Don't set your pace to what your viewers want....set your pace to what YOU want to accomplish. Listening to you talk about motivation this morning you sound almost sad that you haven't accomplished more than you have so far. Keep on doing what you do best...building a "self-reliant" cabin in the woods...don't lose sight of that. God bless, and see you next week!
It doesn't seem that long ago that you walked out onto bare ground and told everyone you were gonna build a cabin. Now it's a full-fledged homestead. Wow. God bless you!
It is inspiring, isn't it? His channel is pretty big now too and well deserved. Wish more places were lenient with doing this type of thing without the building code stopping it.
He could do this for a side gig......take orders from ppl who want to slim down & simplify their lives, or just build a getaway cabin in their woods. I mean, if Shawn had a small crew of guys, and materials readily available, they could have the cabin up in a week!
My husband watches you. Since he retired he told me. That watching you follow and build your dream has been a great comfort. No longer being able to walk in the woods. He feels like you, and your sharing puts him there. He says the best part is the defection of the day. Looking forward to all up coming videos. Thank you for your interest in sharing!
Well then..shut up and stay off his page. What do you do that motivates anyone besides being a hater? Get a life. And keep your negative a** comments to yourself.
So basically..your living off mom. Everything he tries to tell you and what I tell my kids not to do. I live a major city and ask my parents for nothing. Being self sufficient is what I feel is the way to go. Now your getting on my nerves. Go sit down under your mama and when your grown. You'll understand what he is trying to say.
Do you know why I hit the like button before even beginning to watch the video? Because I KNOW that I will enjoy the content, the motivational talk, the beauty and the hard work! Keep going ;)
Hey Bro,we as in all your fans love your expression of life and appreciate you sharing it with us. But NO one wants to see you get hurt,be careful brother, remember life’s not a marathon. Cheers.
I think it was a good idea to stop and let the mortar set before going too high. While watching i was thinking to myself," man i hope he doesn't go too high and have it all collapse in the middle of the night because the mortar wasnt set right." Also dont forget to take time out for yourself and your family. If you miss a day of uploading we'll still be here when you do upload a video. 😉
Beast Man....I was wondering the same thing about the mortar....I don't know anythng about it, but I have had things collapse because I didn't let the lower part dry before going on...what about the foundation, will it hold? Smiles Judie
My Ex husband did a lot of stone work in our house. We had a free standing wall between the living room and bedroom. He always did just so much then let it set and dry before adding more to it. Good call on your part.
Dear Shaun, please do not hesitate to take a two-week 'vacation' from all the work to just relax, go out in nature and spend quality time with your family and alone... It is very important for your own mental well being, and I am sure none of us (your faithful subscribers ;-) ) will mind it if we would have to wait 14 days for a new video ;) Take care - you are doing an amazing job on building something great for yourself and your fam ;) :)
I started watching your videos because they came up, and I am interested in this. Amazed at what you have accomplished. But you made me care about you as a person, about your family and of course Cali, and the more I cared, the more I watched. It became not just informative, but personally like visiting a friend who doesn't know me. If that makes sense. But I agree that you need a break. This summer has taken a lot out of you. I'm convinced you cut yourself because of a moment of tiredness because you need a break. That's the thing about having a channel--it becomes a responsibility, when it's about having fun doing what you do. I also know people can't always have a break when they want one but hopefully you will get to. We need our fix, but not at the expense of your health and happiness. By the way, great video! :) You take care.
