Proof pure talent can win over athleticism, imagine Jan in today's game, in the gym all day, he'd have been even more amazing than he was, but I loved him as he was in the 80s, gave me and my late dad so much joy from the Kop😊😊
Quite some players Denmark had in Molby's time. They even had trouble fitting Molby in the national side. At times. With Simonsen, denmarks Ballon'd'or winner and Michael Laudrup being a decent passers of the ball too.
Between the great sides of the early 80s and the late 80s, there is the mid-80s side that was not as strong or successful but won the double in 85/86. To me, that was Jan Molby's side and the 3 assists in the FA Cup final are super special. Would be one of the best midfielders in today's game.
I had the pleasure of watching those sides, Jan was brought in to replace Graeme Souness, just imagine him playing with Souness, in my opinion, selling Souness was a big mistake.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jan Molby at a Wallasey pub & having a drink with him way back in 1995.Outside NZ,the only international footballer I ever met, nice guy.
I went to every home game in the early 90’s and loved watching this guy …..he was a big lad for s footballer but I think that’s what gave him incredible power and accuracy for not just shooting but passing too
If you grew up during the 1980's he's deffo one of the most exciting players you've seen, no doubt about it. PS - played for LFC, but like to frequent Southend-On-Sea, Essex for some reason.......
Jan Molby was the epitome of the way Liverpool tried playing football and way ahead of his time as a player. You would imagine him as part of that Barcelona team in 2010. He was practically futuristc because very few players if any played that way during his time.
Just notice him in Denmark vs Uruguay. He did not got alot attention in that game. Where Denmark from when they got the ball in own half and scored just in 2-3 passes. It was Jan who started the counters with good passes. A really amazing thing to watch that football can be so easy, when it is to look easy are the most difficult thing of all. Btw, kinda funny Liverpool also tried to get M. Laudrup, but the got Jan instead........with succes.
Another funny story. Barcelona bought Jan Mølby from Liverpool. But the transfer fell through because Barcelona didnt have the money after all. Can't remember the exact number. Was ridiculously low by todays standards. Sad that he had the weight problems and injury issues. He was a really great technical player. We knew how to make them in the 80's.
Such a great player. Michael Laudrup was very close to sign for Liverpool as well, before he chose Lazio. That would have been fantastic. But Liverpool did well with just the great dane🇩🇰
Shoots like a Stevie G with a little bit more meat. Maybe more than a little bit. But what a talented player, he stood out amongst the crowd with his energy!
Im nothing like the player but im built Jan. Thighs and arse lads. Thighs and arse. Whack the skinny fast lads side to side with your 'technique'. If they try again, do it harder. Mans game.
He doesn’t seem THAT overweight. Just goes to show how much fitness matters in this game. If he was a bit leaner who knows how great he could have been. Still one of the best of that era for sure
He was unlucky in the national team, it had to many good midfielders. So he only had partial role. despite of how good he actually was. What impressed me most was his character, he goes head on on all problems. I personally believe the national team should used him way more, since he is soo effective.
A great footballer and a fine ambassador of the greeters guild
CEO actually heheheh
@@troyritchiemusic I stand corrected my good sir!
I am here from troy
I am also here from Troy. But also I am Troy.
Fantastic player. Always played with his shoulders back and smashed it
And when he hit it, he knocked the granny out of it
Hi passes were slick, enigmatic and functional. Could float like a butterfly and sting like a Jan Molby.
My favorite all time footballer at Liverpool. He is the best passer of the ball.
Best passer I've ever seen
It meant so much for Jan to play for Liverpool. married local girl, settled in and truly became a local. Not like todays football nomades...
Was actually worth his paypacket and could kick with both feet not like today.
Turned down FC Barcelona.

What a player he was. So naturally gifted, he seemed to play the game in slow motion. But all the greats make it look that way.
Great footballer
Great dad
Great company in the pub
You cant ask for more
Jan - if you are reading this; thank you for such wonderful footballing memories - you were simply the best passer of the ball in the 1980s.
Why support Liverpool if you’re Welsh?

He was the unsung hero of the 1986 FA Cup Final.

Shoulders back, OWN IT.
Smashed it many times!
He was always chubby and struggling with his weight but he was one of the best in the world in his era, vision and skill like no one at the time!!
Thanks Liverpool. Would not have had the opportunity to appreciate this wonderful footballer otherwise. A genius.

My favourite liverpool player ever, what a player, his passing was second to none, stay safe the great Dane, YNWA

Absolute legend, and a rolls royce of a footballer.
sublime passer of the ball and probably the guy you'd want to take a penalty for your life
He won 3 leauges....86,88,90
Brilliant

Jan Molby had a fantastic football brain, pick out a pass with surgical precision. 6>1 Amen.

Troy Hawke brought me here.

What would Jan Mølby do? THIS!
Gerrard + Molby best long range shot

The original passmaster , could dictate the game from the centre circle
A legend here in Kidderminster too.
I believe he won 3 league titles. 86, 88, 90....
Class player and a wonderful passer of the ball
Class player.

Brilliant Video! 👍😉
An absolutely fabulous footballer. YNWA!
Brilliant player, so surprised he wasn’t a regular starter for Liverpool
That goal at 0:55 is one of my all time faves....
Who's that against?
@@SnakePliskin762
Norwich City
follows in the tradition of the great chubby ones with terrific vision
Ian Molby was the Messi of Liverpool
More Xavi than Messi
The great Dane
He was such a stocky player but very agile also.
Much better than Gerrard....
Excellent player - music in the video completely wrong.
Lol it’s like someone has died
Danish xabi Alonso
Spanish Jan molby
👍
And to think we almost signed Micheal laudrup with him
legends of liverpool oh man! c'mon guys show him some respect oh man!.... hahaha 👍
Shoulders back
My coach said i play just like him😃😂😂😂
Jellybelly, Jailbird, Jan Molby.
if Carlsberg made midfielders!
One of the 'highlights' is a backwards pass against United.
😂
WWJMD
Big Mac, whopper, KFC, and Kipling cakes took a toll.
Oh it’s ok for you to be offensive but if anyone questions why you aren’t in India there’ll be tears
Huddle was better than jan
Amazing player.
