- I make a Custom Rebar Hammer and weld a Steel Wedge into the Handle to give it the rustic tough look. It is quite heavy as it weighs 6.3 KG (13.9 Pounds) The total length of the rebar hammer is 420mm (16.5 inches) a nice MIG welding project.
I wanted to make something out of rebar that would catch your eye and maybe be one of those rustic art projects that everyone wants to touch, time will tell if it is good enough but I am very happy with it, and it is easily one of my best metal art projects.
The total length of the rebar hammer is 420mm (16.5 inches)

I really like how you think "outside the box". And you make us think , how did he do that? And then you show us how with skill.
I have an idea for you. Take three pieces of rebar and make a outside trivet ( like for camping) held together by knots. I've been working on it in my head and I can't come up with a good design. But I know you have the skills to do it.
Keep up the entertaining work.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment. You have an interesting idea, I have made a note of it and will have a think, thank you very much.
@@GavinClarkdiy I like this one too, it's about the right season for one to be made too!
Always enjoy your videos Gavin , the handle wrap and the wedge sure do finish it off nicely.
Thank you
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it.
This man loves Rebar
I do love working with it as it has a good texture compared to flat steel.
The Mighty Thor would be proud! 👍 😎
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
Beautiful work! My days of swinging a 14 pound sledge hammer are long past, but that one would sure do the trick!
Thank you very much. My days of swinging them are just about over too, thank you for your comment Tom.

Very good job👍
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it.
Gavin should give a TED talk on how to use a grinder. Masterful.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
This is a silly "because I can" project and I love it.
Thank you very much.
You are a brilliant artist with welding and blacksmith skills. The job was professionaly presented and very educatonal. A true Aussie.
Thank you very much 4 Winds TV, I appreciate your comment.

@@horacionoguera3400 Muchas gracias.
NOT a true Aussie - those people are the Aborigines.
Great job
It is impressive the way you handle the angle grinder. You always make a perfect cut. No variations.
Great precaution.
I love your workmanship
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
Thor called and said it looks like you are worthy, my friend 😉
Regards, Doc from South Australia.
Hahaha, I am glad he approves, he is the main man. Cheers! Doc, I am NSW

You sir, are an artist
Good warhammer needs a name.
I agree
Mais um grande trabalho!!! Vc não tem limites. Parabéns.
Muito obrigado, fico feliz que tenha gostado.
Great job there Gavin, now for Hammer time..
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. I will not be hitting anything with it for a while anyway, well that's the plan.
Nice job mate. It will be nice to see you using it. To make other things.
This hammer was made as a display item, and I doubt that it will get used, and with a steel handle like it has it would be very hard to use, as it would be tough on your arms with each hit. Thank you for your comment.
@@GavinClarkdiy oh well. It will look good as a display piece.
There obviously a Viking in you somewhere! You’ve recreated Miolnir! Gavin Thor Clark! Great work, love the attention to detail! Hit something with it, show us the destruction!
Thank you very much, I appreciate your lovely comment. I will not be hitting anything with it for a while anyway, well that's the plan.
Yeah, at least watermelon
Muito lindo, um excelente trabalho👏👏👏👏
Muito obrigado, fico feliz que tenha gostado.
Good to see you back mate 💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you very much Coggsy, I have had a few other things on.

best part was seeing you smile while holding it at the end, its really awesome great job
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
Another morning lost staring into rebar world! So entertaining!
Hahaha, Cheers! I love this stuff.
Wow! Now THAT’s a hammer! Awesome fit for the twisted rebar
Thank you very much.
Lovely for your sharing 😍🤛🤛💪💪👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for visiting
So awesome! always a joy to watch you work! thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
One things for sure Gavin. You’ll have no problems driving the tent stakes on your next camping trip! Ha! When I first saw wedge, I was curious how you cut it. I would have never thought of using a channel iron flange! You really think “outside the bar”! Thanks for the effort you put into this channel! Always good stuff!
Thank you very much Tom, I appreciate your comment.
Hi Gavin,
Love it too! Very cool. Using that would build up some forearms! Thanks for the video!

Thank you very much Mike, I am happy that you liked it. I agree I would not want to be swing that for too long.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
Now that’s a mallet! Beautiful execution too. Nice job.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
Your Creations are Amazing. However this Hammer is absolutely the best. I’m going to try and make one for my Son for his Birthday.
Thank you very much David, I am glad you liked it and I am sure your son will love yours, I wish you the best for your project. This hammer was made as a display item, and I doubt that it will get used, and with a steel handle like it has it would be very hard to use, as it would be tough on your arms with each hit.
You used a phrase that I like to use, you said, “I’ll make.” Great job of making something very cool out of mundane materials.
I say that often, or, I will have a play, Cheers Rudy
@@GavinClarkdiy Yes same here. I am a wood worker and I make a lot of different things but mainly furniture and electric guitars.
Really cool looking hammer. 👍🏼
@@rudybigboote3883 That is awesome, Cheers Rudy, I wish you the best for your projects.
Another brilliant project. Love it.
Thank you very much.
My son makes rebar forms for bridges and buildings, may make him one of these for his birthday, he'd get a kick out of it. Great video and cool idea !
Thank you very much, I wish you the best for your project, I am sure your son would like it.
This guy really loves rebar
Hahaha, yes I do, thanks for watching.
@@GavinClarkdiy I enjoy your channel. Although I mute it when you use the grinder. I hear that enough at work
Отличная кувалда! В очередной раз заразили, нужно попробовать смастерить такую.
Большое спасибо, я рада, что вам понравилось. Я желаю вам всего наилучшего для вашего проекта.
Another great video. A tool that I find real handy is a 300mm steel rule ( haven’t found any shorter yet) one side is normal the other side has zero in the middle, great for getting things even from the middle.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it Ian. WOW, I have never seen a steel rule with the zero in the middle, that would be handy. I appreciate your comment.
Custom Thor hammer. Really nice piece of work.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
Now that is a power tool.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it.
I bet the Dwarfs would love a hammer like that, even if it's just for looks.

Wonderful hammer Gavin! Your the Master off Rebar!
Thank you very much Brutus, I am glad you liked it.
Great work..!!
Thank you very much.
A 6.3 KG hammer!!! That's heavier than mjolnir!!! 😂 Thanks for sharing!
I have just googled it, it weighs 19KG so mine is very underweight. Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it.

Another great project! I like the way you blended the handle wrap.. that turned out great! I think this is the first time I've seen you use a bench grinder though... usually its all hand tools.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. I try to just use basic tools when I can, but I wanted the hammer face to be nice and flat, so I let the grinder help me. Thank you for your comment Mike.
Excelente trabajo, amigo mío. Eres genial. Amigo, eres un artista. Te felicito.