Jean Blythe...I have about 5 channels that I watch everyone of their videos! I feel just like you do, I care about them as a person, about their family & pets. I worry about them, such as, when Shawn goes out all alone into the wilderness, working with dangerous tools (chain saw, knives, lifting heavy things, climbing a ladder) with no one around, the people that tried to break in, if they will come back & hurt Shawn. I too care!!! I get involved. There is one woman that I watch that has breast cancer. Her viewing audience has dropped back to 5. I have never stopped caring, wanting to keep track of how she is doing, trying to encourage her and just letting her know "I care"!!!! Finally, after 9 months, she has survived & is on the mend, about to start making videos of her & her dog traveling. I feel like she is a "friend" & I care! Nice reading you "care too". Have a great holiday (labor day)....Judie
What Shawn doesn't touch on too much is that he was a construction and sheet metal worker in his past careers. That title "construction worker", typically brings a work ethic that is above mere mortals. It also makes a guy tough. What I see is that Shawn isn't against taking time out to enjoy his hobbies. Self-inflicted injuries for a guy used to working with tools can come from a variety of causes--self-absorption, speed in work, poor preparation, carelessness, yada. It rarely comes from fatigue. I'm sure our fearless Shawn is now discovering the limitations of age and healing, the desirability of not being injured. Go Shawn!
Shawn, just want you to know that watching your videos motivates me and helps me with my depression. This year has been particularly bad, but your reflections have been such a help. Your family are richly blessed having you.
Young man, you have done a wonderful job of making a home in the woods. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. You have come a long way from city boy to work hardenen creative man. What you have managed to create this year is astounding. It took me and my husband 2 years to build our cabin and help from our friends, you are creating your paradise by your self. Your family has to be proud.
After you are done with the projects going on at the moment may you make a walkthrough so we can see all of your work youve done so far. I think all of us would really appreciate that. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing content on youtube this channel is clearly my favorite one
Hard work does pay off as you have shown us. But don’t over do it. We need you rested so we can continue to enjoy your videos. And also we get to keep enjoying Cali too.
You are an inspiration to thousands of viewers. THOUSANDS. TH-cam wants creators to think in the millions of viewers but I think it is pretty dang impressive you've built a home from the ground up pretty much by yourself and thousands of people have been along for the ride. Just keep doing what you are doing. We are here.
I click the video button and immediately hit the like button because I already know there will be something to learn, something beautiful to see, a dog I am crazy about and YOU quietly working accomplishing things that are hard to believe. You have achieved hero or cult status for us who are urbanized and enjoy living through your visions and dreams. Bless you and your family and take a week to vacation, sleep in, and not wear a tool belt for a while. You're not letting anybody down on this end of the video. Jeri K.
If you ever feel like you’re unmotivated or anything like that just know you really motivate me to get out and get things done, idk how that helps you but I am very appreciative of what you do
My wife and I are really enjoying your Cabin Series Shawn. Thank you for the great content! Have been following you for a while and always look forward to friday video posts. We're in Perth West Australia and I'm from Canada Originally. always great to hear the Accent and see the scenery. Keep up the great work!!
My aunt got me hooked on your videos. Every night after dinner my husband and I tune in to your progress and I have to say you’re pretty amazing. You are so articulate and love your work. Hello to Cali!
As always another informative video. Don’t let the pressures of making videos get to you. If you have to take a bit of a break. You & your family need time together. We understand that!
When you find yourself feeling like you have so much to do and not enough time to do it, it's time to pull away. Often times I find myself overworked and mentally exhausted. It's ok to take a little time off. I know how difficult that may seem for people like us. If we take time off we end up feeling like hours were wasted and we regret not being more productive with that time. I struggle with this daily and sometimes you just have to say, "What the heck!!" ( Though often times I use more colorful words,,,lol) Pull away, I assure you....we aren't going anywhere and we will be right here when you get back.
Just as long as the break isn't too long, Don't want to chase off viewers by wait times, However I completely agree, I struggle to motivate my self when I'm so overwhelmed with so much needing be done
"My wife gave me some good advice this morning." When I heard you say that, I thought "that's awesome"! What I mean is, what a blessing to have her support in such a loving and understanding way! Nice to see strong marriages still exist! Your videos never disappoint! Love everything about them, what you stand for, and who you are! Nothing wrong with motivation difficulty. Sometimes I think it's the body and mind's way of saying it's time for some emotional balance, hence down time! Everything's coming along beautifully Shawn!
