One thing I love about mastodon is that they throw in those little samples of stuff from the 50s that always gives me a little chuckle before the blow my fucking face off
I love that sample. I just wish I knew how to obtain an audio mp3 of it. Anyways, these guys are brilliant. Probably my second favorite band after Pink Floyd.
Dont forget about Bill too. Hes also screaming. He should get more props than what he gets, especially now that hes rocking the fauxhawk and the handle bar stache.
@ThoraxeTheImpaler34 It's double bass, and he didn't. listen to the studio version. or even watch the video for iron tusk, it's clear he's playing double bass and you can see his right hand on the ride and left on the snare.
@destroysubgenres seeing dillinger and mastodon and soundwave, hoping dillinger plays creature lives with them, hoping brent does vocals for horse hunter. god that would be insane.
ah shit an all the love in the world to bill and his mustache! i wonder what it would be like if bill took a solo in a song because i know he is just as good as brent is but has never taken a solo
SOADude666 he’s got sleeping giant, but that’s not really a solo. I’ve watched a few interviews where he said he’s always been more interested in riff writing rather than being a soloist. That’s where Brent’s banjoeing ass comes in with the licks 🤘🏼
Hi dude! I don't mean to attack you with this, just want to correct you. Your comment is pure heresy! Brann ALWAYS does the fast double kicks in that riff. I saw Mastodon live three times and he always did it, I just watched a video of this song live @ Download 07 and he did it there too, but what's most important is that: 1) he does that in this very one video and you didn't notice it! 2) somebody agreed with you. Nothing personal, cheerz!
Well I must say I agree with just about every word of this comment...those double-kicks are probably my favorite part of that song, used sparingly, but super-mega-ultra-fucking-effectively. The one thing I disagree with is "go nuts"...I think if I saw them live, my head would fucking explode.
hmm... brann never does the super fast double kicks on the third repeat of that first riff live. haha i KNOW you know what im talking about. wonder why. it is hella fast, i guess its pretty tough. whatever. fuck if i ever saw them live i would go nuts./
One thing I love about mastodon is that they throw in those little samples of stuff from the 50s that always gives me a little chuckle before the blow my fucking face off
if there was a church of brent hinds i would go every day
I was Fkn obsessed with this band on that 1st album. Im from Atl so those were badass days.
Man, Brent's vocals were so much better before his throat got infected
What happened to his throat?
@@pimptony2030 it got infected
@@Chilipotamus "yeah but what happened"
"No bro you don't understand, it got infected"
"Yeah but what ha-
Holy shit, it's been too long since I've seen Mastodon.
Forget it, man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.
“Shake this square world and blast off for kicksville” iconic
Dailor knows how to kick off a badass song
Saw them for the 3rd time last night with Red fang and the Dillinger escape plan, all of them were epic.
march of the fire ants is the heaviest song i've heard
1:24.... unreal and inhuman growling starts.... fantastic band
you're goddamn right 0 dislikes!
3:37, I think I would be the same! Best day ever !
Nice sound quality!
I love the improvisations Brent does with the mini-solo.
theyre awesome live man... saw these guys at Mayhem Fest. last summer.
incredible
Those are two of the best voices in metal. Hell, in any music, period.
glad i got to see mastodon play crack the skye back in october. the night was made even better when i caught brann dailor's drum stick =D
2:20 - 2:49 best part.. I get gasms every on my body when i hear that part!!
I feel so privilaged to have seen them live, moreso this song combo, which is indescribably awesome.
I love the improvisations Brent does.
I totally agree with u man crack the skye has to be the greatest albums ive ever heard its simply amazing
So did I and I'm seeing em again May 12th at the 9:30 club in D.C
hell yeah i saw them in houston and fuck yeah they were in-fuckin-credible!!
Seeing these guys live at Mayhem was intense. Fucking awesome.
where strides the behemoth and march of the fire ants r just amazing
This is fucking amazing, what a force
Troy sounds like an angry pirate while Brent sounds like a mutated hobbit... fuckin love it
@MarcusMatamua a classmate of mine just introduced me to them this week. My thoughts were the same.
I was hoping they would play that clip when I saw them this month, but they didn't :(
YEEESSSSSS
@MarcusMatamua
My thoughts exactly when i first listened to Mastodons albums
@ferr66 Those other bands aren't even in the same league.
Ah Iron Tusk/March of the Fire Ants - the second best 1-2 live punch they do after Where Strides the Behemoth/Mother Puncher.
I love that sample. I just wish I knew how to obtain an audio mp3 of it. Anyways, these guys are brilliant. Probably my second favorite band after Pink Floyd.

YOU WIN
Bill does the gutturals in March of the Fire Ants. I don't understand why this clip doesn't show him.
March of the Fire Ants Plays whenever I enter a room.
I came through the whole thing, it was a pretty big load
@1masterdestroyer It might be the audio and how we here it then.
@ThoraxeTheImpaler34
It's double bass, and he didn't. listen to the studio version. or even watch the video for iron tusk, it's clear he's playing double bass and you can see his right hand on the ride and left on the snare.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
@siscomusic no the october 30th nyc show.
Holy Fuck!
High rotation on satan fm. Fuck! Now I see!
have you guys seen bill's handle bar?
gah, why doesn't Brann play that sick double bass part in the intro live?
@1masterdestroyer It's not double bass its snare and toms. And he did
@ThoraxeTheImpaler34
oh damit, I didn't mean the tom intro thing, I meant the part after that when it switches from single to double bass.
@destroysubgenres seeing dillinger and mastodon and soundwave, hoping dillinger plays creature lives with them, hoping brent does vocals for horse hunter. god that would be insane.

whoa dude thats fucking awesome! SOAD and satan are 2 very great things eh? not to mention mastodon... HAIL BRENT HINDS
BEARD METAL
lol when they zoom in on brent at around 5:20 he looks like a giant leprechaun
So weird to see Troy without sleeves on
hmm... brann never does the super fast double kicks on the third repeat of that first riff live. haha i KNOW you know what im talking about. wonder why. it is hella fast, i guess its pretty tough. whatever. fuck if i ever saw them live i would go nuts./
better than Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold and probably Trivium,
but hey just my opinion! i mean this is HEAVY!!!
jorsh gut well that's a huge understatement
Definitely the first 2
@SOADude666
Dude thats wierd we have like the same name! haha what the fuck
@Jax0r1337 *at soundwave
Brent's scream is fucking brutal on this
They zoomed in on Brent; anyone who’s paying attention knows that Bill has the best roar.
I came somewhere between 1:20 and 1:40
ye, he did double bass here
you can see his body shaking while doing it
btw it isnt that hard - especially for drummer of his caliber
I would be such a dick if i were that good.
All I can see for most of the video is a cat having a seizure.
