  • Can UTIs be passed between partners? The short answer is yes.
In part two of this interview with Dr. Tim Hlavinka, we answer the following questions:
    ● If someone experiences UTIs after sex only with a specific partner, could that indicate there may be a transference of organisms between partners?
    ● What types of organisms can be transferred between partners?
    ● Can non-penetrative sex transfer UTI-causing organisms?
    ● How do you know when to do UTI testing vs. STI testing?
    ● If organisms are being transferred between partners, how should each partner be tested to investigate the source of the organisms?
    ● When it is established that both partners should be treated, how should this be approached?
    ● Is it helpful to clean the urogenital area in females and males, and if so, how?
    ● Do autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto’s limit the body’s ability to fight UTIs?