WATCHING FOR A FEW MONTHS MY NAME IS DIANE I,M DISABLED I ENVY YOU I LOVE WATCHING THE INCREDABLE THINGS U DO WITH THE LUMBER U CUT ON YOUR OWN YOUR ENTERTAINING TO DISABLED PEOPLE IN A GOOD WAY THANK U
Diane, you aren't alone in feeling that way about Shawn and Cali, and Shawn's family. I've just discovered this channel and am LOVING IT! I'm disabled, too. So doing these kinds of things myself is out of the question. But Shawn is a great teacher of understanding the human spirit, as well as building his dream from scratch. I love his personal chats at the end of a lot of videos, talking about strength {not just 'muscles', but inner strength}, and inner character. He is a blessing for those of us who can't necessarily "do" everything we wish we could, but we CAN "do" being decent, honest, and caring humans. PLUS, I LOVE watching Cali! I ordered a shirt yesterday from Shawn with Cali's picture on it! Can't wait to get it!! Blessings to you, Diane, in this year of 2019 and going forward... We CAN do this, Diane...hard as it is!❤
I am legally blind and living vicariously through Shawn and his videos. He reminds me so much of my late father - whom I grew up watching do a little bit of everything - except building log cabins lol. Hey Shawn I'm a potter and keep thinking you or your wife could/should take up pottery lessons (lots of teachers on YT too). I bet you could build a kickwheel, mine your own clay AND build a kiln. Awesome awesome series thank you for sharing - we need a little more of the values you and your wife have in our world today.
@@marybturner6564 Now that is an awesome idea Mary! Oh and guess what? My real last name is Turner! My family came from Kansas, now from Washington state.
Don't feel like you owe us anything.Take a break! The fall weather will get you motivated again and we'll be here waiting when you get back. We love you too much to leave you now. :) Thank you and have a great Labor Day Weekend.
Random thoughts. I agree it's hard to get motivated when it's hot and humid. I also would be leary of putting the stones to high up the wall. Those stones are going to make a nice warm heat source when the fire goes out. I also was thinking that you've got a lot to get done to get ready for winter. The work never ends and it always takes longer when you try to film it. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle with us.
Your green railroad lamp is so beautiful! My Dad built our house on land he bought after WwII in Indiana. He died at 97. Watching you brings back my childhood memories of my beloved Dad. I miss him so. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. He never had a guitar lesson. He played by ear. You bring back dear memories. Thank you Shawn so much. If he didn’t know how to build something, he’d go to the hardware store and the told him what to do and he could just do it from what they freely and verbally told him. You can just do it too. Amazing both of you!
Hi Shawn, your videos and your thoughts are always great and motivational and educational. We are coming into what I consider the best time of the year. Get out and explore we w will be here when you return. Cheers MT
Shawn you are truly an awesome kinda guy. But i am more then happy to watch what ever content you put out. If you need a break to spend time with the family do it. Theres nothing like family. Shawn you and your family have a wonderful holiday weekend.
I think that in order to follow something like the creed of "My Self Reliance", it relies on the fact that you can motivate yourself to be productive in your life and your world/community. I understand you appreciate making these videos, but also I think most of your audience would not mind you spending days for yourself/family. I think these types of things are important to keep your mental health strong and therefore be able to be more self-reliant. Thanks for all of the videos and discussions. Always look forward to posting.
Hi Shawn. At the moment I am watching your stone hearth video,. And you were talking about your stats. I do as well hope people enjoy your videos,. Because I do. I look forward to see your videos on both channels. What you are doing there at your property is inspiring. Here in Michigan it is hard to live and construct those buildings are difficult because of codes. Non the less I enjoy every video. One video I would like to see is your finishing the loft opposite of your bedroom, and also what you idea for storage/drawers for your bedroom. I watch your videos religiously, and enjoy all of them and look forward to the next ones. Thank you for the great videos. Keep them coming.
What you have done Shaun is fantastic and I don't want it to end "ever" as it is great spending time with you I understand it must be hard to keep filming when you may not feel like it but what you have got can only be a dream for some and you are so lucky I am so grateful you share it with me and others Have some time off if it is getting repetitive but come back please
Hi Shawn, Over the past year I’ve seen your love for your way of life grow into the Cabin and the Homestead which you have built out of the ground ,your videos show us all that something can be made out of nothing and the will to push on ,when for some of us have to start over . See you next time,Graham.
