- SCP 001 is an anomalous religious organization known as the Church of the Broken God.
SCP-001 worships mechanization and believes flesh and life to be inherently evil or "broken".
Central to SCP001 's theology is that their deity has been scattered, dispersed or otherwise rendered inert. Through the use of technology, often anomalous, Church followers seek to bring together the components of the body of God, thereby allowing the Divine a physical form to utilize and bringing about some sort of techno-organic apotheosis.

I like how the author specifically said anthracite coal is what they use as fuel in their manufacturing process, extracted under saintly supervision. That just happens to be the highest quality, hardest, most metallic, shiniest most energy efficient coal with the least impurities. It is so low in organic compounds that almost no plant carbon remains and it is considered metamorphic submetallic rock,unlike other coals made of organic sediment like lignite or bitumen which comes from crude fossil fuels like petroleum.
So literally even the fuel they use was transformed from organic to inorganic. That is meticulously good attention to detail to casually mention anthracite. That’s some serious next-level lore geekery.

For me Mekhane is the good guy in this story. He set the roots for the humans to evolve from animals to the dominant species on the planet and sacrificed himself to contain Yaldabaoth and save Humanity. Maybe his parts can be dangerous for Humans but this doesn´t mean that he is when he is whole again.
Agreed he is the better of the two but I doubt he is a good guy he seems like the type to want his followers to dominate the rest. And for those of us who don't want to be assimilated that could be a problem

@@ericwang565 Mekhane even tends to lend favor to the foundation more than the church, and it should be fairly clear why. Rebuilding the broken god would undo Yaldaboth's prison.

Mekhane is basically if G1 Optimus Prime was a god. Actually I think Mekhane would like at Optimus Prime as one of his true prophets if you think about it.
The Church, even if it is fractured, is united in desire to connect and rebuild their lost divine. It makes it difficult to decide if I want to pursue biomechanical reingineering with the cogwork, or use digital coding to help spread the influence faster.
I always admired the church for what it initially set out to be, and still finding reason to continue...especially with possible pieces of their god still out there. Wherever they may be. Long Live the Robot God!

The final part is what im expecting from the storyline of all the apocalypses happening at once, that every group of interest join in a forced alliance to deal with it because neither want the world to end if not by their own hand, just like in the SCP 5000 timeline, a lot of groups tried to fight against the Foundation but ultimately fail due to trying separately.
I love how detailed the Church of the Broken God is. If you didn't know it was from the SCP universe, it could almost sound real.
I've always loved the Broken Church, not only because of the deep lore but also they are, at least to me, one of the most reasonable GOI's (potential radical religiousness aside) disposed to work shoulder to shoulder with the likes of the Foundation for the greater good

Owl eared viewers might recognize that name as having ties to the foundation.
It is unknown if Saint Scranton, Dr Scranton, or even Dr Robert Scranton specifically of scp 3001 (Red Reality) are separate characters under a family name, or all one and the same, but if they are all the one man, then it's nice to know that the church and the foundation are able to respect eachother.
After all, Mekhane is a self-appointed patron deity of the foundation.
This makes me wonder how the followers of Mekhane and the SCP Foundation would react to transformers. Specifically, the Aligned Continuity where Primus was the incarnation of creation who sacrificed himself and become Cyberton's core to defeat Unicron (The incarnation of destruction) and cast him out only for him to become the Earth's core.
Well, there is SCP-5984 where The Church of Maxwellism built the Bayverse Optimus Prime as a defensive measure against Neo-Nälkic attacks on Maxwellist churches and operational fronts.

I like to think of the GOI's in the alignment chart. The foundation is either true neutral or neutral good, serpent's hand is chaotic good, church of the broken god is chaotic neutral, the GOC is lawful evil, so on and so forth.

If I existed in this universe I would definitely be a follower of Mekhane.
A friend and I actually made this sort of fourth faction of The Church of the Broken God called The Caro Metallums.
The Caro Metallum’s differ greatly from the COTBG’s other factions in the sense that the majority of there values and practices don’t align with the other factions with there primary mission being to use their tech help others in the name of Mekhane as the broken god did for humanity once long ago. They’re most tolerant faction as opposed to their other factions who believe flesh is inferior to machines they don’t fully follow that belief. They’re also not as cultish as the other factions and normally don’t force their followers to engage in certain activities if they wish not to do so. They follow Mekhane for their selflessness and follow their example to help others like they did. Much like the Xia Dynasty they do not think Mekhane’s body should be put back together as to could undermine Mekhane’s sacrifice and release an unstable Yaldabaoth once again. Take note of the word unstable as opposed to their counterparts, The Caro Metallum’s casts Yaldabaoth in a more positive light. In these stories Mekhane and Yaldabaoth shared a strong bond and built the world together. However at some point Yaldabaoth was struck with a sickness of mind and to protect the world from their sickly sibling with a heavy heart Mekhane made an ultimate sacrifice to imprisoned their best friend. Like the Maxwellists this faction is relatively young and embrace individually innovative ideas. But like the Clockworks they do have a system of ranks and titles within their practice including but not limited to Gearmasters, Machinists, Engineers, etc. As much as there criticized by the other factions they do still collaborate with them especially when humanitarian aide is needed. Speaking of which as fellow humanitarians The Caro Metallum’s often provides services to the Mana Charitable Foundation. That being said though one should not take there compassion for a weakness as cross them and they’ll unleash the wrath of Mekhane. As there ranks include warriors who protect those who need it. Overall The Caro Metallum’s are the humanitarians of the COTBG.

I've always had a tiny theory that if they ever managed to wake Mekhane up, they would just stare at all of them and ask why they turned themselves into robots. "I specifically didn't want robots, that was your whole point! To combine our gifts and create something more! Why would I not just make you mechanical if I wanted you mechanical??? Why do you think I even worked with Yaldaboth??????"
I also have another minor theory that I just came up with during this video. What if Mekhane and Yaldaboth worked together while creating humanity, specifically as a possible answer to the ScarletKing? Like, Yaldaboth's gifts of flesh, adaptability, and growth, mixed with Mekhane's gifts of logic, thought, and invention. It seems like a decent combination to find an answer to a threat the god's couldn't fight against; create something brand new that can think in entirely new ways than either could form. Also... with this in mind, what if Yaldaboth and Mekhane weren't actually at war? What if it was a decision they made together, to forsake their influence over them beyond what we see, because if their is one thing that spurs on design and weaponry, it's war; so they devised the story as a way to get smaller wars within humanity, which created anomalous weapons like the living siege weapons, SCP-610, the upgrades by the Mekhanites, all of them. All created for a single purpose if giving a single chance to stop an evil far greater than either god could deal with.
Probably very stupid theories, but they're at least interesting... at least to me.

I love how thorough this is. Scp lore is great but it can also be hard to follow. Not only is this broken down and easy to digest, but you cover lots of details and make it fun to watch and listen to. Brilliant stuff! I would love to see other groups of interest covered like this if possible!

After I read an SCP entry where a bunch of maxwellists turned themselves into like human video game consoles to become the ultimate gamers(sorry, I can't remember what ther number was) (the idea being that, these people having loved video games so much, they turned playing video games into an act of whorshipping WAN) I kinda went like "you know, that sounds good".

the 10 golden crows were created by the god of the sun(idk how that happened), and the Xia dynasty used their 10 Xuan Yuan swords that had antimemetic powers to try to erase the crows. However the swords lost control and also erased most of the Xia dynasty itself. when people from the next dynasty, Shang, arrived, they had no idea that Xia existed.
