  • This build series covers the build up of the 1/32 scale HO 229 - from Zoukei-Mura - this was a top secret project by the German's during WW2 - Only two of the wings were ever built - one crashed on a test flight destroying the plane and the pilot - the other now lives at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.

This is my favorite airplane of all-time and the number one model kit that i want to build. My problem is that I am disabled and unable to work anymore so I live on a very fixed income and I live in my 1967 GM TDH-4519 city transit bus full-time in the high desert of New Mexico. I am hoping that one day i will be able to get that kit and book as i find building models to be very therapeutic.

That’s a great story and a very cool model as well!

As a fellow Brit who moved to LA in 2005, my first place was in Glendale, on Chevy Chase Blvd. Richie

What do I think? I think you've got a huge ❤️ of gold Phil. What you're doing for Brett is very kind. My wife and I was in England last month (I wish it was for fun but my wife's mother had passed away) and we got the opportunity to meet Wayne and Esther. They were kind enough to let a couple of strange strangers into their home and we're very grateful to have met them. Wayne also told me the kind gift you have given them and I just gotta say "wow" you're a good man Phil and I hope that one day I get to meet you in person and shake your hand sir. But yes, I'm like you, I don't do aircraft either but what a fantastic kit! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this.

What a great story, Phil! Thanks for sharing it. It reminds me of the Enterprise-C that I was going to work on before my tremors got too bad, but it never came to fruition. I had wanted the C to go with the other iterations that I have in toy form, but alas it didn't work out. I'm sure Brett (sp?) is very grateful. I look forward to the final chapter of this build!

I'd be tempted to build the air frame as a stand alone model, then do the skin separately, like one of the old "solid" models, from the balsa era. Paint the greenhouse black or maybe light blue and display the two as a set. It's a damned shame to hide any of that beautiful work.

What a lot of details, how on Earth do you cut them of the sprue, without them snapping into tiny bits?

The Sprue trees are actually very well made! Small parts do ping away though if you are not careful! 🤪