I find the parts where you work with different tools to build various things most interesting. For example, I've never built a stone woodstove so it's fascinating to see the work in progress. You have a way of mixing that work with beautiful natural surroundings and forest sounds that makes your vids very pleasing to watch.
Take a break my friend. I guarantee we will all be here waiting for you and your next videos, Your nonstop upgrades to that beautiful cabin are really addictive to watch. I have been hooked on your channel the day i found you when you just started laying out the groundwork of your cabin build. also. love your dog cali.
One of the reasons I enjoy your videos is because you love what you are doing. When a person is doing something they love, even though it is difficult or time consuming, or really involved, it does not look like work because you love it. So....make sure you allow yourself that. Personally I like whatever you decide to share even if it is sitting in a chair, taking a walk around your property, discussing your dreams for the place. Don't allow us to become a burden.
Another awesome video Shawn truly talented ,my mum who stays over in my house to babysit when I work used to give out to me for having you or Joe Robinet on my TV 24/7 ... She's here now telling me to pause the video until she makes tea LOL she's like me excited for every upload since I converted her 😂
Shawn, I just found your channel a month ago or so and am catching up. This is stuff that I could watch over and over and over again, so if you ever need to take a break, no matter how long, take it! Like someone else said the people who enjoy this will be here. As soon as I'm finished with season 2, I'm going back to start over again. I don't know what I'm doing here, I don't really know what a public comment is, everyone seems to have fancy names. Please take care
Not only is your build and progress 'entertainment' that I look forward to seeing, but you are an inspiration. Thank you for not only being real and sharing about how hard it is to get motivated (esp. when it's hot!), but your work ethic makes 'dream' projects more do-able. I have accomplished more this summer because of you!
I wish I could give you 10 million thumbs up. I love watching your transformation from a spot in the wilderness to an awesome home away. Your experiences help me set my own goals - at least a bucket list. Keep living the dream brother!
Thanks for letting us know about the numbers. You already know that many of the people that watch you care about you and your family. It goes beyond entertainment. Thanks for putting everything into these times so we can be a part of the adventure.
Shawn, you are an amazing man. I have so enjoyed your vids, camping canoeing, fishing and building. So please dont think that you have to be doing the building all the time to keep us watching. Everyone one needs tome off. Like you said, you havnt been doing all those other things this yr. I live in S E PA. USA. And we have had so much rain this yr, a record rainfall. And the muggies, humid, and soupy weather. It rakes a toll on me. So with that said take us on a water trip with you or whatever else that floats your boat..lol... We can wait for the cabin to be finished. You accomplished so much, tooo much already. May God Bless you and your famly. I am so proud of you!
It's good to see that even you struggle with motivation, it's a problem I have on a daily basis, it's not laziness per se, more a lack of anything interesting to do most days so I watch a lot of YT vids, mainly you right now, so keep on keeping on as they say, and I'll keep watching, give Cali a pat from me.
I don't care who your are, you can't go balls to the wall 100% of the time. Everyone needs a bit of slack time once in a while. When you missed the nail in the doorway, you did a good job keeping hold of the hammer. If that was me I'd be out in the yard trying to find where the hammer landed. Keep up the good word and glad to see your finger doing better.
I love that you are a balanced, humble person and not just thinking of yourself. You are considerate of your family and not just doing your thing and leaving them to go their own way. Even some just walk away from their family. They do not realize the harm they have done or the happiness they could have had.
Love waking up to these on Friday mornings! Thanks for the great content! It is tough to stay motivated sometimes. Learning has always been a great motivator for me. As long as I’m trying something new or learning a new way of doing something has made it easier to keep me motivated. That’s why I love your videos! Also think that is why backlog is important. Maybe build a months worth or so. Even if you have just short videos to fill in while you leave (Just because this is your business, not because you owe us anything).
Hey Shawn, you can tell by your video that you where annoyed after the glass chipped and you cut yourself. The humidity and heat gets to me also working on outside projects. Sometimes the best thing to do is walk away and give yourself a break. All the best to you!
