    Ngl, I would have thought this was a guy cross-dressing, as there are dudes in my area who do this stuff. I've even seen a dude with a full beard and huge boobs when I was working in retail, and seeing stuff like that offline is just... surreal. It makes me really glad that I don't work retail/food service anymore. You truly do see some weird stuff out there. No hate or anything, and the whole you do you, but BE RESPECTFUL. People out there are LOOKING to be offended at anything. She could have just said to the person in the drive thru that they're a woman and probably would have received, "oh, i'm sorry ma'am" and that would be the end of it, or hell. You'll probably never see the same person working there again so leave it alone. She's 1 customer out of hundreds/thousands that place probably serves, and tbh, no one really cares who you are, they just want you to get your food and gtfo.

      Were people mostly cool in your area? When I lived in New Orleans it was like that. Like no rules, not even enough indications to accidentally gender someone. Luckily everyone was cool and accepted 'bruh' as a gender neutral pronoun. Example: "Bruh, I don't know where you're headed tonight, but I know that the people there ain't ready for how your eyeshadow, nails, and the beads in your beard all match with that dress. Knock 'em dead, y'heard me?"

    They weren't doing it on purpose, they assumed, which is what humans fucking do. Literally our minds are made and molded to put people into boxes. If you want to be put in another box, then go on hormones, maybe have a few surgeries, change your name. Not saying that's necessary, and you're not valid if you don't do that, but if you wanna be called what you wanna be called, I don't fucking know try harder I guess.
    Also, before someone might come and attack me, I am already on hormones myself and I do get called sir sometimes at work and it makes me very happy when I pass. It takes time, but it's worth it.

  • @PlayfulFruitLPer

    As an LGBT person, this person's behavior to that Sonic manager was absolutely out of line and completely unwarranted. They (The Trans person) refuse to meet people half-way and be reasonable in the slightest sense. Male to Female transgender people are always the problematic ones because 9/10 even when they transition they still don't look like cis women and they NEED to understand that it's the REALITY. But I'm sure the staff would have tried to accommodate them regardless had they changed their name, if they have a male name that would honestly and rightfully confuse MOST people. Further, they said the employees discriminated them... no. They did not intentionally do this to harm the customer, and without intent it can't be purposeful, therefore it was them not knowing. It really upsets me that these people are out here with not so much of a drop of common sense and making problems out of nothing. In the words of the great Blaire White (A SANE trans-TH-camr.) if people are honestly mistaking your gender, then you as a trans person need to be doing more to present as the gender you're trying to, don't waste that energy on people being confused.

  • @TheRealW.S.Foster

    Can confirm this - I work as a substitute teacher, and I was subbing for one of the main teachers and had a co-teacher helping with lessons. The co-teacher accidentally referred to one of the trans students as "ma'am" when the student identified as a boy - the student flipped out and had a panic attack, and the co-teacher was called to the office the next day. She didn't get fired, but word going around is that she was talked to by the principal and asked to not let it happen again.

    As a trans man, I understand how hard it is to be misgendered BUT it's hard because you know that person knows that those are not your pronouns and misgendered out of true transphobia. People are really visual and sadly, they are gonna treat you according to your looks or your name in your documments, unless you communicate your desire to be referred as the gender you are or have full cispassing. People are not mind-readers, they are only working and maybe you will never see them again why to be that agressive with your reaction?

    I've been called sir many times from behind due to my pixie cut and masks being mandatory at times. Never once did I go off like this, I just would politely say I'm a female or they would correct themselves as soon as they realized their mistake due to my surprised reaction. If your polite most people will correct themselves whether you be trans or not. And she seems to expect an ammense apology from him, yet from what she stated he did nothing wrong, only the employees that handled her food did. Also if your part of the trans community you'd know its better to state what you'd like to be addressed as rather than assuming they'd get it right. Most will be understanding if you aren't bitching at them to assume the right identity. What if you identified as they/them, how are they supposed to presume thats your pronouns without any prior information. She is completely 100% in the wrong, and I can't believe some people would support this kind of toxic behavior in the community. Don't give the community a bad rep just bc you expect the public to always get your pronouns correct.

