If I remember correctly the funeral shroud is for Odysseus' father, who although he's still alive is quite old and since his wife and son are dead, once Penelope remarries she will no longer be considered part of his family so he won't have anyone to make him one. So in the Odyssey she basically says he deserves to have a shroud so she'll weave him one before she remarys
I would adore a rewatch with the live stream from the Ithaca Saga! The animations are all canon and the crew is having a blast the whole time. Highly recommend if you are willing to do another stream on it. :)
So I also associate some of Antinuous' phrases like " I will not let any part go to waste" and "Channel the fire inside your soul" with one of Ody's phrases from Mutiny "I am not letting you get in my way." Antinuous is plotting a coup but I think Jay was also telling us what was going to happen to Antinuous.
You easily have the best reaction and analysis of this musical I’ve seen! It’s so insightful and interesting, especially to hear about the more technical musical components that I’m less familiar with. Thank you so much! I’d love to see more music/musical reactions sometime (Hadestown etc). Such a joy to watch all 8 hrs of this one haha!
IMO - Odysseus' apology in ruthlessness is meant to be seen through a modern perspective. Eurylochus gives a direct, modern appropriate apology in Scylla that feels honest. Which means modern apology rules definitely work in Epic. I'm in the camp that Poseidon was going to kill the fleet no matter what Odysseus said - but in this canon Odysseus did not give a good apology
The thing I love in… *Spoilers for Ithaca Saga Song 3* …Odysseus is that they go from saying “old king our leader is dead” showing that they don’t respect him or hold him as their king anymore and then as soon as he starts thinning their ranks and they reach the armory and see Telemachus they start referring to Ody as king again, “after seeing what the king will do to us we wouldn’t dare” showing that the suitors know there will be no stoping him from retaking his family and throne.
I love the amount of emotion you show and your appreciation of the musical because it really shows your not just reacting like others your actually watching and feeling the music and hearing all the little changes in the songs
To this day, I maintain that sharkieepuff's The Challenge Animatic IS the definitive one, so I'm glad you watched it. Great reaction all around 57:39 holy shit, I never noticed that also, someone should make 1:41:22 a soundbite, lol. And how did you figure out that viola was the same note as Odysseus's "NO!"? That's crazy and 1:09:20 HA 1:23:56 Oof 1:40:43
I've been waiting for this all week! Excited to see how you react to the final saga 🎉 EDIT: I thought you would be watching the official watch party lol :') but at least you did for the last song.
If you watch the livestream at least for the last 2 songs the emotion the cast show is beautiful. Mico (Telemachus) during I Can’t Help But Wonder being comforted by Jorge and Luke (Zeus), and then during the last song Earle (Ares) being comforted by Troy (Hermes) plus Mason and KJ (Tireseus and Scylla) in tears….
Oh wow I caught this right as it came out. I caught a lot of the stuff on my listens but I always appreciate when you point stuff out that I’ve never seen anyone else notice, you really make me appreciate epic even more than I already did. Thank you so much ❤
You NEEEEED to see the official livestream version of this saga 😭
The canon Ithaca animatics add a lot of context.

"Jorge can you not please""
That had me laughing😂
The amount of times you called Jorge a bitch 😂😂

I hadn't noticed this musical echo, thanks!

I literally JUST finished bingeing your reactions to the first 2 sagas not even 1 hour ago and then you go ahead and release this haha THANKYOU!!

And how does Ody greet his son and wife? (His world). With open arms!

Yay, its up! First Live Stream I ever caught, so glad I could be there for it!
Have you thought of doing the cut songs?
yey!
Fun fact Odysseus was like 40ish at the start of the trojan war so he's like 60 (this isn't really relevant i just think its kind of funny)
I thought he was mid 20s when he left for the Trojan war. Not 40ish
