Omg this was the most terrifying game I ever attended and never got to see any of it, I was 9 and as usual we went down in the minibus with my uncle & his mates from the chaucer in bootle, we were walking to the ground in a police escort when hundreds of spurs fans came from nowhere and attacked us, I lost sight of my uncle & his mates, when a policewoman grabbed my hand and we both ran to safety, we went into a portable police station whilst they tried to contact my uncle, I sat and listened to the match inside that portakabin but they couldn't make contact, the match finished and he turned up with a massive swollen eye after the game. I was bloody relieved, 2 of his mates locky and marty were taken to hospital so they never came home with us, that game lives with me forever, at the start of the highlights on this clip you can hear scousers aggro allo allo, if you went to Anfield the next season there was a slogan on the wall at the back of the kop which read 'all scouse to spurs march 29th" it meant every scouser get to spurs on march 29th the following season, we never went but that slogan wasn't removed for years 😮😮😮😮
@@alanmansell9845 See my reply to och14s about being terrified after that game. It was the beginning of the end for me as an away supporter. I continued to go to ones where I knew good ways out and went to Spurs v Liverpool in April 83 as by then I had a friend living near the ground.
I think this won goal of the season if my memory serves me correctly - I think Terry Mac won player of the year award as well but its a long time ago so Im not 100% sure- it was an outstanding midfield - that is for sure - it had everything
Think he won both players’ and the writers’ footballer of year. I was directly in line behind that shot in the crowd and I knew the moment he hit it that it was in. The Seven Sisters Road afterwards was terrifying . A lad was thrown through a plate glass window. Not just the hooligans but the Met were completely out of hand , hitting people indiscriminately; my friend’s sister was hit. We lost 2-0 there three weeks later in the league but still went on to win the championship. The players were on the same train as me going down on the Friday ; doubt that has happened for years! Thanks again Dave.
Days are better when Dave uploads a vid.. Cheers mate!
18:57 Dalglish missed a sitter there! Rare for him, although he also missed one the following month at Old Trafford.

I assume the March 29th reference was for the league game at Spurs that Liverpool were due to play 2-3 weeks later.
@jonathancole833 ye if it was march 29th it would have been that one, there was no way I was going with them for that.

I think Justin Fashanu's goal for Norwich against Liverpool won goal of the season that year. Terry McDermott did win player of the year.
What A Goal...and assist 😂
Terry Mac showing Hoddle how to play football ❤
