      this microphone has now been rebranded or upgraded as the logitech g yeti studio microphone, while the specs are about the same, there is a decibel difference between both mics . would you be interested in reviewing the newer version?

      PiXimperfect's channel is, as far as I know, the highest subscribed English Language channel run by an Indian out of India. He is making us Indians proud 🌝 !
      Meanwhile, kudos to Bandrew as well. You are perhaps the only youtuber, alongside Curtis Judd, that I trust in terms of Audio Reviews, and I like yours more anyday. My only request to you would be not to do any sponsored videos, e.g. like the one you did for RodeCaster Pro 2. That device came with bugs galore, and the internet was full of people complaining about some issue or the other, to the extent that the launch was called a disaster of sorts by some. I myself received 2 defective units - the original as well as the replacement, both. Had to finally ask for a refund. Your review didn't throw any light on users reporting so many issues. This was also the case with the Elgato Wave XLR, for which you again did a sponsored video, but the device had issues, reporter bt many. I experienced this myself as well. Doing sponsored videos for products that are being criticised by multiple users for quality issues makes your credibility take a hit. So please don't do any sponsored audio equipment reviews, cause then the neutrality isn't there anymore. Have sponsors from other segments instead, which you don't review on the channel. That's my humble request.
      Also, if possible, please try and review the Sanken CU-41 mic , as well as the Elgato Wave DX dynamic mic that has just come out. Following are the links to both of them :-

  • @Dracomies
    @Dracomies ปีที่แล้ว +25

    Yeah agree 100%. The price is in steep competition. SM7B, RE20 and now the Ethos makes this a tough acquisition. But at $200-$250 it would disrupt the market. The sound samples I heard everywhere are pretty dang good imo. I am very pleasantly surprised. But it's just not enough for me to buy it when I can get the Ethos or SM7B.

    • @CocaineCobain
      @CocaineCobain ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue with the Ethos and SM7B are the price increase when accounting for something like a fethead/cloudlifter. This microphone put up against the SM7B right out of the box seems to be a great option and honestly picking it over the SM7B (currently the king microphone amongst streamers) makes a lot of sense.

    • @Dracomies
      @Dracomies ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CocaineCobain I'd say the statement would be true if we were referring to interfaces that were older. But these days an interface like the SSL2, MOTU M2, ID4 Mark 2 and even cheaper models like the Elgato Wave makes this less of a non-issue. But yes, if you have an older interface, ie Scarlet Solo Gen 1 then for sure. But interfaces these days can handle an SM7B quite well imo. It's case by case I think. That being said, if I had to choose between the two they both sound fantastic.

Of course, this is only for those that don't like to kiss their mic 24/7. lol

I cannot for the life of me get something that doesn't sound "dusty" without the use of very aggressive multiband compressors, and then it starts to sound really harsh. I typically think most mics >$100 sound ok when you test them, but I didn't like this one very much at all. Sounds like it needs a lot of eq reduction in the low end, and the rolloff when the high pass filter is turned on is a bit too aggressive and makes it sound thin. I also didn't like how it responded with the proximity effect test. Granted everyone's voice and preferences are different, but I thought the Dynacaster and SM7b sounded way better. I think I'd even rather use the V7 or SM58 based on this test. Also surprised the market can seemingly support yet another $300-$400 dynamic microphone.

    Sounds good for the price. I prefer the shure SM7B and MV7 myself but the Blue Sona is right where it needs to be quality wise for the price. I was hoping that you would do a comparison with the Samsung Q9U.

      Yeah same here. I got the q9u for $120 which I think is an extremely fair price, but the sm7b is still enticing even tho I don’t need it. Saw this came out near the range and would’ve liked to see the comparison

    If you have a low or mid range deep voice, then the Blue Sona with some EQ settings on an editing software make my voice sound great. It took me forever to find the right mic but this one took the cake. It makes my deep voice sound good.

      So guys THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS THE BLUE SONA: HERE IS AN OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM A CUSTOMER SEVICE REP AT LOGITECH:
      This is Kylene from the Logitech Gaming Team, and I'm here to help you. I am sorry to hear about your Blue Sona. I’d like to provide some clarity regarding your question about the differences between the Blue Sona and the Yeti Studio microphones.
      While both microphones share a similar physical appearance and dimensions, they do have some technical differences. Here’s a quick comparison:
      Shared Specifications:
      Capsule Type: Dynamic
      Polar Pattern: Supercardioid
      Frequency Response: 40Hz-18kHz
      Max SPL: 129 dBSPL @ 1% THD, 138 dBSPL @ 5% THD
      Power Requirement: +24V or +48V phantom power required
      Differences:
      Sensitivity
      Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
      Signal-to-Noise Ratio
      When it comes to overall performance and ease of use, the Yeti G Studio stands out as a more convenient option. I encourage you to check out the detailed specifications to see which microphone aligns best with your needs:

    In light of low expectations, I have to admit this thing is exceptionally good. Excellent plosive rejection, very good shock rejection, a good -if stylized- sound. I would not buy it under any circumstances for two reasons: 1. I have no use for it. 2. It’s fugly.

    The biggest problem with this microphone is that it's unusable for videos where the microphone appears because its white color will make it overexpose if you want the rest of the scene to be properly exposed. Even in this video you can see that and how out of place it is.

    Awesome review. I was thinking about picking up the blue Sona for spoken word, I currently have an SM7B and an RE20 but after hearing your review, I am going to pass on this Logitech mic. Honestly all the mics in the $100 range competes with the Blue Sona, sure it has a built in preamp but at that price point it's honestly not worth it. Also totally agree that the EQs are not usable; sharp, unnatural and unpleasant to listen to when enabled

    No one else mentioned it, but a lot of these dynamic broadcast mics tend to be low-mid heavy, killing their clarity and making them sound muffled without doing some sort of EQ or using the switching on the mic if it has it. IMO the SM-7b, this new Blue Sona, the Aston Stealth, and the Audio Technica AT-2040, mics, are some of the worst offenders, but the ART D7 mic is utter garbage because of it. These newer mics really have me impressed, especially the offerings from brands like Zoom, Rode, Elgato, and the new Shure MV7/MV7X, in regards to overall sound and clarity. My favorite old standard broadcast mics are the Ev RE320/RE20 mics. That said, this new mic sounds amazing on the guitar, both electric and acoustic. The lifeless/flat sound works great for pairing with a condenser for an overall sound that has a more mid-forward cut in a mix.
