OMD "Electricity" live November 18, 2023 @ Darker Waves Festival "We don't have time for art, okay?"

Lez go, indeed!! And with that, OMD dove straight into their debut-single Electricity (one of my favs) and nine more songs and absolutely killed their set. There was definitely a buzz around the festival (and following days) about how good OMD's performance was. I've seen OMD before, and they are true musicians and performers. I really appreciate how they perform and entertain. They sound great live! What a treat to share matinee madness with this talented crew literally on the sand at City Beach in Huntington Beach, just a few dozen yards from the surf!

Yea, so many good memories from the 80s and OMD, and definitely the cassette tape in the car, and on my ghetto blaster, and my walkman.

OMD destroyed the headliners, both of whom were influenced by OMD (especially TFF).
OMD was so good! And I think maybe OMD had a little chip on their shoulder about how early in the lineup they were. Andy made a couple of comments suggesting as much. They were much too early in the lineup in my estimation too. But I think it kinda motivated them to kill their set.
I think all of these bands influenced each other to some extent. Joy Division, New Order's precursor, formed a couple of years before OMD, but OMD's precursor, Id, was formed about the same time as Joy Division. And Tears for Fear's precursor, Graduate, also formed about the same time. But Orzabal and Smith agree with you that Gary Numan, OMD, Depeche Mode, and Joy Division all influenced them and pushed them more towards electronic music and deeper lyrics.
