      You can start with the bump stops. I don’t think there is anything other than springs that would cause it. Even with the new stops, my sport lines are so low that I still bottom out on big bumps. I just don’t want to swap springs lol.

      Most likely. It’s a common failure and not checked out a lot.

      Most of the time it is the sway bar bushing when there is clunking in rear if car hasn't been lowered.

      I have about 88k on there. I believe the previous owner put the springs in around 20k. I got it with 32k and he said he had to cut the factory ones in half because they were so stiff they didn’t allow the trace needed. The new ones have about a paper size gap lol.

  • @sweetbrandigirl

    Did this fix the clunk ? I have a rear clunk not sure where its coming from I suspect its the bolt in the Upper rear Control arm. I had it replaced and I think the guy used the new bolt instead of the old one which had a step washer on it. Now the Bolt is loose inside the metal sleeve of the rubber bushing on the rear end housing. Although it could be the same as yours.

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It fixed it to an extent. My springs ride to low so the axel still bounces off the brake mounts. If there are any loose bolts you will have noises.

    • @sweetbrandigirl
      @sweetbrandigirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Foxbodys4life Yeah I guess I didn't explain the whole bolt thing very well. On my old upper read control arm the bolt fit into the bushing shelve tightly. in the new one it doesn't even though its tight when I hit a bump I suspect its hitting the bushing sleeve and making a clunking noise. I'm going to replace the bump stop just to see if it helps.

      @@Foxbodys4life Thanks but my entire suspension has been replaced. Rear LCA Ford performance, Rear sway bar Ford performance, and link, Koni Yellow shocks, Ford performance lowering springs. The only part I haven't upgraded or replaced is the pan hard bar that's why I'm so disappointed that I'm chasing a clunk. I mean when I got this car the entire suspension was shot and this thing rode like a stage coach.. Now its still rides ruff when going over bumps which most likely has something to do with adjusting my shocks which I'm no good at. Then there's the annoying clunk when going over bumps. Grrrrr

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sweetbrandigirl I have Koni yellows and they are are just stiff. Definitely not built for comfort. The pan hard just centers the axel. I have full BMR in the rear. My control arms have a zert fitting for grease, they are tight and only squeak when they get dry. If you have FR parts than the factory bolts should not be loose fitting. I’d suspect that your most likely bottoming out on the axel somewhere. Look at the stops, if they are gone then that’s the issue. The FR springs don’t ride as low as the sport lines I have so the FR stops should work better. But I’d look into a pan hard as soon as possible, it’s a must on the sn197 cars when lowering.

    didnthe clunking sound like it was in the back seat ? also was it on accelerating also ? aside from the bumps

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sound resonates through the entire back. I’m so low that my break line bracket still bottoms out on hard bumps. I’m actually riding on the bump all the time, I don’t know that I had it when accelerating because my exhaust is pretty loud. I did have a clunk sound in the past that sounded like it was in the seat area it it ended up being the exhaust bouncing off the floor above the axle. I just reseated it and tighten it all back up.

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a rattle that drove me crazy. I took out all the panels in the back, tightened the rear speakers and cover and spent several hours crawling around under the rear. Turned out that my axel backs had loosened up just enough that they were hitting my axels. Just slid them back and tightened up the clamps with my impact. Nothing since.

    Hey man. Can I email you a pic of mine and you see what you think? I’ve recently noticed a clunking sound when I take off in first and 2nd. Did you notice it then too? I really haven’t paid attn to see if it’s doing the same clunk over bumps. Also, do you have a video of the noise or go pro video of it happening?? Id appreciate any help.

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have a video of the sound, but it was a metal to metal hammering sound. Mine was more noticeable when I would hit bumps. If it’s a sound under acceleration check your bushing in your control arms and also check your exhaust where it goes over the axel. I had mine come loose and slide back about an inch, that was allowing it to bounce off the subframe above the axel. Find my holster Facebook page and you can send pictures over there. Tactical Leprechaun on Facebook or you can find links to it at my blog page www.tlholsters.com.

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @American_Devil depending on how low you are it can help. I’m on sport lines and I still have a clunk on big bumps on the highway, it’s my caliper making contact with the pan hard bracket on one side. I’ve adjusted the pan hard and everything is centered but still every once in awhile I will hear it. Before it was every bump so it did help a lot.

    • @American_Devil
      @American_Devil 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Foxbodys4life I only hear it on the back right oddly. I changed the rear sway bar end links and that did nothing. Ordered the same kit right after watching the video. I have ford performance springs so they’re not as aggressive as the sportlines

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @American_Devil check your caliper for a wear mark. The right rear is the side that I still get the contact. But those bump stops do a good job at keeping it in check.

    That's not a fix. All you did was temporarily quiet down the problem.
    *That suspension should not be collapsing like that* (unless you are playing Dukes of Hazzard and jumping your car like they do the General. LoL.
    *Get rid of those coils and put some stronger ones in* a beefier set will help a lot.
    Good Luck

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are a quality set 🤷‍♂️, I don’t drive it enough to justify putting a taller/stiffer spring in right now. The previous owner set the car up for auto cross and it handles fine, if you like the low life life you have consequences to dea with lol.

    • @ironguy1
      @ironguy1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He took a worn out, broken part and replaced it with new. It is no longer hitting metal on metal.
      Any lowered S197 is going to rub those bump stops, even with beefier stronger springs. My Shelby GT is lowered 1 1/2” by Shelby with FRPP springs and it definitely makes contact act with bumps and cracks in the road at slower speeds. I ordered a set of these yellow FRPP jounce stops to replace the original black ones. They are supposed to be a little softer, I’m hoping it eases it up a bit.

    • @Foxbodys4life
      @Foxbodys4life  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only did it when driving and hitting bumps in the road. Mine actually still does it it’s just not ruff. The sport line springs ride to low buy about 1 inch. The car actually just about rides on the bump stops. One day I will swap out to a slightly taller spring.