Some of them expect you to ask them how to be addressed and the others feel offended because you don't assume it instantly without asking. It's impossible to please them. • @lolasmom5816
      @lolasmom5816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trans women aren't being killed. They have the lowest murder rate in the US. It's lower than children murders. In the majority of cases it's things like DV or drugs, not bc they are trans. The media immediately labels all trans murders as a transphobic hate crime b4 any info is even known. Society blindly runs with that bc they want it to be true. Once details come out and it had nothing to do with a hate crime the media barely mentions it if they mention it at all leaving people to believe their first report. If u research the names on the trans hate crime murders list you'll find that 99% of them had nothing to do with their trans status. One trans woman on the list was murdered by another trans woman over a wig. It was still added to the list anyway. One was shot by cops after stabbing their mother and then running around their neighborhood with a knife trying to kill people. Still listed as a trans hate crime. They just add whatever names to the list bc they know people won't research the names bc they want it to be true. People want to believe that trans women are being murdered everyday bc they are trans as if there's trans hunting parties going out to hunt them down and kill them for no other reason than they are trans. If any of u truly cared you would do research so u could address the real issues causing these murders to happen. You dont tho. All u care about is having fuel for your own victimhood. You want people to believe that u are at high risk of being murdered bc your are trans when in reality you're far less likely to be murdered for being trans than a child being murdered. When we figure out how to get people to stop killing babies then I'll be happy to address the couple people that have been murdered in trans hate crimes. You'll keep on with this false narrative tho while expecting society to act like there's a trans hate murder epidemic and prioritize you over all the many, many murders that have nothing to do with trans people. I'm not going to prioritize like two trans hate murders over about 500 child murders. Actually I don't think we've had a trans hate murder this year at all. Why don't u look up how many children were murdered during the time period that there was zero trans murders? You won't do that bc you want to hold onto the lies. You need them to be true so u can hold onto the ultimate victim status. Or u could look up how many trans women have sexually abused women and children. You'll never address that tho and if u do youll holler "those aren't REAL trans women" while also demanding that anyone that claims to be trans be blindly accepted by society as such. Well at least until the commit a horrific crime and they look bad on your group. Then you'll happily deny their trans status. You people are the most entitled, selfish, self serving people in history while gaslighting society into pretending you're always the victims. If one trans person gets murdered you expect society to drop everything to run to your cause but 20 children murdered in the same week are lucky if they even get reported. You won't even know those children ever even existed and won't be bothered to read the article when one does get posted. Sorry if I'm not about to bow down to you and worship u as a victim of your own choices. You create your own victimhood and then demand society feel sorry for u. I dont.

      Trans women is a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population. Smaller sample, bigger percentage, appears to be bigger problem than it actually is. Of all the cases of people getting killed, I’d stake a decent wager that trans women being killed specifically, is far lower in number than any other demographic basically ever, but it’s only specifically a problem to trans women. People are killed for a host of reasons, one plight will never be more important than another in the grand scheme. People suck at understanding statistics on a level that I cannot even believe in 2022.

    The height of privilege is worrying about things that are normally minor inconveniences... It would be one thing if this person was attacked in the street because they were trans, but having a fit over something so small is just victim complex at its best.

      It’s becoming a serious problem, a lot of people who are ‘minorities’ believer they’re entitled to certain things and they can’t be challenged at all. They believe the entire world is against them and they deserve the best life possible. This shit is fucked up bc who knows how many years down the line, someone who looks like a woman (long hair, ‘feminine’ clothes and high pitched/ womanly voice.) You address them as how they are presented, oh no you misgendered them. Hate crime.

    This is the equivalent of saying, "Does this make me look fat?" and demanding that the person be honest with you and then calling him a fatphobic misogynist if he says yes. What was the end game here? You shouldn't ask questions that you don't actually want answers to.

      Also, this is TEXAS, since when has Texas been overall accommodating to trans issues. NEVER. Not that I'm defending her for her dumb actions, nor am I saying that the manager or the employees were in the wrong. It's just a fact that trying to create an issue like this, in Texas of all places, really doesn't help push forward any acceptance of the trans or queer community. This is a mostly conservative state and she's angry that a random sonic does not have certain policies in place to protect trans people from the horrors of being misgendered.
      As a transsexual individual myself-sure, getting misgendered off the basis of looks or voice hurts like hell, but I'm not going to blame the staff or anyone for it. Correct them, suffer in silence, and get over it because there are more important things in life than a couple employees messing up once. As long as your living your own life, have friends and people that support you, and a good stable job, why go after others? This kind of attention seeking behavior just doesn't compute to me. I'll never understand it.