Thank you, it has been a treat having a mid week video; I am glad that your finger is doing well; and I love the hearth work; I hope you get a fun break pretty soon, though, as your winters are pretty harsh, and seem confining, even though you are getting prepared...always balance, may God continue to bless you : )
Shawn really thanks for each of your videos, even if you do not know it or you did not plan it, you changed the way you see the future and hope at least in my case ... I'm 58 and I have a few years left for the retirement, and now thanks to you I am planning step by step my next future, saving money little by little for a few acres of land in the mountains of North Carolina, designing and preparing a model of the cabin that I want to build ... calculating expenses and tools. Summing up when I thought that things were going to get boring in my life, you showed me that dreams can be fulfilled and that there is always a goal to achieve. I hope you have many successes at each stage and by all means I always wait for each video and normally I see them 3 or 4 times a day. Sorry for the length of this. I know that you are possibly busy and can not read or answer all the messages.
I’ve been looking at land for the past year...North Carolina has about been priced out of reason and subdividing is leaving tiny parcels. I can’t see spending for two undeveloped acres in NC what I would spend for 10-20 acres with a cabin and a well elsewhere. Tennessee and eastern Ohio still have decent sized tracts for a reasonable amount. If you can find someone doing for sale by owner for a rent-to-own deal, or someone who will do owner financing, you may be better off than trying to save up the whole purchase price. My parents had five acres here in FL...it did not have a sense of privacy, and after they split it, the two remaining acres just feels like living in a fish bowl...slightly better than a development, but still “enclosed”. I want 50 acres, but my hubby wants to be no more than 15 minutes from hospital and shopping...lol...just not finding it in my price range, sadly. Hey...if anyone wants to buy a quarter acre lot in FL, near Beach Line and I-95, let me know! Nice lot for a snowbird nest 😉
Ronnie in Florida Thanks for the notice Ronnie, near the City of Murphy in NC .. there are still good acres and reasonable price between 5 and 10 acres, adding that it is close to Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. For now my goal is still NC, because I love that state, but I'm always checking out other states like Tennessee and Ozark in Missouri.
M Glennon Inspiration the perfect word, for Self reliance and Shawn. Georgia !! beautiful state, I was there three months ago, traveling with my motorcycle to NC, camped two days in Tallulah Falls, one of the most beautiful places I met. Thank you for your wishes and the same for you.
Ariel Macaya I’ve wet a line in 70% of the trout waters in NC. One of my favorite destinations. As for inspiration Shawn has ‘forced’ me to rehabilitate an old canoe. Once complete my 18-year-old son and I will have new waters to explore. Mr. James has succeeded with many of his loyal viewers. He is a rare treasure. We can all agree on that. MG
Hello i'm french and i understand a little about you're talking, but i admire your work. I follow you since 1 year, good job! Good Luck for the next Excuse me my english is bad :/
Hallo, just found ur videos...looking for an inspiration for my own place. U do the great job here and I really enjoy the way you shoot the videos. Not much talking, straight to the work, shortcuts of what was done already. Good job!! U remind me of my father, many things u say he used to say when he was working on some of his ideas. Thumbs up. I will definitely continue to watch your videos and hopefully, one day...i will make my own place. Thanks again and waiving from the Czech Republic.
I am new to this channel and this is the third video I have watched I enjoyed each one very much and gave all three a thumbs up. I now am a new subscriber. I know this video says August of last year and I hope you took the advice of all the commenters and took a little time for you and your family. No matter what family is the most important thing except God and you need to spend time with both. If you don't eventually you will get burned out and then you won't be around to do any videos. I don't see that happening but it could. Take care of yourself or you can't take care of nobody else. It looks like you are very appreciated on this Channel and none of us want to lose you. God bless you and your family I look forward to watching your videos
Don't be afraid to take a day off, after all, God rested on the seventh day, I enjoy your videos and so does my dog, I think she has a dog crush of Cali lol. Take your time and enjoy! Thank you for taking us along for the ride!
