    Could you imagine a cop using open handed silat to disarm and gain control of someone trying to hurt them with a knife or similar weapon? People would call police brutality knowing the guy had a knife and was trying to hurt the cop with it and say that the Silat was excessive force regardless of the fact that the guy had a knife. This shit is insanely busy effective

    Hi Maul! Really like your movement! Never trained with you, but have friends who have. I wanted to ask you about Pekiti Tirsia. I see so many similarities between that and your style. I know that there is a limited number of ways that a human body can move and that Silat and Kali are obviously regionally very close, I still wonder if there has ever been any contact or exchange between the styles. Maybe it is just that they are both effective blade based styles?
    Anyways, good show!

    i would like to see this instructor address the way people fight in the street no one punches with their right leg right arm thrusting forward in a perfect straight line , people throw punches much like you would throw a baseball with a slight bend in their arm this makes picking up the angle and ark of the punch more difficult to time and block and often they have grabbed a big handful of your shirt or jacket while the other arm throws punches like a machine gun , i like this art and this instructor seems very skilled but people on the street will not act in the manner portrayed in these videos

      Maul, I have had the honour of being "culturally entertained" by you at one of your Australian seminars. After more than forty years of involvement around a number of arts I can say that I was very "entertained". Keep up your great work as a cultural ambassador.

    • @kayn7596
      @kayn7596 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maul565 Thanks for the reply and clearing that up for me! I’ve trained silat and MMA; I feel the only reason why MMA can often be more effective is the way in which people train it. After years of silat and moving to MMA I was shocked because I couldn’t get any of it to work. Eventually I managed to incorporate some silat and the art really evolved for me. Would you ever try and adapt the art from a cultural/entertainment perspective so it could also be used as a self defence one? I love your videos and the art is amazing, but a lot of people are under the impression that Silat is a ‘realistic’ and ‘lethal’ martial art. I feel like it definitely is but if we don’t train to fight with resistance we don’t know what the art is truly capable of - or if we can actually use it!
      Thanks again!
