I love love love your show. I'm a fisherwoman, love snowshoeing ,camping and log cabins , gold panning ,hunting, I'm 64 years old with sever Arthritis so it does slow me down quit a bit .you have encouraged me to get my butt up and start doing the things that really make me happy again so I have no regrets. Thank you for encouraging an old lady to start acting young again.
All if your videos are great!! This one especially because my father passed away a year ago today and he would live everything you do!!! The entire wood stove set up he would Love!! Thank you Shawn!! Felt like he was here with me watching you!!!
You deserve to get a Nobel Prize .I haven't seen such a trade of all jacks person in my life. You are provided with every material you need by mere yourself skill.May you keep it up.
Everytime I watch one of you videos I feel my motivation grow. I am working hard to get my home ready to sell, because I know I can find a peaceful place like yours to live. I may not build it from the ground up but I know there is a place in the forest somewhere for sell. Thank you Shawn. Your are a great motivation to follow ones dreams.
To watch you work is awesome! I am blown away at the volumes of information I gain from your videos. I appreciate how much you can communicate without verbalized dialogue. Shawn, you are an inspiration. God bless you!
Thank you my dear friend from Canada for next video. Your simple life style is great for health and happiness 🍀 I like your green paradise. I wish you good luck with next week 😇 Take care of yourself and Cali 🙂
One more video, a great lesson in how you can be good with yourself. We see and relax. Beauty, environment, forest, animal life, Cali ... man, you're a lucky man. Thank you.
I really enjoy your cooking segments on this channel. Don't know much about cabin building but I love it when you wake up and make your morning coffee with a hearty breakfast then lunch and dinner. I enjoy your channel so keep it up mate. Would love to see some more cooking.
"A Man and His Friend"..."The Love of A Friend"....,,Just 2 titles that came to mind when I saw this one. Everything seemed so right. Thank you for always sharing.
You are an inspiration to me..i as an individual do alot of camping scenes..but after watching your video..you truly defined the reality of camping in wild..!!
Shawn, you are a real inspiration to so many people, I love your artful creations, and I love how even when you are so busy working, you still have time for Cali. Greetings from Japan where I am now, I am downloading all your videos for when I go back home to Greece, I will find me a place where I can emulate your work, even though I do not have your talents, but I will sure will give it a try, I have your videos to guide me through, and my two Akita Inu to keep me company. Please keep posting your videos. I love every one of them. My advise to those 42 individuals who thumbed down your video is to get a life, because you do not have one.
I love your videos. Ive watched every one for a year now. I adore Cali. I wish you the best always and hope you and your wife the most peaceful and happy years of your lives in that beautiful cabin.
Thank you Shawn for your wonderful vids & sharing your lifestyle with us. I dont know what prompted you to share but you have provided so many of us a great opportunity & insight into a small part of your life & I thank you for your kindness & dedication for excellence. One can see & sense your dedication to hard work, morals & values that you choose to share with us. You have my respect, my friend. I thought it was lost along with the old frontier way of living that had instilled the morals, values & honesty which were passed down to the younger generations by our parents & previous generations. Judging by the actions & words of most of the present youth, I can see the deterioration of commitment to family, morals & honesty as time goes by & it saddens me. I shudder at the thought of what the future generations will go thru without that love, honesty, dedication & commitment to home and family as I enter into my last stage of life. May Almighty Jehovah be with us all & continue with His mercy & understanding with our future generations just as He has done with all the previous. Respectfully...
I absolutely loved the close up of the berries bubbling..great capture. Your quality and editing are superb. Cali gal adores you. Thank you for allowing us to share your days and nights. And for your inspirational and thought provoking insights into a life well lived.
I'm not calling you old so don't take this the wtong way. Like a fine wine you get better with age that kitchen is unbelievable. I haven't been able to watch much lately I had surgery on my kidneys I was getting stones so bad I couldn't stand the pain any longer Anyway I'm recovering and all the videos I've missed have helped me greatly escape all of the bs of being in the hospita. God bless and take care my friend.
I truly can't wait until the weather gets cold. The effect of your video's quantify by 100. The vids become magical. Keep up the the great inspirations that your videos give everyone.
What makes these films riveting is the lack of words. Most channels are a festivity of needless verbal information, but the scilence here makes watching them almost like a spiritual experience, and by that I mean the spirituality of living in harmony with nature. Thank you for posting them.
God bless this man love his sweet dog mans best friend. I love the fact that this man turned nothing into something such a wonderful gift to be able to be so incredibly skilled to make anything you want out of wood I mean I wish I had that gift to be able to do that just a wonderful gift going out there and making your own little Oasis may God continue to bless you and I hope all your project finished even after that I'm sure they'll be others stay safe out there
I believe your name is Shawn. You are priceless and have struck a chord with thousands of ordinary people with ordinary lives just watching you build, furnish & live in your log cabin in the woods. AND you have done this single handed. You are an inspiration with your honest to goodness values and hard work ethic. I have never been so enthralled with all your videos posted in all the years since my son gave me an iPad. All honour to you and long may you reign. You are light years away from my 2nd floor apartment on the South Coast of England but it feels as if I’m right there with you in Ontario with loads of questions to ask and freaking out in case a bear comes.
Looks all so cozy and relaxing! What a great job you did on the the fireplace!! Cali and you both look so content!! You look bushed on your throne towards the end...truly the King of the mountain!! Great work Shawn...thank you so much for sharing.
Dear Mr. James, Hello once again from the Golden Horseshoe of Ontario. How are you Mr. James? Do hope you and your family and Cali are keeping well and have had a good week! Mr. James, my purpose in my writing you this next commentary is just to let you know that, I am sending you and your family and Cali a little something special in the mail today and hope you guys like your gifts a whole lot! On that note, once again it has been great to be able to speak with you Mr. James and hope you and Cali and your family have a terrific weekend! That having been said Mr. James, God Bless! Lots of Love, your Golden Horseshoe friend and neighbor and avid watcher and sister in Him Always, Dorothy.L
