Disagree about Spence. Not sure what they've been watching, but he's been one of our best players when he has played and that's without many of our best players and the fact he is playing on the left side. Simon hasn't given him credit for what he's done and I don't think he's been at fault for goals we've conceded.

  • @andrewfineberg2397

We may not have won, but the way we were setup made it easier for Slot to know how to approach it. Even Salah said he knew how we'd play. The Wolves coach last year came on Sky and gave an insight into how they beat Spurs and they did the same thing twice! Ange is too predictable, teams knows how to counter his tactics and it's so easy just to play long balls in behind the full backs into that space and to counter attack on us, as we overload our attack.
They know we won't change oir approach, we don't cross high into the box, always low crosses or cut backs. Solanke doesn't get into the box that much, we don't vary our play by speeding it up and slowing it down or go long/direct sometimes. The passing out from the back doesn't suit the players we have, unless we have our first choice players, so playing that style regardless will lead to mistakes and cost us goals and points. He needs to adapt, he needs to protect certain players and in moments where you have players out, you can't play your normal way, as it will cost the team. Injuries are an easy excuse, nobody was using that when we beat City, Utd or Southampton. He's making the players look worse than they are. I feel sorry for Forster and Gray. Porro isn't a right back and I'd rather see Spence at right back and Porro right wing, keep Kulu in the centre. Try Reguilon at left back or adjust the team, go three at the back and put Dorrington in there or Davies, when he's back, to help with the high line and to defend the space left ny our full backs.

Once the first press is beaten, Spurs are always wide open. He also likes to play single pivot, so Bissouma always needs to cover 2 players, causing him to play badly and gets the flak for it.

They weren't expected to win with depleted squad against a top of the league team at almost full strength and an extra day's rest. There were 2 boring 00 games during the round, guess what game I'd rather watch. Stat wise - Spurs has the most goals atm - with only the top 3 teams having a better GD. They don't have a gun striker (Madison has 8 of their 39 goals & Salah has 15 of their 37 goals), which shows that Spurs scoring is more of team effort. As a manager if your best scorer gets injured or goes cold you are at high risk, Man City has seen this with Haaland going cold. Ange is trying to build a winning team but is struggling due to injuries. This was their biggest loss and they still managed to score 3 goals. Previous to this they only ever lost by 1 goal. Just be happy you were entertained.

They cannot rest players - Citeh have 3 people out Spurs have 11 . Spurs beat them twice and at Citeh. Four players on Spurs bench are kids some still go to school - literally! Three defenders are new to premiership and are 18,19 and 21 and of course goalkeepers having a nightmare. It’s not the tactics it’s exhaustion! It’s better to keep playing the same system if you change it, it could be even worse! They sacked the head of the medical staff who’d been there 20 years - mistake?

I disagree. I think we did right trying to give ourselves a chance. With 3 defenders and the goalie out we still can only field the ones on the pitch last night. Even if we would have had a more defensive approach, Liverpool would have still roasted us. If you look at the first two season with Klopp, Liverpool had the same issue. Same with Spurs to a certain extent under Poch. A lot of injuries with a more intense playing style. But, the the club needs to give him funds to get more experienced players in. We need a bigger and better squad, but we have so much exiting youth and finally we are playing some great football at times. Spurs would be crazy sacking this man now. Trying to have a go at Liverpool at home in a game you are underdogs is not a big deal.