Vacation should be in the near future. Take a trip, hike the grand canyon, visit some castles in Europe, Scuba Dive some undersea wonders in the Caribbean. Time to recharge.
All the best to You and Your Family. You are motivation to many people. You are very nice good person. Stay strong. Stay heathy. Good luck and fun. You make beautiful important work. I love to watching it all. 💚
Your videos are truly inspirational to me. I'm now in my 70's and have moved to the interior of B.C. into a little cottage on a half acre. So many ideas on your channels. So many projects and labours of love to plan for. Thank you so much.
Mr. James, maybe after breakfast, you and Cali could take an hour or two for a short canoe ride. Im sure you are familiar with the saying about "all work and no play". As ambitious and persevering as you are, it is my humble opinion, that you need to rejuvenate with a little play. Then prepare the duck, and enjoy it before starting back to work.
You are so thoughtful but family comes first and sometimes we all need to recharge. Do something fun with your family . UT will always be here . Thanks for the videos.
I love your videos, always smash the thumbs up button! Having the bell clicked means I dont miss your videos no matter what schedule you put them up. Great job :)
Shawn don't let your Canadian work ethic drain you!!! You have plenty of time to video for us, Pace yourself and take breaks every so often in 1-2 week intervals, You'll feel better and the content will continue to grow organically as it has since the beginning!!
Yelsew Painter...I felt just like Shawn does (I'm a woman alone & everything HAS to be done by ME). We have had 3 cooler days & I have gotten so much done! That heat just zaps every bit of strength from ya!!!
We’ve had very hot weather in England,it’s now cooling down now thank God..we are not used to the heat. Autumn getting nearer...I know when it’s too humid,it’s just too much to do anything that requires hard work. I think most people love your channel, they’d watch you and your wife play cards, just so they could watch a vid. It might be a idea to just announce that your having a break for a while... Then start up again, once feeling rested and refreshed. No one will think any less of you Shawn. Thanks for all your brilliant videos ...
Who doesn't get down I ask?🤔...i mean "motivation" wise, I mean everyone needs a break. Even though everyone will agree KEEP THE CONTENT FLOWING🤣 but sometimes a holiday is much needed to reboot. Take the solo breaks - film a little while out in the wild, take the time to enjoy your wife and girls and on the water...you only live once. I think most of us watch not just for the builds and your lovely voice but because you captured our attention with your SURROUNDINGS. Enjoy your life many of us do not get to live as you do, I envy your NON-MOTIVATE SELF🤣🤣 . And if everyone else leaves your channel just remember you will always have at least 1 admirer 🙋♀️...who needs more than that.
Hi Shawn....like so many others, I enjoy every single one of your videos. I started watching last year when you began the initial construction of the cabin, all the way through to now. You should feel proud of what you have done and it's a testament to your determination, work ethic, AND your ability to "self-motivate". When I heard you lamenting about how you were struggling to get motivated and feeling bad about it, I thought I would chime in for the first time since I started watching you. As others have stated here....you should NOT feel that way...not one bit! Given everything you've accomplished thus far, it's perfectly ok to just have a lazy day or two (or three or four). And...for goodness sake, don't feel added pressure to post the videos if you just want to take a break. Your audience will not go anywhere. We will all be here when you get back. So, if you feel like time (and precious moments with your family) are being compromised, then just step away for a week or so. Get out there and have those moments NOW. Given so many things you have said about how that makes you happy, you should prioritize that over anything else! One more thing I want to say.... Thank you again so much for breathing this channel into life! I sincerely look forward to each and every video, and make a point of waiting until the end of the evening, so I can curl up in bed with my OWN Golden Retrievers (we have four), and just Exhale! Seriously, it has that effect...supremely calming and quieting. Even though you are always busily working around the cabin, there's just something about the natural balance you have created up there, that feels so good and right! All the best good sir...and give Cali and kiss on the nose for me! (my wife loves to see her)
Watching this on the season 2 playlist and between this episode and the previous one, there was a massive structure that popped up in your front yard. Crazy!!!
I am disabled and housebound but I am able to live vicariously through you. Thank you.
