I'm starting to believe it was 2 people involved now .Its feeling LIKE Barbera and one of those kids did it. Im thinking one of the kids did the dirt, called Barbera, and she helped clean It up. I love how every episode my killers changes. If I had to pick which kid I would say the boy. Barbera scrubbing his bike like she got OCD was just hella sus to me. At first I thought she was doing it just because she knew he was there ,now I think it's deeper than thT. Her arse could of even been on the bike her self😂 !it's almost as if she accidentally framed her husband so e kind of way if that's possible.
Ok hear me out. I was rewatching episode one and when the son came home around the 10 min mark and asked his dad why he was home, Rusty answered: "I went to Carolyn's memorial." and the son walked away sooooo awkwardly without saying a word. Then Rusty said: "Come on, show me a curveball". I mean how genius would it be if the son ended up accidentally killing her and Barb covered it up and that that is the actual "curveball" to the plot!
There is more! When Barb and Rusty confronted Kyle about riding by her house, Kyle said he wanted to talk to mom about it. Also the scene where he is at the psychologist when she asked what he felt about seeing his dad enter Carolyn's house and he said "Worse things have happened since he went inside her house". 👀 Pair this with the bike scrubbing and BOOM that's a solid theory. I can see Rusty finding out at some point and he takes the plea deal of manslaughter and will go to prison for 8 years to protect his son.
I can’t stand Rusty. He’s a narcissist and doesn’t really care about his wife and by extension, his family. He was willing to lose it all for Carolyn. I’m enraged when I see scenes between Barb and Rusty because she’s so calm all the time. It gives me a weird vibe but also where is the rage about your husband destroying his family? They will NEVER come back from this situation. Even if he gets acquitted, people will always look at him (and them) sideways because many will still believe that he was involved. The whole situation just looks really bad. I thought that the question from Rusty about why she stays and she said the same reason why you stay. Like 🧐 huh. I’m still trying to figure out what that’s about 🤨
After rewatching the episode I realized that this show is eerily similar to THE NIGHT OF from HBO, which Bill Camp also starred in. The Night Of is television GOLD
My theory: You ready for this? Mya did it. I predict we will find out some dark past where she is behind all of this and has some yet-to-be-known vendetta against Rusty. Likely Rusty prosecuted someone she was close to and now she wants revenge. She poisoned Raymond because she realized he was going to win and this way she can take over the defense and undermine it, making sure Rusty gets convicted. I think she also has some arrangement with the bartender and is pulling all the strings with getting him to make moves on Barbara to ruin her and Rusty's relationship.
I want it to be Tommy because I can’t stand him but it feels too easy. The way they’re steering us to him, I just don’t see it being him. It was probably the kids lol
If the Kyle-Barbara-did-it theory gets shot down, then I also like the Tommy-did-it puts. He’s a perfect villain, odd, lecherous, sometimes creepy and nobody likes him but he’s a sneaky good prosecutor working with a bag-of-worms case. Raymond hates and demeans him but Tommy has unleashed a very strong vendetta-ish case against Rusty and it has the defense in a baseball-ly pickle. The demise of Raymond was foreshadowed by his misplaced superiority, the loss of his job, a burp-fart, exploding head and his view of himself as decomposing rot, plus his inability to manage Rusty’s out of control death spiral. Rusty is a good prosecutor but he and Mya aren’t on the same page and she’s no match for Tommy alone. If Tommy did it, he wants Rusty in jail and he’ll gloss over exculpatory evidence (Carolyn hit job by Bunny’s jailed killer; Kyle at scene; bike w/Carolyn DNA?) unless Mya stops him.
