Don’t know why this camera doesn’t get more love. Sure it may not shoot 4K 120fps or have FX3 low light (which is just really good noise reduction) but it basically does everything else and really well. I hope Panasonic see this as a sign to get back into mid-higher end tier of cinema cameras. Need a new full frame EVA and box cam.

@@bmon9682 yeah you're right. That too, Sony seemed to have cracked the code with having high ISO footage and still have it be useable. Sure like many mention you could add in post but that adds a good amount of time to post production.

Sony great low light performance is mostly due to massive temporal noise reduction, fine details look smeared.
Also the 4K 120fps has a crop on the A7SIII, and on the top of that the resolution is not as good as with higher megapixels cameras, so the footages look not as crisp and Sony uses a lot of in camera sharpening to mask the low resolving power.
And the IBIS is just a joke compared to Panasonic.
But everything is not fantastic about Panasonic either. The S5II has much worse internal video quality than the first S5, yes AF and IBIS are good to very good, but the S5II has a lot of extra processing going on internally, making the image not as appealing as before.
I hope the S1II will bring back the excellent video quality of the first GEN. Meanwhile I only use BRAW on the S5II.

It’s really good low light even in raw, there is a lot more to it than noise reduction.

@@slows728 enjoyed reading your feedback. What is your experience encountering moire in clothing or fine architectural details with S5II? This has been my biggest holdup from jumping in as a Lumix GH5/G9 user. I can't confirm if the original S5 has an AA filter or not. I'm also thinking of waiting on the S1 successor whenever they may arrive.

@@OBP_ When you buying something, you always justify the money you pay compare to other option there are in the market with your budget range. And also the possibility to resale this product you're buying now tomorrow on the market, to upgrade to a new one when you need it, or tired of it. For that, you have to make sure the tools you buy are interesting enough now to be interesting or catch the attention of others tomorrow, to benefit your future sales of this product. Just that! And that's the way it is!
Buying a camera, is not about creativity, it's about a tool for work. If this tool will be versatile enough for all kinds of things, or works, you would like to do now and in the future, or if after that, you will have to rent other tools for other types of work because of the limitations of this tool you bought.
Honestly, no one buys a camera for creativity. For creativity people go to film school, for creativity people analyze and reproduce movies to learn from, or make movies with less inexpensive tools you have like your smartphone or rent one. But if you are creative enough, or professional enough, you just lend a cheap camera from your freinds or family and use it for your film, or you just rent one for a few days but the indicated one for you the need of your film project. But, buying a camera, is actually not a creative thing and either thing real creative people use to do.
Real creative people in the film industry that we all know, don't buy cameras. And maybe even interested in the new models cameras that come out. Like Lars Von Trier, Steven Spielberg, Paul Greengrass, Matias Bize, Christopher Boe, Xavier Dolan or other, they just focus on the story they want to share to people using the Cinema Art as a tool to express their ideas and not The Tool (camera) as a cinema art machine to express their ideas. They never care about the camera for creating their stories, they just care about the story and what the story needs to be shared (purely) to the audience.
Let's be honest, we're all here because we're addicted to technology, to camera inventions, business tutorials and tools to review, things like that, mostly!!
      And, that's ok!!
But that's why we need better specs in these tools, the newest specs, to show off and get the most attention on this market segmentation. But for film projects, stuff like that, creative people always rent cameras and never buy. We all know that!!

Just done extensive ‘before’ and ‘after’ tests with the new firmware. Good news is that IMO the e-stabilization with HIGH selected is better than the old FW. However…it’s not action camera (GoPro) stabilization standard as some YT posts have reported. My first test was to take S5ii and DJI Action 4 video footage at the same time. The DJI stabilization was superior to the S5ii.
But the most interesting insight is that that e-stabilization is better on its own (with IBIS). If you add a Lumix lens with O.I.S (such as the new 28-200mm that I received a few days ago) the video footage is worse than if you use IBIS/e-stabilization on its own. So if I am taking video and walking (without a gimbal) I will use one of my other non-O.I.S lenses to get the best e-stabilization