It doesn't seem that long ago that you walked out onto bare ground and told everyone you were gonna build a cabin. Now it's a full-fledged homestead. Wow. God bless you!
nice seeing all the progress ... i finally watched the time lapse the other day just so i could see it flash by all over again ;)
Good job, good to see the continued work. I think the mantel height hearth will work well. Keep up the good work.
I know! Like I said------ You are an incredible, amazing, human being. Wishing you continued success. Thumbs up!
Shawn, trust me..YOU ARE motivation to all of us!
Well then..shut up and stay off his page. What do you do that motivates anyone besides being a hater? Get a life. And keep your negative a** comments to yourself.
Fmart3315 good for you. Now who cares anything about you? Like I said..keep your negative comments to yourself.
You're such a gentle gentleman. I truly enjoy watching your videos.
Do you know why I hit the like button before even beginning to watch the video? Because I KNOW that I will enjoy the content, the motivational talk, the beauty and the hard work! Keep going ;)
Thank you :)
Amélie Nabet same here
I alwasy do the same thing.
Me too!
I do just the same
Hey Bro,we as in all your fans love your expression of life and appreciate you sharing it with us.
Family is more important than youtube videos Shawn!!!
get and enjoy your life!!
Cali 🐶 has the best life. Makes my ❤️ happy.
Jean Blythe I whole heartily agree! Take some time for you! Even God rested on the 7 th day after all of his work.
Well said, Jean. Echoes my feelings exactly.
Go Shawn!
My sentiments exactly! You said it so well!
I always give you a thumbs up before I even see all the video because I know it's going to be good.
DEploribus Unium...ME TOO!!!! Just to make sure I don't forget...always a thumbs up first!!!!!
I started watching, then, went to the beginning, watching season one in succession, enjoying every single one.
Amazing. All i can say..
You inspired me to do the same. Ill post videos and photos soon.
Shawn, just want you to know that watching your videos motivates me and helps me with my depression. This year has been particularly bad, but your reflections have been such a help. Your family are richly blessed having you.
I’m 72 and just love your videos, keep up the good work.
Watching your videos are therapeutic for me.So thank you for that. Keep up the great vids.
After you are done with the projects going on at the moment may you make a walkthrough so we can see all of your work youve done so far. I think all of us would really appreciate that. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing content on youtube this channel is clearly my favorite one
I can’t imagine life being any sweeter than setting out a thunderstorm in a cabin in the woods. What a charmed life you live.
Hard work does pay off as you have shown us. But don’t over do it. We need you rested so we can continue to enjoy your videos. And also we get to keep enjoying Cali too.
I love it when Calie gets up to supervise when you do work. She is such a sweetie, just wants to be close to the action.
Jeri K.
SHAWN, YOU IS A GREAT EXAMPLE EVERYDAY , GOD BLESS YOU FOR FAMILY. VIVA CALI FOREVER.
Here is a friend from Brazil. Your videos are great, they are an inspiration for our life.
As always another informative video. Don’t let the pressures of making videos get to you. If you have to take a bit of a break. You & your family need time together. We understand that!
Shawn your videos are the best take your time guy needs a break once in awhile
Your vids are so therapeutic. Thank you so much for the entertainment and keeping me sane.
Well said.
Just as long as the break isn't too long,
Don't want to chase off viewers by wait times,
However I completely agree,
I struggle to motivate my self when I'm so overwhelmed with so much needing be done
Agree,good advice
"My wife gave me some good advice this morning." When I heard you say that, I thought "that's awesome"! What I mean is, what a blessing to have her support in such a loving and understanding way! Nice to see strong marriages still exist! Your videos never disappoint! Love everything about them, what you stand for, and who you are! Nothing wrong with motivation difficulty. Sometimes I think it's the body and mind's way of saying it's time for some emotional balance, hence down time! Everything's coming along beautifully Shawn!
Agree. Having a great partner that supports your plans is priceless! Best of everything to you and your family. ~🙏🏼
Dog days of summer always slow you down for everyone who works outside keep up the great work as always its coming together very nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Thanks Diane
I check the channel several times a week just in case you have uploaded the odd video. Always good and informative as well as entertaining. Thanks.
