Thanks for posting this video because I looked up screaming squirrel on google because today I seen one in the same position making a similar sound on a telephone wire. I thought that maybe it was electrocuted or something. I have heard this noise before but always assumed the noise was coming from baby birds in nests awaiting to be fed.
Ok so I hear this sound in the inside of the walls of my attic/bedroom and I already knew that there were squirrels in my walls but now I'm pretty sure that one is pregnant...
That's just their distress call. Notice how it's looking right at you and trying to remain still? She sees a predator: a human. And if she were on the verge of giving birth, (she is obviously pregnant), she'd be back in the safety of the nest. If she gave birth in her current location, they babies would fall out of the tree and end up as tasty treats for pretty much any scavenger/carnivore/omnivore. Hope that helps.
Most animals will do everything they can to keep threats away from their nests/burrows, etc. Mother birds will try and lure predators away and squirrels also exhibit this behavior. And given that she was very close to giving birth, she was probably very apprehensive and wanted to make sure you didn't see her nest location.
lol i hear this sound so much at home right in the city. They do that for hours not moving. If they felt in danger they would move away. And a squirrel really high in a tree and about 30 m away don't see a human as a threat. (except if you're in an area where people shoots squirrels with guns...)
That looks like a very pregnant momma squirrel. It might be time for the babies to come. I had 3 of the cutest ones this year but unfortunately a wild cat got two of them. I was so sad.
Looks like she's carrying a litter of at least four babies. I've never seen pre-birth until now. Just babies afterwards. And I practically live in country territory.
I’ve always wondered how neurotic or mentally disabled some of these wild animals like squirrels or chipmunks are. They go on for too long and are obnoxiously loud, nothing is around but they do it to piss everyone off.
This is a mother squirrel. I saw this in my balcony several times. She scream and screams and scream to call for the young to come. Then they feed on the sunflower seeds in the yard and time to go home to sleep.
i didnt realize these were squirrel sounds until just today. i thought it was a bird call. i heard it today nearby, and looked up to see if i could get a glimpse of a bird. but to my surprise, no bird, only squirrel. watched it in shock just to confirm it wasn't a bird that just happened to be hidden. can't believe i went my entire life not knowing it was squirrels.
Yes, Everyone loves these cute little rodents until They get in Your attic and You can't get Them out, or They start gnawing on Your priceless 20 year old Japanese Maple Tree.
Squirrels eat song bird egg’s & hatchlings; close cousins to rats & urine mark openings to your home; squirrels also make any rat hole LARGER. Bc they have stronger teeth. Passing cars @ 4:20 &5:58 min are LOUDEST SOUND in vid.
I also always thought that these were bird sounds up until the point my Ring doorbell went off and I literally opened up my front door and I had a little Squirrel making this sound looking right at me (Basically knocking on my front door yelling at me) so I fed it some peanuts and now He/She comes back like everyday now. LMFAO!! 😂😂😂 I named it Nilla. Lol.
We have a pregnant mom, in the bottom crease of our tree...very pregnant (and way below her nest...she does trust us) ...yesterday she started to look like her breathing is labored...can't find out anywhere if this implies her labour is beginning...any ideas?
No, don’t worry she had not delivered yet, I have a squirrel and they don’t bulge like she does in the middle if their not preg, you can see it when she stretches out. ❤️❤️❤️ Bless your heart 😙
If your squirrel huntin get a ring pop make sure the candy gone off it then put it in your mouth long side up then pull air in your mouth the ring part and it sounds like the screech
You should treasure all life imagine being pregnant and having a threat there she is scared. plus what is shooting it going to do shut it up yes but it dosent help it or anyone else in any way kinda selfish. think about it hope you have a nice day and think about your choices sir. 😁
This is great! It's so powerful that if the squirrels in my back yard are getting annoying I just play this really loud and they shut up!
OMGOSH!!! Me too!!!😂♥️👍
Having to listen to this every night around 3am..... Priceless....
Gadjet87 thats me rn😂 its 3:39am
Bruh where do y'all live that these squirrels are acting up at 3am 😭😭

Look at how fat this squirrel is this leads me to believe that this squirrel is pregnant or something

I went out after hearing her screaming for a while. Not sure why she did not go back to her nest.

sometimes i had to throw rocks at them so they would leave and let me sleep
Is it a warning call?
I played this and the squirrel outside my window finally is quiet now.
You as re the reason it is "screaming".

longs and shorts, dots and dashes, squirrel morse code. a mother squirrel warning intruders away.
Video: for about a hour
Also video: 6 minutes 15 seconds
Yep, that's definitely the definition of an hour.
Movies also feature a lifetime story but only airs for an hour or so.. its nothing new dear..

I always thought these were birds...😑 guess the noises were from squirrels

Had to, um, get rid of one because of the first reason

This was 7 yrs ago ,i wonder if the furbaby is still alive. They are so cute😊❤❤❤❤
I would guess not. They don’t have a long shelf life in the wild, usually get hit by cars like raccoons.
Found this video because I’m looking at this exact same thing right now outside my apartment lol except the squirrel has a giant nest behind it
Thanks for this! It silenced the squirrel in my wall trying to chew his way through the wood!
There's a sqwirrel in my back yard that keeps screaming so I gave him a taste of his own medicine with this
That has happened last night. My dreams are that Puppy, who had babies, needs help moving them to another nest she had built over by my house!!
Aw she’s so tired

And then there's me. Desperately trying to get squirrels to approach me!
Have this waking me up at 5 in the morning
Music to my ears
We have a pregnant mom, in the bottom crease of our tree...very pregnant (and way below her nest...she does trust us) ...yesterday she started to look like her breathing is labored...can't find out anywhere if this implies her labour is beginning...any ideas?
I'm disappointed I thought this would last an hour.
Looks like labor is painful and arduous for all female mammals. Human women aren't alone in the curse. Wonder how male seahorse feel?
I don't really think the male seahorse goes through proper labor though. It's kinda just gets rid of them when they aren't in the eggs.
@@offbrand_2863 He has contractions so probably painful ❤️❤️❤️
@@auspiciouscloud8786 Does he kinda just looks like he's trying to take a shit ngl lol
That's a good camera!
That squirrel is sounding alarm to all animals that can hear , It's a warning call danger is close ,
She just had babies or in labor
a mother squirrel looks like she had lost her babies so crying for them, so sad
No, don’t worry she had not delivered yet, I have a squirrel and they don’t bulge like she does in the middle if their not preg, you can see it when she stretches out. ❤️❤️❤️ Bless your heart 😙
She is in labor!
Just had 1 my backyard squirrels do this lol exact same thing.. real high on a branch in tree making this sound.. interesting