Watching your videos reminds me of my old camping trips where my scout patrol would all sit quietly around the fire without talking; just admiring the visuals and sounds. That is exactly what I love about your channel, the quite, calm sounds (no background music or anything) and the beautiful visuals of the cabin and forest. Keep it up!
Love to see how you make all those projects come together. Especially love seeing beautiful Cali! She is so happy to be hanging out with her dad and helping with the build! xox
Brilliant idea for the fireplace with the concrete mantle piece ...shall have to remember that for future reference. Love watching ur vids keep the ideas coming Shawn..Thanks from UK.
Shawn...you never fail to impress me with your skill and your knowledge. You are the stuff that our ancestors were made of. Your wife and family can't possibly be anything other than proud of you, and you aren't done yet I suppose. I look forward to all of your videos.
Thanks for sharing yet another great video Shawn, I thoroughly enjoyed watching as always. I'm looking forward to seeing the kitchen in action this winter.
Great video Shawn, as ever. Cali really does love it out there being with you. I'd love to see an update segment of what your Trailcams have picked up lately.
Your dog is beautiful and she loves her owner for sure. I'm proud of you for making the jump to live as you have dreamed. You seem so peaceful and content living off the grid. Love watching blessings 😊
You have gotten some great use out of that copper sheeting! Ut looks gorgeous above the mantel. Also, nice choice on using the forged hooks in the outside kitchen...pride of place I think. Additionally, I love how you are using the sap buckets to catch water until you get the gutters up. These are all great examples of innovation and thoughtful use of materials. Keep up the great work.
I really do enjoy watching you on TH-cam. All the things you do, working, gardening, cooking. It’s very relaxing to watch. One thing I appreciate very much is there is no foul language. Good clean videos are rare anymore. Thank you very much.
Good stuff. Rock work and Copper sheet work looks great. Really nice work. Looks like it has been there a hundred years. I know you do not like much noise from tools. But for the fireplace ashes if they are totally out. A small vaccuum cleaner gets up the really fine stuff. I have a BUCKET HEAD vac I bought from Home Depot for like 20 US dollars. Works well off batteries and inverters and good for small cleanups.
Shawn, I so enjoy watching you work on your projects. You have created such beautiful spaces. On top of that, you are also quite the chef! Another great video my friend. My best to you and Cali : )
Thank you for another splendid Friday afternoon : ) beautiful work on the stone fire backing, the copper adds nice complement, so enjoy the work and the rest, your food, your chair, fit for a king : ) may God bless you.
This time I wasn't nervous because you didn't say GOT HURT, so I trust you to warn us. Glad you are healing nicely from before. I don't know if it's just something un-pinpointable but you have seemed more relaxed the last couple videos. When you started to cook the rice, and the berries, and the duck, oh my....one of the best meals ever! And relaxing by the fire, Cali at your side, ahhhh the perfect end to a day. :) Niiiice video. Loved every minute of it! Thank you for the effort you put in to helping so many people relax and feel hopeful about the world.
Shawn, I really enjoyed the metal work and watching you put a safe edge on the copper. My dad was a sheet metal worker, he made steel chimneys and was once a panel beater for a bus company "The North Western Road Car Company". That's the North West of England, by the way! As always a good meal at the end. I've just taken some apples from my trees to bake with venison sausages tonight. Whisky soaked raisins and cider for the braising liquid. We are not a million miles away on this one and I have those berries growing in my hedge. The ducks in the river outside my house are out of bounds as it is a built up area. But, I know a man with a gun and a dog, so...... We'll see! Absolute delight to watch. Thank you. Regards Stephen.
I find it interesting that you have thumbs down on any of these videos. Tells me, people need to learn to enjoy life and get out of the house more often. Great video once again and enjoyed learning as always. Jim
So grateful that Fall has arrived and given us cooler nights to rest. This video truly resonates with my soul & imagination. Fully capturing the peace and serenity of life off grid. At 24:59 I noticed something beautiful in the distance had found your lens...and then twice more. I laughed into my cup of coffee...Cali, you are such a sweet little ham!!😄🐾🐕💕
To see the beautiful copper shine at night: somehow hang those two lamps out a little farther from the wall. Just an idea. As always fantastic video, thanks.
I want to thank you for the escape. I have been working 50-60 hour work weeks for the last eight months at a corporate America desk job, and watching this video makes me think of where I would really want to be and what I would really rather be doing.
This was a very enjoyable video Shawn. Thank you for sharing with us. Whenever I see you create, cook, playing with Cali or just sitting out doors by your fire, I wish I could be just like you. Enjoy your peace and quiet for me too. Stan
Your Video is so up lifting to watch. You create these wonderful projects for your cabin with your hands. Showing us all the beauty in nature surrounding you what a joy for us to watch. You have a God given talent sir. I know that God has ways to use people to help others even on TH-cam. Always look forward to your final reflection talks at the end. You bring to ones mind many things to think about in ones life for sure. I can say honestly this is the first time that someone has really made me think and do my own reflecting on my own life after just turning 70 years old. Thank you Shawn .
Shawn, love your videos. Therapeutic to watch you build and live a simple life. One tip on the grill: if you segment off a small section below the grid (maybe a steel box?) to stack up wood or coals higher and get them closer to the surface, you get much higher temps for better quick searing, locking in the juices and getting a great crust on your steaks. If you want to avoid unhealthy drippings, cover the box with a steel flavorizer plate. Stay awesome!
Shawn , what a great birthday gift! I wake up n see your latest n greatest on my notifacations! Great way to start my birthday day celebrations! Thanks! Cabin area looks stellar! Great job on the stove/fireplace area!
Same here start early 2017.Seing this amazing cabane being builded out of nothing in this incredibly pitoresque wildeness! It is like an addiction. But a good one....This is the best, and it is all good, thank you

