One of the thing I find really interesting, and I admire, is that all of the band members sing. And not just the other three coming in to do a call and response or just backing vocals. Nah, one song the bassist will sing the verse then the lead guitarist sings the chorus, then they’ll all sing the chorus. Then in another song the drummer will sing verses then the bassist and the guitarist will sing the chorus and maybe the second verse. Then in another song the lead guitarist and bassist will sing a whole song harmonized. And every other combination you can think of. There is no lead singer, and it really gives them a very unique sound and they’re all the better for it.
I'll never cease to be amazed as to how many different signatures, rhythms and patterns Brann can squeeze out of such a [relatively] tiny kit. I guess that's one of the reasons why he's held in such high regard... peace!!
Great set....me and my mate were there front row centreat Download for this one! woooo hooooo! Brent had his E string snap and he just kept going till the end of the song...brilliant!!
Dude Colony of Birchmen’s riff is so fucking good. It’s on the level of Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, and he’s like the granddad of metal guitar riffs. Like it’s deceptively simple, but something about that sound and the way it’s played is pretty fucking catchy
awsome dude!!!!! i was actualy on the bar, it was awsome, it was the best gig ive every been to, every1 around me was like omg, i wish i could have seen mastodon when i was 11 like u! :D
Christ, this was fucking awesome when I went. Facing the stage I was in the right section of the crowd. I was right next to the pit. At the time it was being conducted by two guys. One of them was topless guy wearing a Chewbacca mask. This shit was amazing.
@Killerrayzz Brent had a throat infection, so his screaming doesnt sound like that anymore, and keep in mind that the album was still pretty much brand new, so they have to get settled in with playing it live. Like Oblivion, most early performances were weak when compared to the most recent ones.
@Commiteee It's a tribute to randy because brann has born in the day that randy died and it's polka dot because one of (or maybe the most famous) guitars of randy was black with white dots.
YEa,my friend also let me borrow the tab book and i checked it out, its just it said D Standard on the guitar Pro i have so i wasn't sure, and i didn't think they used that tuning in Blood Mountain.
OMFG i am going to quote that for the rest of my life, lmfao, that quote is the most truest thing about Brent i have EVER heard in my life man, fucking amazing.
FUCKING AMAZING. Brann is inspiring. I'm not gonna bother saying "OMG hes the best drummer ever", but he is obviously very talented, and a great inspiration for any drummer.
pretty sure it's C or C# (all down half or full from stnd.D) for some songs but up (D) for others... a little screwing around when I'm playing to the CD on my guitar.... been a while though
1:41 "Running through NYEAAAH"

I'll never cease to be amazed as to how many different signatures, rhythms and patterns Brann can squeeze out of such a [relatively] tiny kit. I guess that's one of the reasons why he's held in such high regard... peace!!