    Lets look at the facts:
Spurs played a full strength Liverpool team who are an incedibly polished squad at the top of their game and arguably the best team in europe atm.
Spurs have a squad depleted by 10, a makeshift back line consisting of: Forster (back-up keeper who cannot play with his feet nor is quick enough to play the essential sweeper role), Grey (an an 18yr old natural midfielder), Spence (only 2nd PL start), Dragusin (only 22 and not quick enough in the system) Poro (not a defender but more importantly, Knackered).
The fact that we had one less days rest than Pool and due to injury had to play the same team as Thurs meant that the whole team looked jaded and as a result were second best to every ball.
Take nothing away from a brilliant Liverpool team who have had years to develop but we still managed to put 3 past "the best defence in the league". Would they have put 6 past us if we were at full strength (1st team, squad depth, freshness etc)? Unlikely. Would we have scored at least 3 goals? Goes without saying as we scored 3 depleted.
Would we have won? Who knows 🤷🏾‍♂️.
What l do know is that I'm happy with the attitude of the players and the direction in which we are moving under Ange. Provided he's backed by the board, Spurs will be riding high in the next couple of seasons, playing some of the most attractive footie known. The key to any solid build is backbone and patience. Let's grow one and exercise the other.
    COYS!

They've got a beautiful stadium, state of the art and it's full every match and they score goals and lose a lot of matches. it doesn't matter; they're entertained. A win to a Spur's fan is seeing Arsenal their arch enemy losing. Nothing is more satisfactory to Spurs than see Arsenal fall. Winning trophies? What's that? They're not interested in that lifestyle. the mentality of the club is the problem. But they don't care. Why are you trying to change people who aren't interested in changing. This isn't Chelsea where you lose three in a roll, and they start discussing your firing. At Spurs, you lose three in a roll with the entertainment element, your job is safe.

Alex Ferguson once said that attackers win matches but defenders with championships. No-one is suggesting we go back to the dog days of Mourinho and Conte, but we have the strikers to do the job (look at the clinical finishing of Sonny, Deko, Johnson and Solanke). We need to stop leaving ourselves open. The high defensive line along with ball watching and getting on the wrong side of counter-attacking opponents. Both of these things are a problem. As the guys said, our central defenders are greyhounds who are inevitably prone to hamstrings and strains as they try to recover. Unless you have a reserve team full of substitute greyhounds, like Van der Venn, you are going t be left short.

Like carra says you dont win titles playing like that. Klopp did but he made adjustments. At first we were wide open at the back then we got van dijk and paired him with gomez. Both lightning quick so we could leave space in behind and catch the likes of mbappe who they played early on. The other time it didnt work was when we got beat 7-2 by villa. The press was a yard or two off that day all over the pitch we arrived at the ball late, villa had time on ball with no pressure and space in behind and exposed us and scored 7 goals. Liverpool fans know how you win the title playing like that and your press has to be absolutely spot on with everyone going at the right time and noone diving in and getting played past and then you have to be lightning quick at the back so you can recover if it goes in behind. Tottenham dont have the players to play like that and theyre not good enough. Hes treating rhat tottenham team as if hes got van dijk and rio ferdinand at the back in their pomp and klopps dortmund or liverpool midfield press and then the best front 3 in the world

Maddison have in the middle !!! Not at the forward ?! Because he has the ability to help the forward players score and can also help the defenders defend.) P. Porro in the back...,. If we'd have sat back and tried to defend and grind out a low scoring game against one of the best teams in Europe it wouldve been 6-0.

So shutting up shop then would've been stupid. Once at 1-3 if they were to score at least 2 goals (to get a point) they must take chances. For my job I deal in probabilities all the time. A modern manager knows that even if probabilities mean Liverpool are more likely to score more goals than Spurs, it also means playing openly gives Spurs a greater probability of scoring the 2 goals needed than if shutting up shop. ie It's worth taking a chance as 2 goals would've put them 3-3 and got themselves a point. They did get the 2 goals, but unfortunately Liverpool got another 3.

@@Bert-lw1ot What im saying is if it was Arsenal with a 4 point lead in the premiership, on a 22 game unbeaten run and being on top of the CL table then yes he would be screaming it through the rafters with the greatest praise he could muster.

Spurs scored 2 of those goals because Liverpool put their slippers on and sat on the sofa at 5-1

League position don’t lie. Ang needs to take responsibility more I believe. Journalists, fans are there to challenge his decisions. I was a big fan of Ang to begin with but now it feels like he reckons he’s being a ‘victim’. Ang - do some more defensive coaching pal !
