I also believe Pele was offered to played in european club too but he rejected and decided to just stay in Brazilian league. I recall there were also a quota limit for foreigner which only 2/3 foreign player allowed for every club. It all changed since Bosman ruling

Milan and Roma are in red usually. Liverpool was always lucky to get to play in red.

Next one Liverpool get to might be a team with a red home kit. Worst case scenario would be playing an English team with a blue home kit, baby blue or gobshite blue we know that should never happen.
Dylan Morgan we were 5 seconds away from playing in purple in Madrid. We have Lucas Moura to thank for us being in red in that final. And i'm eternally gradeful for that. And i'm also grateful for Poch bottling it and putting Lucas on the bench for the final.

Used to be intimidated challenged to european club like Barca & Milan. Since bosman ruling, many Brazilian talent went to Europe and so the competition became one sided. No more south American club will ever come close to ruled the world like how Sau Paulo did back to back in early 90s

Conti was a fabulous player remember the role he played in Italy wining the WC in 1982. Roma was a great team in the mid eighties. Just wasn't to be their night against Liverpool.

Roma FC is always a respected European club. Not first tier but a top 20 for sure. I wish it had better success. I think it's actually a competition between Napoli and Parma for the 5th best Italian team while Roma is clearly 4th. Not sure if that sounds good.

Interesting what they say about the work rate of modern full backs to be part of the attacking process. Alan Kennedy scores from open play in the 1981 European cup final. Phil Neal scores from open play in the 1984 European cup final. Plus Neal scored a penalty in the 1977 final. So either these guys were ahead of their time or its modern media making out what happens today by many full backs is something profound. I think the latter.
Burns Tennis attacking full backs have been a thing since 1950s and 60s with Brazil. It made its way over to Europe. During the late 80s to 90s it was used slightly less to increase defensive solidity but it’s back from the late 90s onwards.

There's a famous story of the LFC players relaxed and singing in the tunnel before the match and unnerving the Roma players. Great stuff. To beat Roma on their home turf.....what an effort! (5mins ago I bought a replica Dalglish 1984 European Cup jersey so I thought I'd search for the game highlights)
Craig Johnston (a friend of the singer Chris Rea) had them all singing “I don’t know what it is, but I love it”.......🙂 Liverpool were (and are) a very special football club. I have followed Arsenal for over 40 years, but Liverpool FC and their fans are incredible.

Would be interesting to see how V.A.R would judge Whelan’s collision with Tancredi. I don’t think it was foul. Goalkeeper is still running towards the ball when Whelan has gone up for the ball. It’s not as though he has gotten to spot and been collided into. But possibly VAR may have chalked it off.
