It went all the way to the European courts and McDonalds lost subsequently losing their exclusive rights of the word “Mac” in Europe 😂 Burger King got in on the joke afterwards and start selling “WhopperMacs” for a while
Kudos to them for taking on a corporate behemoth and winning - not may would do that. Just the chance of losing and the associated legal costs around that would be enough to scare most.

The chicken tenders and taco chips are very nice. I much prefer supermacs over mcdonald's but mcdonald's are more consistent. Supermacs can be really good or really bad depending on which one you go to. Enjoying your irish trip buddy 🇮🇪👍
I worked for Supermacs back in the 90's in my hometown of Navan when it first opened. We had to be so diligent in food prep, customer service & cleanliness. The entire restaurant was deep cleaned each night after the last customer left! It was hard work & the food was always really good, nicer than Mcdonalds & Burger King imo! Even got to flip burgers with the founder & owner of the chain Pat McDonagh who was really nice to us all!
The actual eating area looks nice and clean. Good light from the window there. The chicken portion looked quite good. I agree regarding the raw onion on the burger. I think I would have removed it too. Three and three quarters is a fair rating. The river looks lovely and hope your time there was good. 👍
I used to sit at that table back when I was 17 and it was a Burger King drinking free refills on a Saturday 😅 my Mother used to work over your left shoulder there. It's been about 5 years since I've had a Supermac's. I've to go to Galway in about 2 weeks for a bit of work (home of Supermac's) and I'm definitely gonna have one now. Lunch sorted.
I've only been there once and got they're hot sub with Chipotle sauce. Really satisfying Greeno mate. Hope you go and enjoy. Seen you were in a vid in an India restaurant with another blogger, bad with names. The curry didn't appeal to your friend but you luvd it😅😅😅😅. No but jalapeños were in my supersub with Chipotle sauce. Really satisfying. Moneygall, co.offally. If you are there, then I hope you enjoy mate.

Thank you Greeno, looked ok, would have loved the chicken more!! I never touch any drinks that don't have real sugar in as I can taste the difference and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. 🤗🤗👍👍
The chicken was good, I liked the pepperiness of it. I quite like most low cal drinks - my favourite is the caffeine free diet coke, not because of what it is, just like the taste best!
supermacs do a snack box / lunch box very good fried chicken too, supermacs is an institution which we all grew up with, the food is good quality in fairness
Harriet and I tend to think that Dublin is expensive. We tend to go cheap when we go out to eat. If you had a choice between FiveGuys and Supermac's . What would you choose? Thank you for the food tour Greeno 👍 Jim and Harriet
Dublin is certainly not a cheap place to eat, granted. Given the choice betweek Supermac's and Five Guys, then for taste I would pick the latter, but it would be more expensive. I think the fairer comparison is with Burger King, as I think that's where the price point is... I'd probably pick the double Whopper, but I would have the Supermac's chicken burger!!
@@GreenoEats It is an Irish company but not the favourite or best fast food chain, funnily enough, I agreed with you 100% on your take. Average chips, better than average bun for fast food and really good chicken. The burgers are okay too, nothing to write home about. 7/10, to maybe 7.5, if we are talking just fast food.
Supermacs is definitely a "does what it says on the tin" joint. Its decent if your in a rush and on the move. Always have found meat quality of their burgers better than the larger multinationals like BK and McDonald's.
Never had a supermac's before, think theres one in belfast il have to give it a go after seeing your review, i always thought it was probably a poor mans mcdonalds but good stuff another place to check out!
Not sure yet - if I can I will probably fly into Dublin, maybe do a couple of reviews there, but head west toward Limerick, or south toward Cork... in the meantime I am thinking of a quick trip to Belfast first :-)
@GreenoEats Hope you will visit the town i am in By the sound of things you're going to be close enough Either way best of luck and be sure to have a few more Guinness ☘️🤗
The fries are not great, but when they are loaded as Taco fries they come alive. I find the beef patties tasteless, so i always had the chicken burger, which is very tasty
Hi there! I'm glad you think so, I was impressed with it. A number of Dublin folk in the comments section of this video don't seem to agree though haha!
