When I worked retail, there were a shocking amount of people who don't understand that being cordial does not indicate romantic interest. I ended up being stalked by a guy to the point the cops had to be called because he waited in the parking lot and boxed my car in and wouldn't let me leave (until I gave him my phone number). I still wonder what was going through his head, like that's not cute behavior, that's terrifying especially for a fresh out of high school girl.
Fun fact: My wife is actually from Kent, and I met her while she was at work... She was actually interested in me though, so our first conversation was far less awkward.
I think it's sad when someone says they're not a feminist. I've been one for 32 years and in that time the group's I'm in have helped men and women of all ages. We have helped men in custody disputes and domestic violence situations. Please don't judge an entire movement that has done so much good of a few misandrists which do not represent feminism. And the fact that people have to deny they're feminists when supporting women is even sadder.
My best friend in high school had a guy ask her out multiple times and she always turned him down. One day she got called out of class to go home early, and on her way out ran into this dude... as he was on his way to her class to do a prom-posal in front of her entire history class. Literally if she left 30 seconds later it would have been too late. Luckily for her (and him, honestly) she got to run into him outside of class while the halls were empty, and she got to throw away the giant poster and bouquet of flowers on her way out
So many girls hate being hit on in public places or at work. You can't really say no without being extremely friendly, because you fear for your own safety.
I was 17 working in a cafe. Guys would hit on you every day. A polite no never worked so I started being blunt. Which lead to those guys complaining to my manager or waiting for me outside the cafe. It's insane.
i'm just saying, a lot of the comments seem to think he's desperate and pushy towards a girl he has a crush on. to me this looked like a guy talking to a girl he doesn't know and trying to get information on her, probably to stalk her. not only did he ask personal questions, but he became suspicious when she hesitated in telling him the exact location of 'her' college. i hope she's okay, that sounds so fucking scary.
I get texts by guys often trying to start ‘talking’ to me. I’m not into things like that; I am an introvert and I watch Anime as well as play video games. I usually give dry replies, and most of the time they keep texting. I usually leave them on read if so, I know it seems rude. I just don’t know how to deal with it. The same goes for in person. They ask for my Snapchat or Instagram, again I keep the conversation dry to give them an idea. Which in person they usually understand, good thing. I don’t know how to talk to people, that may be another reason🥲 It’s literally mostly guys. I had one girl and she got the message right away. I’m pansexual, but that doesn’t mean I want to start talking to everyone that texts me.
As someone who works in service too and is a girl: if you tell them straight no, it often gets more stressful/dangerous. Then they feel attacked and have to go in defend mod and are like: but why? I am a nice guy and so on. And you are like: i have a long time boyfriend and i am no cheater. And often (don't know why) they answer me then: but your boyfriend isn't here now. Or where is your boyfriend then? - and i am like boy, i am a grown up women at my workspace. My man has to work too? So every time i have to go out of the house he has to follow me or what? It's just so fu**ed up....
First off, don't hit on someone while they are working, it's just not right. They are there doing their job, getting paid to have to be civil to such wastes of space like this and because she talks to him, he's thinking she's into him. I've never asked someone out while they were working and no, I didn't wait outside like a stalker for them to get off work. If it was meant to be, I'd see them somewhere else. The only times, mind you I was younger and in much better shape then, I ever flirted with someone while they were working was a few times the cashier or waitress gave me their number before I left. Even then I'd keep it down to a minimum because they were working.
The ONLY reason she's putting up with this is because she's at work and I truly feel sorry for her. No one should have to endure such an encounter, working or not. He probably felt safe enough to hit on her BECAUSE she was working and he knew she couldn't get away or mace him. Truly hope she never runs across him again. Thanks for sharing this one.
Also, I had a old mini fridge, I took off the door and kept it to hold conditioners, soaps, bathroom stuff. Then I covered the door with stickers. It’s a cool idea. Incase you need ideas for where to put the stickers. If not get an old fashion physical photo album and store them in there. Boom.

I accidentally acted uninterested when this boy I liked was talking about an anime website in 8th grade. I wasn't into anime, I like it now, still not that much into it, but still, I wasn't into anime, but I liked him talking to me and I was just letting him talk until he says "you're not interested". And then he wouldn't talk anymore no matter how many times I said "no, I am, please keep talking".... He literally never talked to me again, and it sucked lol. I really liked him. Small story time... I went to a grocery store late at night a few weeks ago, like, okay, it was around 9pm, to get some cat food cuz I was out of it for a morning meal for my cats. This random guy walks up and was like "Excuse me..." and I'm thinking perhaps he thought I worked there or just, wanted my opinion on something, but then is like "If you wanted to start a conversation with someone, what kind of question would you ask?" and I was like errrr... like my brain is going "what? Why is he asking me that?" but then I realized he was asking me so he could then get the question he'd then ASK me to strike up a conversation... in the cat food aisle... of a grocery store. I humored him and told him I'm not the person to really ask as I'm not so great at conversing with people- he said he apologizes for interrupting my 'kitty shopping' then I was like "Well, bye..." and started WALKING AWAY- but then he actually called out to me again I guess to ask me something and I'm like >.> and then he says something about how "I'm not sure if you're like this with your cat... but I tossed my dog down my stairs and she came running back up excited for me to do it again- and was like 'again again!'" and I just kinda was like Erm- nervous as I said my cats would probably kill me if I threw them anywhere. I then left a bit quicker cuz... yeah- I was weirded out.

Some people may wonder why she didn’t just yell at him and answered everything in the most dry emotionless way. But I always found that to be effective when I happen to be in a situation like this. Humans can keep grudges, and we all tend to remember dramatic events. So, I make myself almost robotic instead of showing any type of emotion. Eventually, I end up being pretty forgettable to that person and they just leave and I never see them again. Of course, if the situation is serious I’ll yell bloody murder, but for these situations I just make myself seem like the most boring person on earth.

In the end, it just escalates the situation and I end up spending extra time having to deal with an anger issued hack who decided that they don’t wanna flirt anymore, but they’ll attempt to follow you around cause their whittle ego got hurt. My approach is a little different to the girl in the video as I agree with your view of just telling the dude that you’re not interested. But I’ve observed it to be more effective to say all these straightforward replies in monotone, with the replies being as short as possible as to not encourage anymore discussion. Not that I’m saying never yell at a dude, but if it’s this situation where a guy is just being awkward, and hasn’t gotten to a level that they’re intimidating/threatening. Then I just keep it to the monotone. If a girl feels truly threatened she should yell, call for help, and do her best to run as that’ll ideally alert everyone around her.

I hate being in these situations, and sometimes it's a risk. Had this happen a few times. Guy in a Tesla stopped next to me while I was walking home. Bragged about how his wife and him were in an open relationship and asked me if I’d like to “participate.” When I said no he called me a few names and I started to walk off, he followed me for the next few blocks.
When he said “ hehe you’re cute” made my skin crawl. It reminds me of the time I was at work. I’m 16 so I’m a minor. This 40 year old man was eye balling me the whole time he was there so I ignored him. When I was fixing menus he comes up behind me to pass me to get the the EMERGENCY EXIT DOOR puts his hands on my waist squeezes it, then lets go whole still trying to look me in the eyes. At that point I was shocked, just standing there. 2 boys around my age grabbed my manager and sat me down to try and keep me calm. They were form my school so I was good sitting with them. I told my manager and she went off on the guys bc they were just about to leave. It was freaking terrifying. I’m a tiny girl. 5”0 and I’m 91 lbs so I get targeted a lot for some reason
