It must be a fantastic feeling to know that they have contributed to the construction of that home ! It is quite an amazing feat all in of itself ! In addition, I would love to have a log home, and have a design already in my mind ! 👍 Although, I am mindful of deforestation, and hopefully they are planting the same amount of trees that are removed. 🌲👍

You don’t have to worry about deforestation in Montana. More trees are growing than are harvested.

That is a pretty impressive home!!! That looks like quite a job to install those basement stairs after construction was done but with that group of craftsman they made it look easy!!!

Thanks for the video. What provision is made in the stairs for setting of the log walls?

Basement stairs, such as in this video, don’t require any settling because the basement walls don’t settle. However, in the upstairs, where there is a log wall the bottom of the stairs is not fastened so the stairs can slide forward several inches during settling.

Why not treat the log walls before the frame walls go up ?

The log walls could be varnished before or after the frame walls, either way, doesn’t make a lot of difference.