More on how and why Tommy did it and how Rusty can have his revenge. In E6, when Raymond casts sufficient doubt on Rusty’s DNA under Carolyn’s fingernails as just as likely there from a kiss, as well as the absence of a murder weapon, this prompts the judge to offer a plea deal. Absent Raymond (stroke), Mya can now put Rusty on the stand since he knows both Tommy and Carolyn. Rusty can testify to Tommy’s motive and demeanor by being Carolyn’s voice. He can testify that Tommy saw Carolyn as a beautiful conniver and career-climber willing to use her sexual allure for professional gain; that Carolyn sidestepped Tommy, her senior, to work directly with Rusty not for career gain but for protection; that she asked Tommy if he was stalking her and he didn’t deny it; that Tommy became intensely jealous of Rusty’s relationship with Carolyn and lusted for her. Mya can explore Eugenia’s Ick bomb to show Carolyn was openly afraid of Tommy and point to Michael’s video/pix showing Carolyn dispatching Rusty with a kiss, then peering out her windows in fear that Tommy might be creeping around her bushes watching her the night Carolyn was killed putting Tommy at the scene and that his love/hate feelings for Carolyn ultimately caused him to become unhinged resulting in her gruesome murder. Add his loss of credibility with the jury and his prior knowledge of the Bunny Davis crime scene and bindings, Mya can slap a search warrant on Tommy to search for the murder weapon at his home and if they find evidence, have Tommy arrested for the murder of Carolyn Polhemus.
I think it’s one of the kids or maybe both. Jaden wanting to go to the court seems fishy, but perhaps it’s just to support her dad. Also, the way she talks about an out-of-body experience, maybe she is talking about herself having it. I think her brother found out told Jaden, and both of them went there and confronted her; and Jaden killed her, and Kyle called his mom, freaking out.
@@trentbrigdon5601 I just don’t see those teens pulling off the way she was tied up. That’s an actual skill, also there being no evidence left behind points to someone with experience or with maturity at the very least.
It’s the daughter!! That scene with her father outside on the porch and the conversation she started referring to what she learned in her psych class about “Derealization/Depersonalization” and about how it’s a mental state where you feel or become detached from reality due to a defense mechanism that your brain uses in moments of strong trauma or panic….she asked her father about that in particular. It’s the daughter or her father, Rusty since she asked him if he ever felt that? Maybe she witnessed it? Regardless it appears to be just an “ordinary scenes” in a dramatic episode. There’s reasons for everything & David Kelly is a master of his craft! Tommy is not innocent. He definitely harassed her at the workplace. Guilty of murder. Too easy for David Kelly. It was the daughter & but she got scared and called her Dad afterwards. Rusty did the cleanup. He knew the previous murder case, he saw the pics, the special knots. He had access and knew the cops would look at the previous defendant for a revenge killing. If Rusty did it on his own….it was because of the baby & perhaps because Caroline didn’t want to play house with him even as a result….that’s my take on it at the moment….
Definitely think it’s the daughter. That scene about disassociating discreetly shows what I think is a flashback where rusty and Jaden are looking at something teary eyed. Also the scene where he has a dream about being in Caroline’s apartment shows a female pick up the fire poker. I think his daughter was there before he even showed up at Caroline’s apartment that night.

No one has brought up that when he was looking through the pictures,he lingered on the picture with Caroline half naked with a big T-shirt on...he was obsessed with her too. They find out he was reported to HR by Caroline. Clearly Tommy was the one she was afraid of.
I think Tommy faked the 2nd DNa sample in the old case with bunny to blow her case up and make her look bad. When Carolyn ignored it & did not report it to the defense, Tommy got really angry at Carolyn and killed her and framed Rusty after he knew Delay was going to be the new DA and he could begin his career by taking down everyone’s favorite prosecutor, Rusty. This would explain why (1) he isn’t looking into the old case at all (2) why Rusty can’t make anything stick from this case…bc the 2nd evidence was faked, (3) Tommy has a way to get the medical examiner to manufacture evidence for him. I don’t know how this is going to get exposed however. (4) Why Delay from the beginning has been confused why Tommy won’t just follow the facts. (5) why Tommy obsessively watched the teen aged son’s videos to see if he was seen on them. (6) Why Carolyn didn’t struggle. She knew her killer and it was a surprise.
I hate the idea Barbara sticking around for the kids. They're old enough and their father is on trial for murdering his pregnant girlfriend. Happy times are over. I'd rather believe Barbara is involved and decided this was the best strategy. Especially if Rusty figures something out. Marital privilege and/or he'll default to protecting her out of guilt. If Rusty is convicted, she can also expedite the divorce.
I do have questions about all the kids actually. Her son says “the life she preferred I NOT be apart of”… not the life she preferred without him, which I would think a child left behind would say; what he says makes it sound like a very analytical choice by Carolyn. Then, I still question Rusty’s kids..both of them, honestly.