I think the burgers looked really good for the price. KFC is just a poor rendition of Southern Fried Chicken which is an old very famous dish in Louisiana, Mississippi and Kentucky.
I think in a battle of the burgers, Supermac would beat McDs hands down and might also knock out KFC too. Good portion sizes and you had a pair of decent looking baps ! I would give my eye teeth for those again since age withers !
Oh by the way Greeno did you try the McCrispy deluxe limited time only burger from McDonald's? They have it in ireland. I had it last night. Pretty good. 3 and 3 quarters outta 5 for me.
That looke better than MD’s. The bacon at MD’s is not worth having, might as well have a piece of vaguely flavoured tissue paper in the burger. Stopped going there years ago. I would give that one a go though. Bit dear but not too bad. Many thanks Greeno.😊
That's fair enough but in my town when they opened it was like a McDonald's or Burger King coming in. But the older you get the worse it taste. You are right about fries my friend. Come to Nenagh in Co.Tipperary, can be really soggy or really crisp. No consistency. I had a supersub that supermac own in moneygall and it was really nice. Better than subway.
The old school Smokey Bacon Burger is much better than the fancier 5oz bacon burger IMO. It's more Big Mac in style but kicks the McD's version into touch. The burger sauce stops it from being as dry. The chips can be a bit tasteless you want to go with curry chips. They have taco chips which aren't good recommend going to Abrakebabra for those instead. Of course the Dublin branches of Supermacs and Abrakebabra aren't necessarily that great might have better luck down the country. For chicken you want to go to Hillbilly's, another Irish chain. Chicken Hut in Limerick is probably the standout down and dirty budget chicken shop. It was a KFC originally and maintains the classic 1970's formula gravy that is to die for.
HI Greeno Enjoyed this review to me they just seem the same as the others . Yes have been to 5 Guys found there fries very poor best thing was the shakes and to they are expensive. So mark for Supermac's 4/5
Five Guys are expensive, that's true. It's all a matter of personal taste of course, as I think their fries are just about the best in all of the fast food chains :-)
Hi Greeno. I had a lovely long weekend in Dublin about 10 years ago and had a fabulous 3 days there. The people were so welcoming. I also had a hotel on O'Connell Street. I can't recommend anything foodwise as it was a Guinness-fest so it started with an Irish brekkie in the hotel and I can remember ending with an Abrakebabra...one of the nights. Id recommend that you have a pint in the church. Beautiful setting
Hey, no ideea there is a Supermacs somewhere out there...quite expensive if you ask me but would be nice to try....maybe we will colaborate in the future...keep it up good videos😀

Never had a supermac's before, think theres one in belfast il have to give it a go after seeing your review, i always thought it was probably a poor mans mcdonalds but good stuff another place to check out!
It's a slightly better off man's McDonalds :-)
What’s the differ between “fries” and “chips”?
That my friend is a question that I seem unable to answer to the satisfaction of my comments section!!
@ thanks for your honesty! Lol. Hope you’re well!
@@andrewriggs9808 all good here thanks! Hope the same with you!!
Hello Greeno what part of Ireland are you coming to next time🤗🍀
Not sure yet - if I can I will probably fly into Dublin, maybe do a couple of reviews there, but head west toward Limerick, or south toward Cork... in the meantime I am thinking of a quick trip to Belfast first :-)
@GreenoEats Hope you will visit the town i am in
By the sound of things you're going to be close enough
Either way best of luck and be sure to have a few more Guinness ☘️🤗
The fries are not great, but when they are loaded as Taco fries they come alive. I find the beef patties tasteless, so i always had the chicken burger, which is very tasty
Yeah the chicken burger was the highlight I reckon
I'm from Ireland and all the irish agree that supermacs is the best
Hi there! I'm glad you think so, I was impressed with it. A number of Dublin folk in the comments section of this video don't seem to agree though haha!
