I literally bought one of these yesterday (Pro Music Des Moines)! The fact Robert was able to fit such a monster piece of studio equipment into a pedal that sits right next to my other mini pedals is insane! Loving it!
Pete - really liked the song you put together and the bass-acoustic-electric arrangement helped to get a more full picture of the sound and capabilities of that compressor. Your song had a hint of 80s alternative to it, which I dig. I especially liked what that compressor did for your acoustic and bass parts. Would love to see you do a demo of the newer version of the Neo Instruments Ventilator. The old video you did of the original Ventilator was actually the first "Pete Thorn video" that I ever watched :) One final note - you are a stellar guitar player, but you are also a great arranger. I'm trying to improve on that end, but still have a long way to go.
Sweet tune and tone brotha!! Is it possible to put up a video of you creating a track from scratch. The whole Drums, MIDI, mixing, etc. and your process of composing a track? Whenever you get some free time that is!
Another awesome demo :) Thanks for giving this pedal a walk-through.. and great to hear what it can do for a variety of guitar applications. For the acoustic, did you have the compressor run through the output of your sound card? As I suspect that mic needed phantom power… beaut-sound.
Pete my good friend, we need good advice on setting up a good acoustic guitar pedalboard rig. Please include your opinion and advice on using a compressor with acoustic guitars.
It's a tough one- compressors live can make the guitar feed back, and they are hard on the fly to adjust because if you change your guitar volume at all, you need to re-set the comp!
What medium/high gain pedal do you use on your board?. Im currently using a BB preamp and an Archer foe all my drive needs... (Into a DRRI) They stack amazingly well but id love to get another pedal to go a little further. Any suggestions would be welcome... Ive looked at the angry charlie, purple plexi by lovepedal and the carl Martin plexitone.... Thoughts?...
+MrPaolo101 I have a bluesbreaker 1 (about the same tonal and gain range as the BB) and the archer too. I use both as very low gain overdrives, and I put a fulltone OCD (v3) after them which proves itself to be a very versatile medium to high gain overdrive/distortion. Engaging one (or two) of the two lows pushes it easily to very high gain territory ;)
MrPaolo101, I tried the Angry Charlie, MI Crunch Box, Carl Martin Plexitone (the smaller gold one) and several other higher gain boutique distortions in an attempt to "upgrade" from my MXR Super Badass distortion. None of the boutique boxes could knock the MXR off my pedalboard. Even the guy at the boutique pedal store agreed that none of the more expensive pedals were an upgrade to the MXR, which is truly saying something since I was there intending to buy something. Of course this only takes into account that it was MY rig and MY style, and I was already comfortable with the Super Badass, but it's worth an unbiased listen IMO.

How would you compare the Compressor Pro to the GC-2? Is the sound similar in your opinion?

Btw, I use an ancient Fulldrive in comp-cut mode (similar to the Archer) and a BB pre also.

when inserting into the preamp, do you have issues with the impedance, and balanced outs into a non balanced pedal?
This particular preamp is designed for use with pedals, it's so cool that way :)
