You cannot deny that there has been caste-based domination in Carnatic music for a long time. It has been pretty obvious. TMK himself has benefited from it, but, to his credit, he chose to talk about it, to debate it, to expose it. Arguing that it does not exist is not a convincing argument. Yes, trying to open it up is not just one man's prerogative and there can be many people adopting different approaches. TMK is not against Brahmins or the community, as far as I can see. All his fellow performers and his friends-in-concert series have been from the same community. He did fantastic work raising money for underprivileged artists during the Covid crisis. No problem about criticizing him. He is a public figure and everything he does and says can be criticized. He is an outstanding musician who towers in his field. Even people who do not know the music are entranced. His singing moves one to tears. He fully deserves the award. He is articulate and uses it to good effect. People who accuse him of sensation mongering are not half as talented as he is. Denigrating activist musicians is also a highly hypocritical act.

TMK is the Kamalahasan of the Karnatic music field.Both strive to conceal their natural identities with their pseudo revoltution and hypocrisy. Karnatic music doesn't discriminate on religious, linguistic or communal lines.Even a cursory glance at the list of all time greats of Karnatic music will prove the point.Shiek Chinna Maulana, Namagiripettai Krishnan, K.J.Esudoss, John Higgins, Kadiri Gopalnath, Balamurali Krishna, MS, Rajarathinam pillai, MLV, Veenai Dhanammal- all these doyens were respected equally despite their diverse background.There is no dearth of Tamil kritis either.TMK has no right to tamper with the rich tradition of Karnatic music kept vibrant for ages by mahans.

Because in Kerala most of the keralites are well versed in Sanskrit, Telegu Hindi, Marati etc. That is why they are able to enjoy the classical music.

Some people have a doubt that some dravida kalagam leaders are behind this decision to confer Sangeetha kalanidhi on tm Krishna with the intention to divide the music academy into two groups. Perhaps the academy also seems to have yielded under pressure. This view is only an assumption which may be or may not be true. Earlier days the hotel industry in tamilnadu was run by mostly one community. Dravida kalagam openly countered it and that community has been totally thrown out of that business. Only two other areas where that community is seen are temples and the carnatic music. The present controversy may be an indirect beginning with the help of music academy. This assumption may be or may not be correct.
Really scary , if this were true ! Pray to God to give Sadbuddhi to everyone.

Think of how western music has genre.. so TMK should try introducing the new name to his way such as fusion or call it any name he like but he can share the notes and ragas from Carnadaka Sangeethem instead of disturbing their tredtion and belive and passion. That way he can include everyone if he strongly belive that Carnadaga Sangeethem belongs to 99.9% Brahmins and try to co exist

T.M.Krishna should know that there were many non-Hindu carnatic music performers,like shiek moulana, Jesudas .,etc. No body have said it should be performed by Hindus only.
Who told swaminathan Iyer-Tamil Thatha (grand father of tamil) to go to every village and collect old tamil manuscripts? Did someone create opportunities for him to research tamil? Who told Brahmins to pursue music while their brain allows exceling in many fields, did anyone create opportunity? Do Brahmins promote bad singers? Brahmin will encourage anyone who has interest and capability. Who taught Illayaraja carnatic music?-L subramanian's father taught him who is Iyer. Who conducts marriages for non brahmins?-Iyers. All communities live in harmony and in past there was no brahmin-non brahmin fights. What kshatriya did. brahmins didn't do. What vaishya did, brahmins didn't interfere. These rogues like EVR and now TM Krishna who are from rich families have nothing to do and create problems within society.
Racism at all levels. Music is divine. Nobody can own it. It is for each and everyone one in this universe.

If TMK is so revolutionary, why does he not encourage his "pakka vadiyam" artists coming from the non-brahmin community. Also, Dr. Balraj Balasubramanian is an excellent carnatic musician sought after worldwide. He heads the musicology department at the renowned Wesleyan University, and he is not a brahmin. His students come from American/non-american communities. They are one of the top performers at the famous Cleveland aaradhana. If you hear white Americans singing, even you and I won't have that kind of perfection. They are not brahmins..so as all artists, those boycotting this, has total justification of their views. Big shoutout to everyone for standing up for the values and beliefs and voicing it openly.

Neither Chennai nor Jesudhas show any dispect to the feelings of any community. Same cannot be said about TM Krishna who was a sort of an unclean traitor in the robe of a musician. He is a pseudo secular comedian doing all kinds of gimmicks to remain a public figure. He is an ill mannered musician thinking that he is a genius having the authority to speak/write about the most revered musicians and the trinity of carnatic music. Making money out of the kritis of Saint Thyagarajar, he would write nonsense about the saint himself. Any decent character would not speak or write anything hurting the feelings of any community. But TMS is not a decent character and we don't expect a great attitude or a great behaviour from such a character.
Chappal garland is the only thing which will suit this fellow TMK😂😂😂. Not sangita kalanidhi.

TM Krishna recently had a concert overseas where he sang about humans clearing human waste… Had he sung it in front of politicians and administrators in countries where humans still carry out these tasks, it will probably get the officials to act on it! Why he sang it on stage in a country where this is not happening is beyond one’s comprehension. What the point barking at the wrong tree? His actions are confused and wrongheaded.
Is Nadhaswaram not a carnatic music instrument? Who are experts in this instrument? Brahmins? The instrument requires high lung power.
