I think it was a mistake for them to have a concrete date. It's obvious that none of this is true but that "it might, in some hamfisted way" be true makes the reading better. Like crypto stuff.
Of course but then at the same time the Foundation has so many reality reset, restructures and all out shifts as well as so many parallel universes that while it might be true in one universe it's complete bullshit in another, might call it a cop out but it works. Having a vague date would probably be more SCP-normal but it's kinda funny having an exact date. Some universe out there in the SCP multiverse is going to have a really really bad day. While another is going to have the Church of the Broken God trying to backstab the other GOIs as doomsday is closing in because it was a well fabricated lie, letting them integrate into these opposing factions and undermine them without their knowledge, distracted as they were by an apparent impending apocalypse.

I remember there was an interesting look on how the two cults began their battle. The Church viewed flesh as the enemy, and saw the Sarkics as an embodiment of the flesh that had to be stopped. Meanwhile the Sarkics, with their darwinistic beliefs, saw the Church as something in their way that would impede their freedom, and so fought them.
All the while, both Yaldabaoth and Mekhane had absolutely nothing to do with each other until their myths became adapted to reflect the conflict between the cults.

I think it can't be the heart or even any part of the broken god because it's final setting had converted a human into another biological entity once. If it was a part of the broken god surely it would made the human some sort of machine

Mekhane was scattered while destroying Yaldeboath, and supposedly now stands as multiple anomalous machines and metal objects. Mekhane was revived into an evil being with the capability to destroy the world because they gave him a 'false heart.' SCP-2399 is a massive, broken mechanical compound that landed on Jupiter 400-500 years ago, which is currently trying to rebuild itself for some unknown reason. SCP-2399 saved humanity from destruction during the Apothesis event. So, consider this: What if SCP-001 was, in fact, not Mekhane, but SCP-2399 WAS Mekhane, saving humanity from the terror that the church created, believing it to be their god?

Minor criticism, but since Mekhane is actually a _feminine_ noun in Ancient Greek, it’s implied that Mekhane is actually female & Yaldaboath is male since Yaldaboath is based off of the Demiurge from Gnosticism. In all fairness, though, you can argue that deities can’t really have gender assigned to them and stuff.
Also, the Sarkicists actually call their own culture/religion “Nälkä,” and they don’t really worship Yaldaboath, with them instead wanting to devour Yaldaboath’s power so that he can’t destroy the universe and they can ascend themselves to divinity.

What would make you th i k that any of them are true, or at least not overblown. After all, who's bother searching through all the norma! SCPs when there's the big juicy 001 right in front of you?
That's my idea, anyway. I also quite like ",The Truth," or " ,The Journal. "
What I'm interested in is if The House of the Worm fits into the church. In the journal associated with the SCP, an "Iron Worm" that "had no teeth, but masses of grinding gears that tore flesh and stone to pulp" is described. My initial thought was that the worm might have been the false Mecha that tore up Mexico, but the vision showed the worm destroying Europe. After considering it a bit more, I think I realized something. What if, the mechanism that the man was building under his house was actually Mecha or some part of Mecha and that the soul of Mecha was what gave him the visions of the schematics. However, during the process was interrupted by the soul Yaldaboth (is that how you spell it?) which changed the schematics to create the body parts in the vials, and affected Eudora to create the counter cult in the limbo world. This is all speculation, and probably far from the intent, but given how one of the final floors is what appears to be a church made entirely out of gears and pipes makes it hard not to believe there is some kind of connection the the Church of the Broken God.

I really like the Church of the Broken God because while they have made some questionable decisions in the past their belief system is something surprisingly nuanced for something that is still effectively a potentially world-ending cult. They're not just Scarlet King worshipper-tier maniacs who just want reality to end for nebulous reasons. Instead they venerate someone they believe game them sentience. As a game master I understand that sometimes you need hateable and insane villains, but I genuinely appreciate the effort that went into making the COTBG more than that.
As others have pointed out, the timing of the outbreak is nuts.
