I like the blue sona but it doesn't top the sm7b which wins in looks and sound, I'm not a fan of the look of the sona but I'm impressed with the sound of the mic
Hi Pete, I like the Blue simply because if noise levels but mostly because of NOT needing an Amp. On voice I picked up demo on my phone and I would confess no difference until the Sure amp was turned off. For me It would be the Blue on this aspect. Good price too . Think I will try this one. How does it connect. USB to computer or otherwise. Would be helpful to know this bit on a demo. For instance can it be connected to iPad using a ' Y' splitter . Be interesting to know a bit more on tech details on this demo. But I like the sound of this one Pete. Iris at Radio TCR
As an SM7B owner, I'd be concerned about what kind of artifacts you're getting with an amp built right in the mic :/ Does Logitech even have a gain knob on that thing? Also, it didn't really filter out your "Plosives." The Shure is just bassier so it seems more prominent. The Logitech might still give you an annoying presence of "P" sounds on a recording. Did you roll off the low end on the Shure before you made these recordings? I got my SM7B for around $250 used, so the price difference of the 2 mics ain't that impressive. Shure holds up after over a decade. Wonder how the other one would last given enough use?
Owning the Sona, the ClearAmp is not introducing any noise whatsoever. Because it’s an XLR microphone there is no built-in gain control that isn’t already handled by the interface you’re using. Basically it boils down to, if you don’t already have an interface that can power the SM7B with a higher gain ceiling, the Sona is the better purchase out of sheer virtue that its ClearAmp can allow it to be powered by any interface without the need for an additional amp.
For me, not having to use a Cloudlifter It's already a step ahead of the Shure SM7B.
Amazing video by the way!
I use the soyuz and the character it imparts to the sm7b is absolute insanity, really boosts it with a little grit and flavor, absolute deadly combo
Get en SSL 2... You dont need an Fethead and the Intercace is good
I have the sona and I like it alot more then the sm7b ngl
Where and how can I get a background wall paper like that?

Not needing a mic lifter and the EQ pre-sets are massive steps in the right direction though.
Did he just say Blue SonJa?
blue soña
Great video Pete!
The shure is Much better, I use Shure since I was 14 till now (almost 44) The sm58, beta58 en now on my radio show the sm7b!
thanks🤩
You're welcome 😊
why tf he be calling it the "blue sonya" LMFAO
It's weird. I really don't like the sound of the Blue Sona. It sounds like it has far less fidelity/quality than the SM7B.
I think pir ears are trained to bassy voices, so the shure will always win and be sold more than the hifh fidelity sound Sona
I love Shure

Sonja?
The Blue Sonja?
Pronounce sona correctly. And blue wins.
believe it or not some words are pronounced multiple ways depending on your regional dialect
👏👏👏
Blue Sona has anuch clearer sound. I find the Sm7b is too boomy. I think people value boom far too much and sacrifice quality.
@7:14 & 7:25 "Peas" and "Penultimate" - no real difference in the levels of your plosives.
i like a bit of plosives on my microphone im not going to lie
So for Voice overs and voice recordings, someone who does not play an instrument...and propably buys a 150-ish amp? ^^
It's clear the SM7B is still the reigning champ. insane considering how old this mic is, often imitated never duplicated. SM7B!
Also be careful with fakes shure sm7b, there's a lot, since it's old in the market. Obvio depends on where you are buying!
It seems like the fakes do not have the UK/CA print on their labels, which helps to know easier.
