In this particular case, it is possible to remove 1, 2, 3, or 4 hydrogen atoms in oxidation of CH3OH. All of these cases result in different oxidation states of the molecule and different products. Ma'am one more question
    Why water has ions if it is made by covalent bond???????

    • @MagnetBrainsEducation
      @MagnetBrainsEducation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching our video and engaging with us. That is an excellent question! Water molecules are made of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen, and the hydrogen atoms bond to the oxygen atom with covalent bonds. The electrons in these bonds are shared between the oxygen and hydrogen atoms, but the oxygen atom has a slightly higher electronegativity, so it pulls electrons away from the hydrogen atoms slightly. This gives the oxygen atom a slightly negative charge and the hydrogen atoms a slightly positive charge. This creates a polar molecule, which is why we say that water has ions.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, the type of water at home depends on the source, like a well, a nearby river or lake, or a water treatment facility. If the water is sourced from a well or a nearby river or lake, it is usually harder than when it comes from a water treatment facility. Hope this information helps!
