- #Schwerin Castle, or Schwerin, is a palatial schloss located in the city of Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state, Germany.
It is situated on an island in the city's main lake, the Schweriner See.
For centuries the palace was the home of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg and later Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Today it serves as the residence of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament .
Major parts of the current palace were built between 1845 and 1857, as a cooperation of the renowned history architects Gottfried Semper, Friedrich August Stüler, Georg Adolf Demmler and Ernst Friedrich Zwirner. The castle is regarded as one of the most important works of romantic Historicism in Europe and is designated to become a World Heritage Site. It is nicknamed "Neuschwanstein of the North".

Visited this castle on a warm summer day with girlfriends for a road trip and it was a completely picturesque experience: we packed a huge picnic lunch & blankets to enjoy near the water on the castle grounds under a large shady tree, with ducks and sailboats in the distance. After lunch, we took a leisurely tour of the interior while listening to a soundcheck for a classical music concert that would be held that night inside the castle's courtyard, it was so gorgeous! Then we marveled at the castle gardens and cave, which are waterside so beautifully landscaped & feel so exotic, you actually feel more like you are on the Riviera than Northeast Germany. Highly recommended if you want to have a dreamy castle experience, particularly on days when you know you'll have sunny skies because it completely heightens the mood all around you- especially the castle grounds, where sunny days feel romantic and exciting.
Love it! In my bucket list of German castles to visit.... some day soon...
I attended a wedding in Schwerin Castle a few years ago and I can say it's one of the most amazing places that I have ever seen.

Beautiful....But still no match for its Bavarian cousin...the world famous Neuschwanstein Schloss (aka castle).
If it wasn't for Disney choosing schloss Neuschwanstein as their castle I would say they would be both up there and pretty close to each other in rankings. They're both absolutely stunning
Не показали памятник рыцаря с от резаным мечом, справа в парке, перед центральным входом в Замок. Обращение к Муниципалитету Шверин. Я бы указал место захоронения военных снарядов и патронов к автоматам в очень большом количестве, на территории Муниципалитета Шверин. . Но пока в Украине не закончится операция, рассказать не могу. Так как эти снаряды будут использованы против России. И думаю таких захоронений сотни по всей Германии. С Уважением.