Shawn, love your videos, can't wait to see the end result of your entire setup, especially your outdoor meat cooler. Also your outside oven the reason there was no chimney is because like you said back then they did not make pizza's, pizza was not introduced to Canada until the 1950's and research does not specify, but says late 19th century to the U.S. Just thought you may like to know that information. Keep up the great videos and God Bless you and your family.
Great job, Greetings from Italy!! Your videos are very instructive, I think the dream of every man.... Cabin, dog and a lot of work to do.

One more video, a great lesson in how you can be good with yourself. We see and relax. Beauty, environment, forest, animal life, Cali ... man, you're a lucky man. Thank you.
My question is: how do people dislike these videos?
Another great video. Art at its finest. Life at its fullest. Mindfulness at its brightest.
Brandon, at least the dislikes are only a few hundred compared to the likes in their thousands!!!
Jealousy that they want to, but don't have what it takes to do this.
I love the scene at the end of the video with you sitting by the fire at dusk petting Cali, I hope its a dream come true for you!
Man my Dad would LOVE that campfire chair!! lol
Like the KING of the fire!!
We love your videos. Thank goodness you don't ruin them with music like most other TH-camrs.
I really enjoy your cooking segments on this channel. Don't know much about cabin building but I love it when you wake up and make your morning coffee with a hearty breakfast then lunch and dinner. I enjoy your channel so keep it up mate. Would love to see some more cooking.

