    This information was EXCELLENT. I spent a few hours trying to get my Sienna programmed before seeing this and nothing worked. I am an engineer and computer analyst and became very frustrated finding various bits of info in the owners manual, on the HOMELINK website and nothing worked. Thanks to this video showing how to hold the remote BEHIND the HomeLink array I was able to program it in 5 minutes.

    Worked on the first try following these steps! For context - I watched 10 other videos before this one and none of them worked. Thanks you!

    Excellent video. I tried this on my 2004 Sienna when I bought it 10 years ago and couldn't make it work. Since my garage door remotes are wearing out, I was desperate to have this programed. Your clear explanation was very helpful. Also same procedure worked on my 2007 BMW too. Thanks again!

    Thanks for this video! Tried programming my sequoia for an hour before finally succumbing to youtube for help. Got it done in less than 30 seconds after watching this.

    The instructions worked perfectly on my 2002 Camry and a Chamberlain garage door opener. On the Camry positioning the remote inside the open sun-glass compartment achieved the same effect as in the video. It is worthwhile noting that the instruction manual for my Chrysler has the same instructions (I don't have the Toyota manual!). But the Chrysler instructions lacked, of course, the important part regarding positioning of the remote during the training period. The training of the garage door opener in the last step has something to do with how the rolling codes are implemented in the garage door opener.

    So I was having the same problem with trying to program the button to the remote. Your tip on holding the remote behind the button panel worked for me too. Thanks so much. (Just happen also to have a Sienna). So nice to get rid of the remote from the visor.

They explained details on the website if doesn`t works check your garage door opener make sure its compatible with HomeLink sys and they even show how to press the button on your garage door opener as a video here. Are you an engineer and computer analyst ? Seriously ? Not a right moment for you to advertise your title like that here...lol.

    ok.... if that doesn't work... I've got generic remote ... I tried with the purple button settings... if that doesn't work - go for the other clicks... one or three or four (instead of 2 for purple button) .. I hit one that worked... then programmed my subaru with the generic remote... whew... took some trial and error but GOT IT!! :)

    I just couldn't get it to work on my Sequoia. I found your video, followed your instructions to the T and problem solved and it works now! Thanks for sharing. the key is to hold down on the button in the car for 1 sec. it doesn't open the garage door immediately like a regular remote does

    A great video! I just tried it with both of my Toyotas. However, when programming both cars, one would somehow stop working. Then I had to do the other one again and then the other one stopped working. I will try and reprogram the other vehicle a few hrs apart on case it’s a security feature on the garage opener.

  • @sumitmunshi3841
    @sumitmunshi3841 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you! That first step for me wasn't working on the grand caravan, but worked fine with the bmw and subaru. Guess the remote needs to be a lot closer to the receiver. Once the homelink is paired with the remote, you need to press the "learn" button on your opener motor, then press & hold the homelink button for two seconds & release, three times. then the opener itself will accept the homelink signal

    Your problem was simply the learning opener. I have two openers.one an older Sears,non learning,and a learning lift master.The Sears one doesn't care about. Learning codes.The lift master does. Any remote you want to add to the lift master must be done using the learn button.

  • @sylviakirkpatrick830

    I can't get my Toyota sienna to work. I tried putting the remote behind it, we tried the learn button . . . . but nothing. The garage light didn't even blink in response. What else can I try?

  • @KSJNX
    @KSJNX 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So here's what's happening, when you place your remote close to the buttons the vehicle opener learns the frequencies that the garage door uses. Then you have to place the door opener in "learn" mode to sync with the opener in the car. Garage door openers change "codes" every time the button is pushed just like a keyless entry. Otherwise someone could just sit by your house, capture your code, and open your door.

  • @Jazz4sale
    @Jazz4sale 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The button we had originally programmed broke and it is now loose. I went through all your instructions, even putting the remote behind the sensor and nothing happens. The one thing I noticed is that when I press button 2 and 3 the light does not blink but rather stays solid. One thing I cannot do is to reset the previously programmed code because button 1 being broken. Could this be the reason why it is not syncing?

    Thanks for the post. Please note that the difficulty in programming it is not by poor design. System is designed to stop would ill intent people from stealing your garage door codes from next door. Just to clarify.

  • @fkap9371
    @fkap9371 2 ปีที่แล้ว
