    • @shoshKid
      @shoshKid 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes! it’s Barcadi. the original name of the genre is Barcadi. they stole it and gave it a different name, Amapiano, but let them have it. it’s fashion to them, to us it’s a lifestyle

    • @shoshKid
      @shoshKid 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Tshidiso Edward Mahlatsi The first Barcadi (“Amapiano”) came out in 2001, from Mamelodi. it’s was called Barcadi. then a sub-genre grew from it and it was called “rekere/nkwari”. artists like Mujava, Kapakapa etc, were the pioneers. if you remember the drama series, “Zone 14”, the sound-track they played when drama was finishing at the end, that track was by Mujava, it’s a Barcadi/Amapiano.
      in the middle if all that, hit tracks emerged, like Moghwanthi wa Pitoti, Tshwara-nyana, and “ake saaa ya ko ne keya ko teng! ke jikiiile ko ne ke ya ko teng maa! pheli (attiridgeville) di’a booowa ko di tenteng!” etc. that time your side, Jozi, was still listening to kwaito, and that was the only thing you knew. but let’s move on...
      we had hits that we were trending only in PTA, and I’m talking way back in 2005/06/07...until now.
      people from other cities used to frown at us for this music, khante in the meantime it’s hitting home. Then boys from Jozi, like your vooslo, stole the sound and changed the name to Amapiano to make it look like it’s them who came with it. no, this thing started in 2001, and i can even send you the first track (but i won’t because you might give it to your boys to remix it and claim it’s from Jozi). actually it was four of them, the first Barcadis, from Mamelodi.
      we can exchange numbers and i’ll show you a folders that i have of about 20GB of barcardi/Amapiono, dating from as early as 2001, strictly PTA brewed.
      So don’t confuse and convince yourself, “Amapiono” started in PTA, it’s not even an argument. and remember, then original name is BARCARDI. anything other than that is plagiarism, period.

      I would not simply deem AmaPiano just recycled Kwaito and Deep House. It is definately derivative of these genres but not exactly a reworked version of them. Saying this is the same as calling Gqom revamped Spazza House. You strip away the innovation that artists bring forth by calling their work a new something as though everything in life is not a new version of something else.
