and I genuinely never look first
Wow great truck 😊 happy Christmas dude. Pete
Happy Christmas Pete
Broke my differentials twice on mine already..
Very nice Bash 🤩😍and RC Car 😊
I want the one with the 70 el Camino body.
I do love me some HPI. Nice one today!
I feel blue balled by the lack of Allen! but I still love your videos so I can overlook it.
Haha
I really like the El Camino version
What is close to this car that I can get from china ?
Nice little car! I have HPI Nitros, thats the best "Nitro" RC's. Nice Channel, greetings from Germany ;-)
Thank you 🤘
That was fun. You must be knackered from making vids mate. It's odd but when I got back into the hobby I really didn't go in for the RTR Trucks, and it was mostly trucks and the odd buggy here and there. I had to ask where the Tamiya buggies were, or if they still had them. Funnily enough I still only have two HPI buggies. The tiny little 1/24(?) 2wd and the 5b, which isn't tiny.
This advent calendar has been awesome btw.
Dont ever tease me like that with allen😂
But I'm in your future, day 24 ????????
Got to love a savage iv got the xl and I love it 😅
How much is it the site wont open for me
I never seen an pinion having grease on it
This truck is awesome
yay!! I love mine. Gday from under down under!!
Gday mate
Can it reach 65mph ?
Great review. Would be great to see this vs. AE Rival MT10 and AE Reflex MT14. 3 great trucks across slightly different sizes.
Whoah.... I totally was not expecting that performance on the BMX track.!!!
Well done little Savage.!!👍 👍 👍
You too Phil.! 😉 😉
Those crashes are pretty much a guarantee every time you comment on how well an RC is driving. 😂 😂 😂
I'm curious to see a back to back 10 minute bash, one normal & one where you don't comment.!! 😂 😂 😂 😂
Hey... Maybe if you say it's driving terribly you'll get a 100% perfect run.?? 😉
Anyone else remember the HPI Super Nitro RS4? Always liked the HPI line. ✌️
longest video so far
Had one of those for about 7-8 years. Only ran it in 2s. Drive cups, slipper pads, and shock ends (think i fitted traxxas ones) were the only real
Issues. Regret selling it tbh, pound for pound great little trucks. Tempted to get another
Hi Phil great fun videos always enjoy watching your videos. you put a lot of effort into it. And your reviews are great. Nice hobby. I myself have RC planes, helicopters and of course also RC cars. Phil, I wish you lots of fun with your hobby and your TH-cam channel. Merry Christmas. 🖐😃🎅👍 🎁🎄🎊🚘🚙
I have MT10 Max10 120a esc and 3200kv motor on 15t pinon. I can't even hit full throttle. Maybe to much air getting under the v2 body. Getting some belted tyres for it see if that helps. Motor temps stayed super cool on the 15t.
That looked way more stable than I ever expected it to be, especially on that wet greasy looking road.!!
I really thought it would struggle to get the power down..
I've been waiting for you to do a review of this mate.!
Thanks.!! 👍 👍 👍
Stay safe out there, best wishes from Scotland & MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU & YOURS.. 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️
I have enjoyed your Christmas advent calendar. Time well spent ! Thank you for all these reviews 🙏 I am going to treat myself and get the micro crawler to play in the offi...ekhm home !😅
Merry Christmas and wish you a wonderful time with your family 🎄 🎄 🎄
If in doubt, Flat out!