What hotel did you stay at ?
Premier Inn Temple Bar (which apparently isn't in Temple Bar!)
I love places like this. Five Guys is my favourite though ❤
Yep, Five Guys is a good, if somewhat expensive, option!
Love a Supermacs chicken burger. Fresh not frozen aswell 😋
I did really enjoy that chicken burger!
I think the burgers looked really good for the price. KFC is just a poor rendition of Southern Fried Chicken which is an old very famous dish in Louisiana, Mississippi and Kentucky.
Yes, I think the burgers were decent - the chicken being the better of the two
Should have also reviewed Five Guys only 1KM walk away
I can review Five Guys within a 30 min drive of my house, but tha tis about my closest branch of Supermacs :-)
I think in a battle of the burgers, Supermac would beat McDs hands down and might also knock out KFC too. Good portion sizes and you had a pair of decent looking baps ! I would give my eye teeth for those again since age withers !
Haha!!
Is Eddie Rockets still there?
Yep, I did walk past Eddie Rockets on my travels !
Oh by the way Greeno did you try the McCrispy deluxe limited time only burger from McDonald's? They have it in ireland. I had it last night. Pretty good. 3 and 3 quarters outta 5 for me.
I've had it before, although never reviewed it. It's not bad as you say!
That looke better than MD’s.
The bacon at MD’s is not worth having, might as well have a piece of vaguely flavoured tissue paper in the burger. Stopped going there years ago.
I would give that one a go though. Bit dear but not too bad.
Many thanks Greeno.😊
Yes, a definite step up from McD - glad you enjoyed the video !
Supermacs have the papa johns franchise for Ireland. Supermacs is the country folks favourite fast food place
Ah ok, so it just has to have a presence in Dublin, even though the locals turn their noses up a bit at it?
@@GreenoEats it also tends to be better outside Dublin too. It sounds stupid, but it's true.
Supersub huh - that might be worth me looking up!
Would like to see more of Belfast.
Thank you.x❤.
I am planning to get to Belfast at some point too Ann :-)
If you’re still in Dublin, I’m still on O’Connell Street go to beshoff’s the best fish and chips around
I'm not in Ireland now, but already thinking about my next trip, so I will check it out, thanks for the tip!
Please Don’t do beshoffs. The fish is the worse sloppy batter in the world. Ask Gary eats about it. O god it’s awful stuff. From a local Dubliner
I loved the Boxty house where they do their famous Boxty.
That's on my list as a possible place for my next trip!
Thanks, some really good tips for me to look into there!!
Have you had a new tattoo? Never noticed the one on your right arm before? Love the videos, thanks
Yep, the one on the right arm is new 🙂 Thanks for the kind words!!
Don't forget The Post Office mate, scene of the Easter uprising in 1913
GPO 1916 even.
Is the the Old Post Office restaurant you mean?
@@GreenoEatsThere is a cafe on site in the GPO. I have not been but reports look good. I should check it out sometime. Cheers Greeno.
@martinmcdonald4207 Sorry mate yes apologise
Sounds like a cracking weekend you had! No need for food, Guinness is a meal in itself
The Church is a great venue 👍
I am definitely up for a trip to Ireland next Spring… 😉
It's an option right!
@ Definitely! Proper Ireland though. Avoid the tourist traps…
@@GreenoEats Absolutely! By the way, just heard you on You and Yours....!!
@ big time now Tim 🤣
@@GreenoEats Yeah, Rate My Takeaway who?!!
Pat McDonagh must own the rights to Papa John's in Ireland and franchises them out, exactly like Supermac's 👍
I believe that may well be the case.
Hey, no ideea there is a Supermacs somewhere out there...quite expensive if you ask me but would be nice to try....maybe we will colaborate in the future...keep it up good videos😀
Supermacs is Ireland only I think