Great video Shawn. You don't need to tell me to hit the like button, I do it anyway. I love your videos, they calm me down.
I don't always comment but I always like, then I just watch, which often lead to me rewatching previously watched videos ☺♥💯♥
The Love & response you get from Everyone should be pretty good motivation. Thank you James for your work, words, & passion.
Looking excellent Shawn! You have made a lot of progress the last year. Something to be really proud of!
You are considerate of your family
and not just doing your thing and leaving them to go their own way.
Been watching now for several months. Incredible work. You should be proud. Thank you.
Hey Shawn, you can tell by your video that you where annoyed after the glass chipped and you cut yourself. The humidity and heat gets to me also working on outside projects. Sometimes the best thing to do is walk away and give yourself a break. All the best to you!
Thank you, it has been a treat having a mid week video; I am glad that your finger is doing well; and I love the hearth work; I hope you get a fun break pretty soon, though, as your winters are pretty harsh, and seem confining, even though you are getting prepared...always balance, may God continue to bless you : )
I really enjoy the "fireside chat",.... Another awesome video Shawn
watching this is great inspiration. thanks for posting. you're a treasure
Shawn does gift us with inspiration. Same here! Your neighbor in Atlanta, GA. Best wishes on your future goals!
~Cheers~ MG
MG
Shawn, you are one of the hardest working man on TH-cam. Totally admire what you did with the cabin
Hello i'm french and i understand a little about you're talking,but i admire your work. I follow you since 1 year,good job!
Good Luck for the next
Excuse me my english is bad :/
Hallo, just found ur videos...looking for an inspiration for my own place. U do the great job here and I really enjoy the way you shoot the videos. Not much talking, straight to the work, shortcuts of what was done already. Good job!! U remind me of my father, many things u say he used to say when he was working on some of his ideas. Thumbs up. I will definitely continue to watch your videos and hopefully, one day...i will make my own place. Thanks again and waiving from the Czech Republic.
I think it's the other way around, you encourage us 👍 awesome awesome job like always GB
I love to watch these videos.. Oddly, I feel like I just came back from the North woods (vacation!). Cheers!
Even a painter would step back for perspective......
(Let that fingertip get some air)
Thank you Shawn .
All work and no play makes Shawn a tired boy!
It's such beautiful life, with nature. And how you steeled it, I can only write RESPECT 👍 Such a life I wish too 🍀
All the best to You and Your Family.
Thanks Kathleen
Nice stone hearth. Did not know the stove had so many pieces. You always seem to be really busy.. good job on the hearth😺💞
This is awesome, I I've always imagined doing this my self in the future, but this is motivating! Best of luck, keep it up!
Shawn don't let your Canadian work ethic drain you!!!
You have plenty of time to video for us,
Pace yourself and take breaks every so often in 1-2 week intervals,
You'll feel better and the content will continue to grow organically as it has since the beginning!!
I agree Shawn. Hit the lakes and woods for a couple.of weeks and recharge the batteries. The work will be waiting for you when get back
Yelsew Painter...I felt just like Shawn does (I'm a woman alone & everything HAS to be done by ME).
Glad to see you are not letting your injury keep you from getting back to what you love. Your very inspiring :)
Doing the business of building/running a homestead is interesting in itself. Plus it's understandable you need to provide for the family.
Alles Gute! Es ist schön Sie zu sehen. 🍀🍀🍀❤🐕💋
(my wife loves to see her)
Shawn you’re the man! I absolutely love your channel!!
I like that you bring Calli along w you.
She adds her own charm to ea video. 🧡
Watching this on the season 2 playlist and between this episode and the previous one, there was a massive structure that popped up in your front yard. Crazy!!!
My husband and I look forward to your videos every week. Love your stone hearth!! The colour on those stones are amazing!!
Don't live to make content.... Live your life... bring us a long when it suits you. Thank you for sharing.
I love that you don’t play background music. I like hearing all the noises, makes it more enjoyable.
