SCP-001 is currently located in several alternate dimensions simultaneously, and is unable to enter into the prime dimension. However, it is believed to have been repeatedly attempting entry. The physical, mental and conceptual properties of SCP 001 are unknown to the Foundation; nevertheless, it continues to assert a strong influence on a number of individuals and events within the prime dimension. Should SCP001 enter the prime timeline, an irreparable alteration to normalcy will occur.

The legends that 110 Montauk is immensely cruel is to fool the Scarlet King, because if he believes that terrible things are happening to contain him, he is satisfied, because all he wants is pain and suffering. It's all to prevent the birth of the creature inside her, cause if the King found out that she wasn't suffering, he'd make her suffer himself.
I probably butchered that explanation, but there is an article on the SCP wiki that explains the reality of 110 Montauk that does it way better.

Pretty sure SCP 2845 actually is sapient and sentient, according to the tales anyway. It even played a major role in one of the tales where the Scarlet King actually managed to invade Earth with his many servants, including but not limited to the Factory and the Hanged King.

Because 999 being related to the Scarlet King is part of a different canon. In the 001 scarlet king canon, 110-montauk is exactly as cruel as people fear it to be. In the "999 is related" canon, 110-montauk is only said to be that bad because fear alone is enough to contain him in that canon.

This is a really interesting scp I really enjoy how you really cant combat it since it cannot be avoided if you fear it then you give in if you try to not fear it you give in a sense of false security and if you want to contain or do something about it you give into it again

The King's red flag unfurled.
His bride the third remained unheard,
Her cries for help ignored.
She stopped her life with a surgeon's knife,
And gave it to Our Lord.
The fourth prepares a dagger
And places it at her heart.
The perfect cure cannot make pure
What the King has set apart.
The fifth one's crown was bearing down
Upon the fox's set.
The den was sundered with mighty thunder,
An apocalypse beget.
On the sixth's day, the walls gave way,
And the oceans turned to ash.
Her birth gave work, as the earth shook,
Underneath the King's fell lash.
The seventh bride will break the tides
The moon no more will shine.
There comes a day not far away
She'll birth the death of time.
The doctor never tells his god
Which one he really seeks.
Instead he hides himself away,
And quietly, he weeps.
Their god's own voice, he makes the choice,
Declaring with their word.
"In fear and pain let her remain,
Lest she be like the third."
The doctor's gun ended his run,
As he put it to his ear.
As she was defiled, the pitied child,
He gave it to his fear.
Her memory a fickle thing,
The strongest shall endure.
When her weeping starts to waver,
Their drugs make her mind pure.
This actally a good poem, reminds me of the one in lotr about the rings

SCP foundation actually did the best possible move here. By making it safe people stop caring about it, and people deciding they dont give a heck about the scarlett king on their own instead doesnt mean they're enhancing its power by being more controlling over its information nor does it weaken the scarlett king by inducing anarchy, its the perfect balance betwewn the two, so it'd be a perfect stalemate.
When people say redacted in the files It makes me think that they weren't creative enough to think of details