with an A-major...........
Yes! The copper, the stonework, the wood - such a wonderful, useful marriage of natural products. Very satisfying.
I miss self reflections. I need to go back to your foundation video to enjoy seeing how far you have come.
Thank you so much for letting us see your life. I look forward to Friday for this very reason.
Just another off the grid Friday ! Thanks Shawn.
Been watching from the first episode until now. Shawn is going to build a kingdom for sure. there's always a fresh start at every build. Love it.
Dear Mr. James,

On that note, once again it has been great to be able to speak with you Mr. James and hope you and Cali and your family have a terrific weekend!

You're very hard-working you deserve everything you got you're good to your dog you're a good person and God bless you
Amen, to that. 🙏

Being good, doesn't get you into Heaven.
True, hope he knows the Lord Jesus Christ
Though I didn't see him pray for his food, so I don't think he is a believer
John McKenzie ...good to his dog?! He is good to his wife and children too.😏
Lunch break, a cup off coffee, and a new my self reliance video.......what a glorious start to the weekend.
Wonderful to see you cooking in the outdoor kitchen again! Love how the rock wall turned out. Fantastic job!
Watching this is therapy.
The stone work & mantle looks great! Can’t wait to see the oven in action. Take care.
I truly love your work and work ethics. Without a doubt the best cabin build ever by 1 man alone in the woods. Keep up the great work Shawn.
Shawn everything you have done, awesome does even come close, originality and use of space it’s absolutely great.
Videography was beautiful, and your girl Callie is a lot like my Barney Briard - patient, loving, always wanting to be where is favorite 2-legger is.
This has quickly become one of my favorite TH-cam series. I believe it has to do with reaffirming ones own self confidence.
Cali really loves you. She’s so attentive and funny. Has she ever brought you any wildlife friends? You’re amazing. Keep up with your great job.
Shawn, I really enjoyed the metal work and watching you put a safe edge on the copper. What an amazing amount of progress for only about a year and a half. And all from one man, hard work, and some know-how. This never gets old.
To see the beautiful copper shine at night: somehow hang those two lamps out a little farther from the wall. Just an idea. As always fantastic video, thanks.
Shawn, In a world devoid of integrity, you're a solid mensch. Well done. Inspirational.
The place has really come together. Love watching your videos!!
Callie is such a wonderful dog beautiful
That intro music could not be any better. Total bad ass. Really enjoyed it the past couple of vids!!
Nice to see you take a break by the evening fire
0 dislikes must be a good video i just find this so relaxing to watch thank you for all the hard work you put into each video.

Keep grinding Shawn - you’ve done a remarkable job. You’re videos are cathartic and perfect to watch before sleep (in the nicest way possible).
Shawn that first frame shot in video with you behind the fire is sooo cool , you have to post or keep a still shot of that...
